yeah not only is it just much less fun and less variety without the Pvx matchups in later stages of tournaments, it also makes the competition much more one-dimensional. the 1-2 best TvZ players plow through gauntlets of zergs until everything inevitably ends in tears and ZvZ.

Well, when Trap was winning all those tournaments, and GSL ST was a backyard for Protoss, nobody was really complaining and that was on the same patch. So my best guess is for Trap to get back his confidence and get out of his "slump". The next best hope for Protoss, imo, is actually herO with how impressive his return has been, other than his PvZ. MaxPax and Zest (until his military date) will always be a factor.

yeah I actually think the main Protoss hopes these days are the military returnees, herO and Classic. zest leaving is gonna be a huge hit tho, and I have never had any faith in trap.

I am just saying I don't like the recent results, partly from an openly biased perspective(I much prefer european Zerg to korean ones and I like when there are other Terran players around performing as well as or better than Maru), partly from a perspective of overall balance(I like Protoss but having one race represented so few and struggling so hard is never healthy, I wouldn't like Terran or Zerg to be essentially extinct at the highest level the way Protoss has been in the last three months).

Maru absolutely deserves his fans; Maru's fans may be a little too nasty for my tastes but that's just how I see things.
Conversely, I am sure that there are many people here who just want to see koreans dominate Sc2 at all costs; I prefer a more balanced approach, I usually root for foreigners but I think tournaments with reasonably even representation and, if possible, KR vs non KR finals are just the best. I wouldn't want to see an endgame scenario with all the koreans washed up, retired or in the army EU dominating, just as I hated the BW 2.0 scenario during HoTS's darkest days.

No offense but you come off very biased, I doubt you'd be bored or sad if it was purely EU dominated. I think if all the Koreans retired / went to military and the scene was EU dominateed, you wouldn't be expressing this sentiment as you are now.
