Real vs Bayern is like best team vs second best team (no particular order atm imho), so I am really pumped for these matches.
Dude this will be really sick!
I will always remember the penalty shoot-out in the semis of 2012. Was such a nailbiter!
Hope it will be real nice match, with Bayern winning in the end though.
Also I'd say if Real wins against Bayern, they literally won the CL. But if Bayern goes through, its again 50/50. Since Chelsea and Athletico are both really hard opponents for Bayern.
Well in the end I just hope for good games

And miss a Mourinho team crush Real's la décima dream in their first Champions League final in 12 years. A year after he was forced out of the club and he beats them with a transitional Chelsea team without a striker. You wouldn't want that to happen just so you can see the press conference after the match?
Would suck for Real fans... but dem Spanish media tears nom nom nom

The three remaining teams in the CL are the current only teams in the world able to beat bayern probably real by trying to outscore them and chelsea/athletico through solid defense and counterattacks
|
i guess we all saw that Bayern is not that megamegastrong, I dont think theyd be more than a 60% favorite in the finals. good strikers can outclass their defense. but still Bayern rightfully has the role of Goliath nowadays

I think the draw is by far the best. The 4th english team in a row for bayern would have been pretty boring even tough I think chelsea would deliver the closest and most attractive game against bayern (never thought I would say that). AM vs Chelsea looks like it could be 2 great games with noone having an advantage through playstiles, just 2 teams with equal strength going head to head. No matter how it ends we will have a great storyline for the final. It's either "the underdog" or up and coming team with all the sympathy in AM against the reigning champions, a city derby (would be the first time in champions league final?) or Mourinho vs Guardiola, the rematch of 2012, the rematch of the super close super cup final 2013...
I think it's guaranteed fun for the finish of the season and after that WORLD CUP YEEHA

Yeah we need to highlight the fact we had the best champions league knock out stage in a long time and after all this is done....WORLD CUP fuck we are very lucky this year :D
Plus 2 of the big 3 (i guess Germany is big 3 league) domestic leagues are going to go pretty close to the last game of the season to determine who is the winners of said leagues, pretty cool :D

No team has won back to back Champions League throphies since it's inauguration in 1993? 94? 92?
So if they reach the final they've already done great, especially with a new coach/style of play.

Barça is just better than Madrid atm. Madrid is third on La Liga and their CL run is a joke. They also have scored less goals in La Liga than Barça, and conceded more goals.
The next games will decide who is better in the end. CL semifinals, Copa finals, last games (and champion) of Liga :D

I'm still yawning when I have to think of the ro16. The quarterfinals were great though, but overall Im not sure if I'll remember this season in any special way a few years from now.

The loan system in England is absolutely out of control. The obvious issue is that they don't allow players on loan to play against the parent club which creates a disadvantage to all other clubs in the league which have to face a team like say Everton at full strength while Chelsea do not have to play against Lukaku. No other league has this ludicrous rule that I know of but it's absurd in the EPL. Beyond that however, the top clubs with the most financial power are buying young talents wholesale, with no intention of playing them in their first team, but simply with loaning them out and hope a few of them pan out for the future. This damages competition in your league, other leagues and probably the development of the player himself if he's shuffled around on loan too many times. Chelsea for example, has 30 players out on loan (I'm sure they are not the only offenders, all top teams are like this). This is crazy. There needs to be a limit to how many players can be loaned out at once so that top clubs don't destroy smaller clubs and especially smaller leagues where players are already getting bought out routinely at age of 16. If top clubs couldn't loan all these prospects out then it wouldn't be financially advantageous to them to buy them in the first place.

Despite my dislike of the loan system however, I feel Chelsea have been hard done by the Courtois situation and should feel pretty miffed. The language in Uefa's laws regarding this issue are somewhat vague and furthermore, Atletico and Chelsea agreed to a contract both parties thought were legal at the time. Atletico essentially has reneged on this contract. Things are further complicated by the fact Chelsea don't want to alienate their future goalkeeper in Courtois and the fact they are interested in buying Costa. Basically Chelsea is fucked and simply must let Courtois play if they want to do what's in their best interests. Must be a bit galling though haha...

Chelsea might feel betrayed by Atletico, and somewhat rightfully so.
But the implications for the future are much larger and that's why UEFA's statement is so important. As you pointed out, the loan system is getting out of hand with rich clubs hoarding talent they could never develop themselves. Clubs that get richer and richer btw.
This clause would not seem so harmless, if for example a team like Vitesse would make it to the semifinals on the back of Chelsea B-teamers, only to then have to play without them against Chelsea. It would be a bad joke, insulting to all football fans and especially the fans of the teams that would have had to face a full strength Vitesse before that point.
But even in this case there is a chance that Atletico wouldn't have made it to the semifinals without Courtois and another team would be there instead.
The solution is simple: Either Courtois is a normal Atletico player with no clauses specific to any one team in the competition or he may not be registered at all. In the future this should be clear to all parties that are involved in loans and taking part in UEFA competitions, and that's a good thing.
But it's only a first step, and like you, I think there must be a limit to the number of players that can be loaned out, I don't want to see once respectable clubs that shaped their own destiny reduced to feeder clubs because it's more sustainable.
|
Its no betrayel if you sign something willingly that's illegal and then don't comply. Everything illegal in a contract js simply void.
|
Just seen the semifinals pairs. Awesome games to come! Atletico in the finals would be a big surprise, but they play really well and entertaining. Can't wait for the games!

Same here. I won't easily forget the disappointment of the ro16 and I think only a Dortmund comeback could have made this campaign special, but now yeah I don't think many will remember things to come. (Unless Atletico win the champions league)
