Read that for more info than you ever wanted to know about the olympic speed/strength overhead press :D I'm sure some of it is applicable to the OHP

Had a bunch of bros and 2 girls around so figured it was worth the risk. Luckily it worked out better for me.

i look forward to trying thumbless so long as i dont fuck up and lose my balance. i have struggled with my ohp grip/form since that forearm/wrist problem that i believe still persists in certain positions

Snatch up to 125, missed 127 like 5 times ~~ CJ up to 143, barely missed jerk at 148 Rest day for the 4th of july then i'll probably go 60-70% on thurs/fri and then hopefully set some PRs on saturday :D Shoulder still feels okay lifting even though i sprained it a week and half ago but it feels like my upper chest and back muscles are compensating for the ac joint ~~

Given I'm doing smolov, instead of doing half assed benches like last time I wanna do benches tuesday/thursday and just hit the gym every day cause I'm a psycopath. I found this program to try out, if I PR once in the entire month I'll be happy enough: http://articles.elitefts.com/training-articles/the-one-drop-method-needs-formatted/ BP: 50x5, 70x5, 80x4, 90x3, 100x2, 110x1, 120x1, 122.5x1, 125x1, 95x10 DB Flies: 10kgx10x5 (straight arms, on the floor) Tricep Kicks or smth like that: 50poundsx8x6 (will add more weight for sure next time) Also I switch my diet from CKC to "Carb back loading". CKC was great to cut, but after a month or so I was just fed up with low carb trough the week, plus bulking is basically impossible, no way u can eat so much meat. Nevertheless I really loved it and my cutting will be for sure low carb. http://articles.elitefts.com/nutrition/carb-back-loading/ 2 days in so far to tell, but my energy levels and recovery are trough the roof. I was barely barely sore after smolov day 1 (122.5kgx9x4) and I'll be at full energy to squat tomorrow. Cant tell if its the diet itself or the 1.5k calores I'm taking after hitting the gym (or the creatine or the vit D, or the soon to be fish oil) Disclaimer: There is no way Carb back loading is healthy, but seems great to bulk/maximize recovery and dont put on so much fat. Would never do it long term, though. That said I don't give a fuck if I put some fat if I can squat 190 and bench 140 withing the following 4 weeks. Stay strong :D Edit @ defac Plz open with 90% on both lifts, dont make the mistake I did on my last 2 competitions on the squat. There is a ton of stuff that is different than training at ur own pace at the gym. Depending on how first lift felt, u can go for PR on 2nd or 3rd attempt.

I'm trying out backloading as well since this week. Mainly because my schedule is gonna get screwed up and I won't be able to eat as healthy, so I hope I can reduce the damage this way.

I haven't had any "serious" DOMs, nor "I'm too tired to go at it". I always squat to max, and try to keep my other lifts up to par, next milestone is that I want to BenchPress 100kg / 220lbs (I'm at 90kg).

So, yeah... Also, benching 100kg for the first time tomorrow. I'm already getting psyched up for it.

They have some insane kit, including Atlas stones up to 240kg, which has only ever been lifted twice. It has all the strongman equipment you'd expect, axles, tyres, logs, cages, farmers walk, frame carry, plenty of bars, etc, etc. Loads of grip stuff (blew my forearms up today). But on top of that their basic stuff was brilliant. To contrast, my gym at the moment is closed for renovation, and they opened up another gym up on a sports campus which you can take a bus to. There is one bar there with a bunch of people waiting for it, because the other empty gym next to it is for performance athletes only and I don't row anymore, so I'm stuck with the one cage and the bar is a proper Olympic bar. I didn't realise this, but that means the bar has almost no knurling so very little grip, and the ends just spin freely. I took the bar out the rack and the ends were wobbling all over the place. It was awful. But all the bars at Strength Tec are are really knurled (they had a big chalk bowl as well) and the ends don't spin for 30mins after a slight twist. All the guys there made me feel tiny though. The guy who runs the gym has been in World's Strongest Man the last few years, he's enormous. After squatting he did some one-on-one and taught me how to log press properly, and said come again and he'll teach me whatever. I thought that was awesome, I know it's his gym but I paid less than an entry fee to a normal gym and he's a World's Strongest Man competitor. He also gave me some programming advice, like I'm going to drop bench press and just press twice a week, one day focusing on going heavy and one day focusing on technique, with some dips and close grip bench as assistance; my bench will go up from that anyway so no problem. He said he hasn't benched in 3 years. I'm going to try and make it over to this gym as often as I can. Really motivated to start training hard. I guess it sounds kinda lame, but meeting a guy that strong and being taught some stuff by him was really motivational.
