Lactose intolerance is much more common than most people are aware http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/lactose-intolerance I've done whey shakes with milk as well, just not quite as many of them as I've done with water. I also eat a lot of cheese, greek yogurt, and have in the past drank as much as 1/2 a gallon of milk every day for weeks on end with not change. Guess I'm just not sensitive to lactose.

do you think it might be a bit dangerous? Seems like the kind of thing that can cause muscule injuries easily.

Then if this program interests you, you should go for it. However, many people here prefer a barbell workout or something that will last a lifetime for many reasons. Health should be something that lasts a lifetime, something that doesn't stop once you get lean. The 60 days or 8 week program or whatever you ever do should only be a stepping stone, something you start off with but have a vision of where you're going to go afterwards. If insanity is only something to get started with, then go and create a habit with fitness through the program. Another thing is that many here consider strength to be a great part of being healthy. It's up to you if you value raw power much, but you may gain more actual strength and muscle through a barbell workout.

Seems like the kind of thing that can cause muscule injuries easily. You're not likely to injure yourself, because bodyweight HIIT training (basically what insanity is) is very self-regulating. When you get too tired, you're not going to move as fast, and when you're tired is when the injuries would be most likely to happen. If you are going to injure yourself, it's going to be minor stuff - brought your foot down wrong and rolled an ankle, etc. But that's just as likely to happen running, playing a sport, or whatever other cardio you try to do. There are a couple problems with insanity though: 1. It doesn't teach you how to eat sustainably. You get a "diet" with the program, but you don't know why you're eating what you're eating. You don't learn to set up your own meals, so you don't know what to do when you finish the program. 2. It's a good way to drop some weight over 60 days. What do you do when you get done? People look at insanity as a program that you do, get in shape, and then "boom, I'm in shape I don't need to workout anymore lol" - it's not a sustainable attitude because you're never "done" exercising and being healthy, it's a life-long thing. 3. There's no actual muscle building here. You'll drop a few pounds sure, but you're not going to get any stronger or any bigger muscle wise. I've done a watered down version of this program, 3x/week along with lifting heavy weights 4x/week and eating quite a bit more than they recommend to get my cardio up for rugby season, and it worked wonderfully, but I think a lot of people are going to expect a beach body when they get to the end of insanity, and instead they're going to get a stick figure. TL;DR it's an OK program to start with, but it's not everything. Use it as a stepping stone, and don't forget to lift weights.

edit: oh, and people say you should drink it IMMEDIATELY following your workout... is waiting ~20 minutes too long? Maybe a dumb question, I know... but I read I should drink it in the locker room basically... I was gonna wait till I get home from the gym (with changing/riding my bike home, about 15-20 minutes)

Google search says it's Creatine/BCAAs/Glutamine "for post workout recovery" The types of amino acids in there leave me to believe that the only thing worth taking in the supplement is the creatine, so you can just take it whenever. AFAIK the only research where glutamine actually works is when it's injected, and even then it's at higher doses than this is giving. Taurine is basically a filler. They list 8.3g per serving of L-glutamine/glutamic acid/"whey hydrolysate peptides" (fuck proprietary blends. This is definitely one thing cannibal got right) in a 9.7g serving, and there's still the taurine & whatever complex to fit in to there. So at best you;'re getting like 1g of creatine per scoop. A standard dose of creatine is 5g, and you can get 100 servings of that for like 10 bucks. In short, it looks like most other supplements; marketing and shiny labels. Go ahead and take it, since you got it for free. There's absolutely nothing in there that will hurt you. immediately after/20 minutes fter is not going to make a difference. Just don't expect it to turn you into Konstantin Konstantinov overnight.

BCAAs are free amini acids. I wouldn't buy a proprietary blend because they are overpriced and the ratios are out of whack. But all of those ingredients seem at least marginally useful. Although pre- or peri- ingestion may be just as good or better. Normally you take creatine post workout because uptake in increased during the insulin spike of a whey shake or carb ingestion after a workout. The other ingredients however are useful all the time pretty much.
