You mean Chelsea clutched it out like Rogue, not Serral.

He wouldn't, we both know it. Serral just gets the foreigner hype bonus.

Yeah you should have results in the major sc2 tournament if you want to have the best feats in the year...

Serral ftw! Absolute beast and best player of 2018 no doubt!
Maru is a great second :-)

TRUE would totally be considered player of the year, because he'd have beaten the Korea-based Koreans in the tournaments where they met, just like Serral. Look at how prime TaeJa was considered as at least on par with Korea-based Koreans, and often better : that was because he dominated foreign events and beat the supposedly superior "real" Koreans when they met. Same with Serral.

Oh, and there's also how you win. Serral looked absolutely without equal here, and from what I can gather it was pretty much the same for his WCS wins. A TRUE who'd be as dominant would absolutely be considered as godlike.

you mention Taeja as if it bolsters your point when it does the opposite (Taeja dominate overseas, but never won a Code S)

It's on point:Taeja didn't win Code S AND Blizzcon and still was acclaimed as the best player of the year(2013?).

Prior to blizzcon I was pretty certain that Serral was at least the 2nd best player by a large margin, I wasn't part of the clueless that believed dark/rogue were or even that they had a shot, but I'm still not convinced that Serral is superior to Maru, or that he could replicate what he did this year.
So... what that make you? Good? You're not good. You just know how to hide, how to lie

BlizzCon level Serral could win 3 GSL; he's better than Maru, at the moment.

Unfair to Serral to say "well he didn't play Maru" when it's Maru's fault they didn't play in the two tournaments they were both in. Serral made it all the way through and won, Maru could have beaten him and settled the issue that way but he lost before reaching Serral in both cases.

Serral can only beat who they put in front of him, and he did that.

Late to party. Congratulations Serral for winning the most important tournament of the year!
So the time has come when non-korean is the best player in the World! It is really impressive and important moment in the history of StarCraft!

In pretty much every sport I know it counts who is on top at the END of a season. Not the beginning, not the middle.
If you see Blizzcon at somewhat of a playoff thing between two conferences (USA style) or as a champions league (EU Style). The result is the same: Serral

nobody considered Chelsea the strongest team in the world when they won the champions league. They just clutched it out when it counted like Serral.

also the comparison isn't very good to begin with because basketball/football don't have a GSL-equivalent.

Which year? 11/12 Chelsea won the CL true, but they didn't win Premier League by a large margin like Serral did WCS. They were placed 6th. Bad example on your part.

I also didn't include curling or golf. What's your point?
I did mention the US system though with conferences and divisions which does support my argument IMO. Feel free to argue though

Taeja did well internationally and in Korea during his peak, I watched those tournament runs and he didn't win global or gsl due to a combination of luck more so than his actual skills, if I recall correctly, during a time when zerg was OP, he lost to Roro(?) in round of 4 I think, who went on to win the whole thing, and thereafter, it seems he would lose to the eventual tournament winners, and at a time he regularly beats life in tournaments, he lost a close 3-4 series in global, i think the sample size was just too small for him, his overall records at the time against "top koreans" was stellar
