This really makes you question a lot about Maru in many ways.
Could he have won if every other teamhouse didn't fall down? Could he have won if Rogue and sOs and his coach and other teammates didn't help him practice? Could he have won if Serral was there?
Serral on the other hand has quietened all of his critics time and time again.
GOAT? Certainly up there. Noone has ever had a year like this in the history of SC2, from any region or time.

Why can't we just say: Maru, Stats, Serral = best players of their races. Serral = best player of 2018 by a small margin above Maru.
inb4: "But he never played Maru!" "But he lost in WESG!" "But the grass is always greener on the other side!"
Here's the deal: Serral won Blizzcon. Structurally, it's just another weekend tournament, stretched over 2 weeks.
But it's f...ing Blizzcon. It was Maru's fault against sOs. Don't get me wrong, Maru is utterly amazing. But he didn't win Blizzcon.
So long, thanks for all the fish.

Hi Rodya I mean Dave4, I guess it’s your main account nowadays given what happened, welcome among us .
It’s great to see Serral win tho It was a bit irritating to still see many people doubt him after the various demonstrations of skill he gave us all year long
The man is a mechanics monster
He is like prime soO with more confidence and a better brain

GOAT with only a year of results. The level of delusion of some Serral fans is interesting.

It's not that easy to say that Maru is better than TY; in the finals, they played against each other were toe to toe.

GOAT Title is still between MVP and Innovation... but still, Serral is the best we have right now. And seeing how Maru played I doubt that he would've had any chance.

Oh.. all of the Koreaboos still think Maru is the greatest after that pathetic choke 3-0 loss in the round of 8. Hashtag Sad. Maru choked under the pressure of trying to win blizzcon. Hide in your imaginary world if you will, but Serral is on another level. If it was a Maru vs Serral final, it would have been a similar result of Serral victory, but unfortunately Maru is too much of a choke artist to entertain this hypothetical scenario.

Serral has been best player for 12 months consecutively. It's unprecedented. Something something Maru trashed him at WESG 3-0 on an even patch Too bad sOs and Maru robbed us of the real final I’d keep considering Maru as the greatest player of 2018, nobody will win 3 GSL consecutively in a long time Maru was 2nd best - Stats was 3rd best I doubt Serral could win a code S, let alone two, never three across patches in a row. So no sorry, WCS are cute, BlizzCon is great but champions can win BlizzCon, hell even sOs won 2. Who can win 3 code S in a row? Who will ever do that again? :D goalpost moving never stops 4 GSL championships in a row while winning everything else and we can talk about best player. :^)

Maru is still best player of 2018. 3 GSL + WESG > Blizzcon + 4 WCS + GSL vs the World. Still Serral is best in the world right now and in terms of achievements he's probably up there with Dark, Rogue and Byun as top 4-7 LOTV players (probably the fourth greatest tbf but he's in the same league basically). I would say the greatest is Stats and the Innovation and Maru are like tied.

Serral may have won Blizzcon, but how many EPS championships does he have?

Serral is a beast, what a performance.

He's definitely the best player in the world right now, especially at week ends tournaments. It's hard to judge an hypothetic Maru vs Serral match but stylistically Serral should have quite an edge.

Serral is boring to watch. People are only excited because he's a foreigner. Plain and simple racism. Every top-korean from last 8 years could have done the same as him : win WCS without others koreans, win 1 Korea weekender and a Blizcon. (Rogue, Life, etc.). Versus Koreans not knowing his play-style. And a Blizcon with a very good group and drawing (ZvZ obv his best MU vs koreans )
The unique real way to assert his real level is playing multiple time in the best competition, the GSL. But ehhh free money thanks to race discrimination feels good and so he will stay in apartheid-closed WCS, i guess.

Yes yes of course, the science is undeniable. 4 times 3 divided by the square root of doritos; it's so obvious people gawl!

Not really, I mean I would agree if Maru actually put up a fight.

It's not that easy to say that Maru is better than TY; in the finals, they played against each other were toe to toe. TY is very good @ TvT, but he has problems in the other matchups. But honestly, judging Maru is pretty hard, because his style negates the "normal" meta. sOs showed that Maru can be hard countered, but to do that you basically have to know Maru's builds inside out. Usually, Maru just breaks opponents with decisiveness and relentless aggression.

Serral is not boring to watch. He and Rogue are the best management style zerg players out there. Their skill in the late game is just mind boggling. Serral might not be flashy, but his decision making and his efficiency are truly amazing to watch.
