Tom Brady's cap hit will be double that. Still cheap for Brady level QB, but there have been enough articles written about the contract to know that he isn't a charity.
Brady also has a wife who will out earn every player in every sport that doesn't become a big time business mogul ala LeBron in NBA. Probably helps appease his need to eek out all the money he can from his profession.

Granted, but I am just enough of a homer to think he'd make friendly contracts even if he weren't married to Gisele :D.

I've never seen a franchise intentionally fuck themselves as badly as the Niners have over an ego trip. It's absurd. This is why they sucked shit from 98-2011 or whenever Harbaugh came in. It really doesn't matter how much talent you put on a field if you don't have someone who can bring it together and make it go, and from the sounds of it, this coach they hired is a joke. It's mind boggling.
I hope Harbaugh crashes and burns in Michigan though. It's nothing against him, but I hate that team.

Pssh. Its not charity, economics tells us there is no such thing! He merely selfishly values his friendship with Gronk and Revis over a couple million.
You don't win offseason beer pong tournaments with Zach Sudfeld on your side.

How do you manage to hate every team that I like?
I don't even care for college that much, but Michigan is one team I care about.
Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis (or was it just Peyton)? And Ohio State is your college team?

Wait, you're asking if those are the teams that I like, right?
The Colts can fuck themselves now. It was only Peyton that I liked over there.
And I'd rather see Harbaugh win a national championship every year for the rest of my life than ever see Ohio State win again. I stopped watching that rubbish in the first quarter after some loser dropped a wide-open 40+ yard pass from Mariota because I knew Oh State would win it. But I actually hate them because A) I'm a ND fan, and B) my brother is a huge fan and he hates on my teams for absolutely no reason, so I always want his teams to lose. So when the Patriots play the Bills, I'm actually rooting for the Patriots. Ha.
It's funny that you say that though because I was reading one of your posts--it wasn't even about New England--and I was like "ugh, that fucking Patriots fan is still here." hahaha. I thought it in the most loving way possible, of course. :D

The fact that it inflates is irrelevant because they are still averaging 22 a year, when the cap hit comes can be manipulated and maybe they can work some of that into Luck's deal.

How mad are we supposed to be about Deflate Gate? I need to make sure I'm raising the right number of pitchforks

I don't think it affected the result, but I think this confirms something nefarious was going on.

Because Rodger's deal was signed three years ago, which means that the AAV of the deal will naturally increase with both the market and the increase in the cap. It would be more fair to compare to a guy like Cutler who has a similarly large contract but doesn't have one of those "we can cut you at any time" deals like Kapernick or Dalton.

My question is how long this was going on before it was noticed. The whole underweight thing is sooooo disappointing as a pats fan. Every message board is filled with people yelling "spygate" whenever we achieve something and now to crush a team and head to a super bowl but have this looming over you is just stupid. 11 out of 12 means either someone deflated them just before the game, or partway through. Who and on who's orders has to be found out and Kraft needs to step in. He is one of the most respected owners in football and I can see him suspending BB for the game if he told someone to do it
Also the Ref's need to be suspended... They are supposedly able to "tell by the feel of the ball" yet they only threw one out?

yeah I was thinking it was pretty weird that the refs wouldn't be able to notice it when they handled the ball

Wouldn't the lighter ball help a pass heavy offense like Indy?

This indy team is missing a lot more pieces than I thought why not? he is their franchise quite literally. Because I'm against paying any player more than 20 mill a year, and the fact that when you overpay the QB's you usually get a team with a pretty good offense and a lot of missing parts. Guy's gotta get paid cuz he's damn good but is he really the best player in football/does he warrant the deal they are talking about? this is absurd wow how did I miss this In his third year, the dude threw up damn near 4800 yds and 40 tds. That is with about half a season of starting a goddamn awful rb who put up 3.3 ypc with his qb going bonkers (seriously, Richardson is AWFUL--how can you be that bad when teams aren't even pretending to stack the box) He did that with TY Hilton being his only genuine weapon. Wayne is awesome, but over the hill. Moncrief might be something eventually but he's nothing special right now. Fleener is about as goofy as he is ugly. He would have 200+ more yards if he wasn't such a bumbling retard. Luck should be getting daily foot rubs from him since he made that dude's career. long story short, Luck is at the very worst going to be a top 5 qb for the forseeable future (imo, him and Rodgers are going to be the new Manning/Brady for the better part of the next decade. Wilson will probably be like Romo if they open up that offense more when lynch leaves). He absolutely deserves whatever payday is coming his way, and from a $ perspective, whatever they sign him to now is going to be middle of the pack money in 5, maybe as little as 3 years. You pay that money if you know you will be top 5 at the most important position. 25 mill a year is just too much imo. Dude's making 3.4 mill in 2015 and maybe you can front load some FA signings if you keep that in place, but you made the same point I was trying to make in that the offense is below average around him and the defense lacks any real stars. Being in the top third of the league for an extended period is pretty rough to navigate because they literally get what comes to them in the draft. I just see this team being the same as it was with Peyton where there's regular season success and a playoff win or two but never a real contender. Other "top" QB's like Rodgers (which you mentioned and is probably the best comparison) are getting 20-22 mill on average throughout their contract. That extra 3-5 mill gets you an upgrade at probably 2 positions? It just feels like the Colts gave up too much leverage in the talks if this is how it actually plays out and he averages 25 mill a year...
Inflation means that the average yearly salary goes up for all qbs. That's why you had people bugging out when middle of the pack guys like Alex Smith Eli and Cutler got big deals since they were making almost as much or more than better qbs who signed a few years earlier.
With Luck, they are buying up prime years, where he will most likely have his best stats and have the best chance of getting the biggest contract possible. It would be a crazy game of chicken to force him to play out his contract when he's clearly outplayed it. Why risk pissing him off, having him throw 40+ Tds again and say fuck you I want 30 per?
Luck making 3.4 just means he is insanely underpaid, and that the team hasn't done a whole lot while having oodles of cap space. Not every team managed to time have their franchise qb blossom while the team around him is at its peak like Seattle. Considerin the importantce of the position, it is foolish to go back to square one rather than paying your elite talent. And as demonstrated, you inevitably have to pay your qb, even the average-above average crowd. Outside of the year Dilfer farted his way to a champtionship there really hasn't been a cheap crappy qb who has won.
