Wow, the support from this forum is astounding. Thank you all for your kind words.
Luckily for me, this meet was very small and because the western Canadian championships happened 2 weeks ago, I didn't have too many people of high experience to compete with. On the other hand... I was the only one in the 69kg weight class so winning gold was just plain funny.
In the end, I failed to snatch 65kg behind me which was my only attempt at a record but made every other lift.
Snatched 55, clean and jerked 75 just like I always do in training. I'll try to get some videos up.
I'm just glad I didn't hurt myself. Some poor guy lifting in the 94kg class caught his first snatch at 140 with a bent elbow and pretty badly sprained it before trying it again with it this time collapsing onto the back of his head causing him to tumble backward twice while holding his elbow screaming...
In high school I played a ton of basketball and hit the gym hard. I was still quite fit for the year after high school, but then I got lazy and got really fat. Last month, decided I was getting too fat so I said fuck it diet time (finally).
I've actually already lost almost 15 pounds since I started my diet about 4 weeks ago. Barely did any exercise nor did I hit the gym (very busy with coursework).
Going on leangains with a big caloric deficit (about -1000 per day) and limiting carbs to 100g-150g per day. I've actually already lost 12 pounds since I started my diet about 4 weeks ago. Now that I'm able to hit the gym hard again, I should be able to get that metabolism going more. After not working out at all this semester, and only occasionally working out last semester, trying to regain my old strength levels as I cut to my old (fit) weight of 185lbs (at this weight I could walk around without a shirt on... I hit a peak of 235-240lbs, yikes I know... gained 50lbs over 4-5 years).

Have most of my old strength still, but currently there is a lot of recovery time needed between workouts. Which is ok since I'm still in exams period. General Goal: Hit my old strength levels from a year ago (I was still fat at about 220lbs but I still had decent lifts). Last I checked (last november or so) I had about 155lbs lean body mass, may have gone down to 150 for not having lifted for 3 months.
So I have 40lbs to go, I figure I can get there by the start of September (4.5 months to go). I wanna hit the beginning of next semsester lean so I can do a good bulk (going to set a limit of 20% bf for bulking then).
I found that sticking to my diet was easier than I thought. Don't know why I put it off for so long. Basically I just plan out my meals for the week, doing food prep on the weekends, shoving the stuff into tupperware and then into the fridge. Leangains also makes it easy since you only eat in a certain time period.
Remember y'all, diet is what makes or breaks weight loss.
Edit: for the forseeable future, going for a 3workouts per week plan, 1. chest and shoulders 2. legs 3. back Everything is basically 8reps x 3sets, big compounds, about 5-6 exercises total each workout. Started lifting again about a 2 weeks ago, still can't hit the workouts weekly as DOMS is ripping me a new one but my conditioning should improve and I should be able to hit my stride soon enough.

Awesome! You're cycling calories, though, right? LG is typically at or above maintenance on workout days and below on non-workout days. Higher-carb/low-fat workout days; low-carb/higher-fat non-workout days.
I'm having trouble with my diet. I am looking to low body fat while maintaining or increasing muscle strength. My workout looks like this:
Tuesday/Thursday/Sat or Sunday are my Cardio Days. Tuesday and Thursday are the nights I have my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, and for anyone that takes BJJ, the Cardio is pretty rugged. Takes a lot out of you and requires a lot of exerted effort. Saturday or Sunday (might make it both days, we will see) are my running days. I just go out for a 20 minute -/+ jog to work on some cardio.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday I plan on doing the 5x5 Stronglifts workout. I have the workouts programmed into my iPod, so I can just plug in the weights/reps and BAM, all set. I hope to increase my overall strength with this while cutting bodyfat with the cardio.
If anyone has any recommendations on the workout, feel free to let me know.
Beyond that, I am stalling on the diet plan. Does anyone know of any good meal plans I can follow that would help me achieve my goals? I'd like to keep carbs out as much as possible, but also realize it's a required thing. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah of course. I don't think I could stop myself from passing out if I didnt cycle my calories and carbs on workout days. For now I'm at maintenance on workout days. When exams are over and I am able to workout more often and add in a bit of cardio (mostly because I want to be able to go on lengthy hikes this summer), I'll maybe go a bit above maintenance on workout days.
I forgot to mention but my younger brother helped me in forming my plan a lot. Quite the athlete with experience on this stuff (except he was never fat like me lol, went the other way around, skinny to almost-hyooge-he's getting there). Plus, just nice to talk to someone who knows the ins and outs and just what it feels like to be on a cut.

Check out leangains if you're interested in IF. Look to sweet potatoes, plantains and fruit (bananas, pears, berries) as carb sources. Why are you trying to keep carbs low? Avoid wheat/gluten/grains because they aren't good for you and will make you feel like shit, but carbs are definitely not your enemy if you're not really obese. Cycle between higher carb/low fat on MWF and lower carb/higher fat on non-training days. You might find you need some carbs on BJJ days but don't go overboard.
I'd skip the running. There's really no reason to do it if you're already doing BJJ and it will not help you lose bodyfat whatsoever; it's much better to take an extra rest day and reduce your calories below maintenance on rest days.
I also want to be able to increase cardio-vascular endurance as well, but I think my BJJ can definitely help with that. I want to cut down to 175-180lbs, i'm currently at 205. I know it will be a long, hard road...but yeah, it's something I really want to get done. For more reasons then one.

not acceptable in the US - I'll watch old world's strongest man vids instead!
wait what?
Vid is banned in the US because of copyright, I don't know what's actually going on. Claim is by WMG. The closest I can come to world's strongest man is old WSM met RX vids on youtube =(

There is some music playing in the video, prolly why it is banned.

if it helps, I can watch 2010 videos, and I can watch any 2011 videos of the entire championship, but I can not watch individual heats, nor can I watch the finals ( QQ can't watch brian shaw win in all)
