I really believe he has a shot be a champion there now, but won't know till I actually see it. well, why would he? he gets great practice in EU anyway, he's clearly the best without going to GSL and it's obviously easier to make money outside of Korea, so why would he?

Every top-korean from last 8 years could have done the same as him : win WCS without others koreans, win 1 Korea weekender and a Blizcon. (Rogue, Life, etc.). Versus Koreans not knowing his play-style. And a Blizcon with a very good group and drawing (ZvZ obv his best MU vs koreans ) Lol, that's straight-up delusional. Ignoring all the ridiculous stuff afterwards, what about his play do you find boring? Also, did you also find MMA's Blizzcon win boring? Did you find sOs' Blizzcon wins boring? Like, if Serral is boring to watch you might just not enjoy watching SC2.

Obviously it's just a fan fantasy. But the koreaphiles won't admit he's the best until he wins a GSL tournament, so I'd really love it if that happened.

Not because he can't possibly win, but I don't think the math works out in terms of risk vs monetary reward. Also it'd actually piss me off if he won any significant money whatsoever over there, totally unfair for Koreans.

And a Blizcon with a very good group and drawing (ZvZ obv his best MU vs koreans ) The unique real way to assert his real level is playing multiple time in the best competition, the GSL. But ehhh free money thanks to race discrimination feels good and so he will stay in apartheid-closed WCS, i guess. Well, to be technical Grrr won the second OSL I think but I agree what Serral's done is incredible and even though it breaks my heart to see Stats lose, it will be good for the scene in terms of viewership. I agree with the rest of what you said.

That would be so hype if he did.

One thing is that, while I believe Serral is the best player in the world, I do think that, for example, with a month's preperation Maru or some others may beat him convincingly. He hasn't had as much experience to prepare for precise crafted bullshit against him. I would say that Serral is the best weekend-style-tournament player(was sure of this before the tournament) and also the best player in the world, even if he turns out to not being the best preparation player. So, if he decides to stay the best non-preparation (better to say less-preparation I guess) tournament player, and not try his luck with different cultures and potentially not-as-good tournament results, instead focusing on WCS, can we blame him?

I have to agree. His defense is actually unbelievable. His only weakness is the midgame near the first max imo.

Pretty much every match sucked except for his series and then Special vs. Classic

I mean yes it would be hype but at the same time don't you think it'd be really shitty if he made a deep run? The Korean scene is starved enough as it is in terms of compensation, why should he be allowed in the gsl if koreans aren't allowed in wcs? He's capable of beating all of them clearly... I frankly don't think it's fair. I was in favour of the region lock but now I think allowing a few spots for koreans in the wcs circuit isn't a bad idea, if that happens then Serral can win all the gsl he wants ![]()
