Hey folks. I've decided to run for King of the Web this Christmas in order to raise money for Charity:Water. KOTW offers a $7500 prize for coming in first place, which I intend to use to fund a clean water project in a 3rd world village. If we succeed in funding the project, we will receive pictures, GPS location of the village and information about it's progress.
I joined the contest 3 days late, which allowed a Lets Play channel to get a headstart. However, in under 24 hours, we've managed to acquire 200,000 votes, halving the gap and the site is setup to allow you to vote 10 times per day. Each day, your account acquired 10 voting tokens which can be spent. If you spend all your tokens every day, you will occasionally be given bonus tokens. So while we started off at a disadvantage, I'm confident we can crush the competition and take 1st place. If you are interested in helping support this venture, all you need to do is the following.
1) Head over to http://tinyurl.com/votetotalbiscuit 2) Sign up to the site and verify your email address to create your account 3) Vote every 24 hours. YOU CAN VOTE 10 TIMES, KEEP CLICKING THAT BUTTON UNTIL YOU CAN'T ANYMORE
It's really that simple, it would mean a lot to me if some of you guys supported the cause. We have 11 days to break the back of the opposition and I'm confident that reinforcements from Teamliquid are just what is required to do that.

Let's Player, he started 4 days before we did, that's why he has the lead. We've closed the gap to almost nothing in 30 hours though, so should be fine.

What can I say... props to the community! Of course, we vote for who we want, but it always winds up with someone from "our side" winning, for the better. I really like seeing this, along with YOGSCAST almost raising 50.000 grand (in goats, mind you) for charity! This is actually giving me the best Christmas feeling I've had in many years!
This has been an awesome year guys, not just for me personally, but for ESPORTS as well. Even though we've hit some rough bumps, with tragedies and a madman bomber in Norway, it's good to see life moving on. It's good to see people still wanting to do charity, still thinking about making a difference for others rather than just making a difference for oneself.
I just have one last wish, to leave a little reminder here in this thread. Give a thought to all those here in Norway spending Christmas for the first time without a brother, sister, son, daughter, granddaughter, grandsson, girlfriend or boyfriend. For someone this Christmas will be the worst ever, and if you see someone having a though time, help them. That's what our community is all about guys.
Thanks, happy holidays and may you all have lovely new year!
Usually, I don't participate in events where registration is required, but when TotalBiscuit asks, it's for charity, and he already gave us this beautiful version of Santa Baby: , I will certainly make an exception
P.S. Will there be more singing if you win, TB? Pleasepleaseplease!
Just for the sake of it: PaperbatVG is an awesome Lets Play channel. He will donate some to charity aswell and some will got to making new content on his channel.
I want both to win so i'll stay out of this... Interesting battle however, but i think TB will win =)
Done!!! I will tell my bro too, to join and vote, and maybe some friends too! You got first place for sure if everyone from here votes and it will be much easier if everyone here tells to someone else to vote too!
I will tell other SC2 guys from the greek starcraft forum to vote too!

I fail to understand why money would be required to make content for a Let's Play channel. The guy is already making more than he could ever responsibly spend as an 18 year old. As far as I can tell, he intends to spend the majority of the money on a new PC or something.

TB I like you, but why do you have to talk your competion down? I'm 25 and i watch his videos and enjoy them a lot. A LOT. Just as much as I enjoy your videos.
In Pbat's intro video for this whole contest he stated that the majority of the winnings would go to charity. A part of the money would go towards making more content on his channel. I am aware that doing a Lets Play video doesn't cost a lot (Buy the game?) but he does do other things then that.
I just find it sad that you have to talk bad about him when I don't think you know much about him or his demographics.
Just as I don't know jack shit about his earnings via youtube - or yours for that sake - so I don't know if he is "making more money than he could ever responsibly spend as an 18 year old." But then again I don't have clue what he uses his money for. Save up? Give to family? Drugs? Gaming rigs? Who knows? Do you?

I think TB is getting a significant amount of unjustified hatred from PBat fanboys who are clearly quite young and irritating.

You're getting awfully upset over a post that couldn't possibly be construed as offensive.
I'm not upset, just slightly disappointed that you had to talk that way about someone I also enjoy. I just provided information that he would donate some to charity as well and you question why he even needs the money if it's a Let's Play channel. You also, wrongfully, claim that he will spend it on a new PC as if you deserve to win more because you spend the money on charity. It just felt like you were trying to act superior to him and it felt wrong...
I just wanted a friendly battle between you and him because I like you both.
So I voted 10 times last night before going to bed and TB was around 300k. Just voted again and he's almost passed the #1 guy in the mid 500ks... sheesh.

But he isn't though
"Most of the money is being spent on you guys then the rest on the secret project". The only mention of charity was a charity livestream which while an honourable thing, shouldn't really be something you have to bribe people with. Plenty of us stream for charity frequently without having to be asked to.
The rumours about him giving the money to charity are just that, rumours. I have absolutely nothing against the guy, he can run for whatever reason he wants and spend the money on whatever he wants, but I do have a problem with misinformation.
Just voted for you, it let me vote 40 or so times? A la it changed it by 40 or so. Which was weird. In any case good luck. Though I have to say it was tedious to sign up and all @_@
In his introduction video to the contest he said the majority would go to charity. What he does in the end I don't know. (Hadn't seen the setup video as it does not interest me the slightest)
He should mention that you can keep those 'earned votes' (the ones you get from voting 5 times in a row) for later use in the battle royale! As long as TB is winning, I'm keeping my earned votes for the Battle Royale!
Earned Votes never expire and there's never a limit to how many you can earn. You can hold on to them as long as you like, even from one election to the next. Want to save them for Battle Royale? Go ahead!
loool so when I last voted (24 hours ago or so) you were like 15k behind, now you are like 140k ahead? Well done good sir xD let us see how high the number can get in 8 days
Totalbiscuit: You can store your bonus votes that most of you will get tomorrow for the Battle Royale contest next year, where we can potentially win a TON of cash for charity. Since we're comfortably ahead, I'd suggest just storing your bonus votes rather than using them in this contest.
Just a few hours after I posted it in this thread, I'd like to think I was the one who told him first :3 Not that it really matters though :p TB still going strong, almost 200k votes ahead!:D
how come TB had to buy a sponsored thread for this? seems to be more about the charity side of things than promoting himself? and he does so much for TL anyway. odd
