Firstly, summing up the strengths and weaknesses of his new Mercedes, Lewis said: “The engine is the strongest point, the downforce is the weakest point. Nice and easy.”
He also set out the team’s target in terms of performance. “I think that people are talking us up at the moment. Vettel and Fernando are saying that we’re going to compete for the World Championship. I really don’t see that happening. Of course that’s our goal, but you’ve got to remember the car was over a second, sometimes two seconds, off last year. We haven’t caught two seconds up and the other teams would have put another second on this year, so we’ve not gained three seconds. That’s just a fact.
“Hopefully by the end of the year, we’ll have gained three seconds – that’s our goal. But definitely not at the beginning.” Hamilton added that he is targeting top ten finishes in the early races.
Aww Lewis xD i wanted you not to say this so i can be hopeful, but alas, i will have to settle down and shave my optimistic views xD
Can't argue with his math but I thought most of his problems were from the pits and bad luck issues (crashes/equipment failures) rather than his speed?

Welcome to sunny Spain! Testing weather in Barcelona on Thursday and Friday 8-9°C, rain, wind gusts up to 70km/h Saturday and Sunday supposedly to be better with up to 13°C

Latest rumors indicate that Sutil got the race seat at Force India, but still there's nothing official. Also, Luiz Razias seat at Marussia might not be that fixed because his sponsors didn't pay in time, that's why he wasn't testing last time.

Happy to see Sutil return to be honest, the guy gave DiResta a beating the first time and you have to say if he does it again it could end any hopes Paul has for a top team. Rain won't be a welcome sight to any of the teams, and more is forecast tomorrow.

I think if Sutil gives anyone a beating again that'll be the end of him in F1 too ;-)

Razia actually axed because his sponsors couldn't pay, people suspected this since last week. Bianchi confirmed as replacement, I'm kinda excited for him.

That was a rather short F1 career for Razia. But I feel sorry for him, since it is clear that he was only there for the money. But what das Bianci has to offer? Engines by Ferrari? At least he has some experience in an F1 car, something Chiton and Razia were lacking and would benefit a small team like Marussia a lot.

Yeah, Bianchi really has everything. Testing with Ferrari and Force India, thus experience in an F1 car, even a recent one as he tested for FI just last week Some decent sponsor money. Not too many sponsors, but still some (notably Puma, some car part dealers, exclusive watches manufacturer) see here. I still think they might not break even with Glock's buy-out and should be on the backfoot, HOWEVER... ..there is a connection to Ferrari, which wanted too see Bianchi in a permanent F1 seat for quite some time now. Considering Marussia's recent statement about the uncertainty of Cosworth's V6 engine future, to me it looks like they got a sweet engine deal with Ferrari for 2014/15.
Edit: +5 props to Razia tho http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105799

Happy to see Bianchi get the Marussia seat, was hoping to see him at FI but looking forward to seeing how Sutil will do, it's also a good deal for Marussia with his connection to Ferrari, going to be interesting to see how he'll do due to his experience in testing.

Can you guys help me write up a line or two for van der Garde? Also please tell me if you would rate any team or driver differently than I did; I don't think I'm really off anywhere, but i.e. if the majority thinks that Massa is only a 3/5 or Button is a 5/5 then I'll happily change that (one can't leave out subjective feelings about it, often times, anyway). I'd love to reeavaluate the ratings with you guys after mid-season or so if some driver or team did disappoint or did unproportionally well or so

i cant be bothered with any of these new drivers they arrived based more on their sponsorship money than their driving abiility fia keeps talking about controlling the costs of f1 yet it seems the situation is the worst its been ever
