It does a few very clever things to save bandwidth but still get the good quality. Most are company intellectual property so I can't share, but the FAQ has some details about some of the things we do (such as use UDP rather than TCP) etc.
Glad you like the quality though - anything you think could be improved?

the video quality option seems to suggest that enhanced hd is higher quality than source? that doesn't make any sense, I mean you could be using some fancy upscaling algorithm or frame interpolation but even that is arguably worse quality than source

RE the BRB - we are trying to find a good way to make the break screen more obvious and less like it is frozen. I definitely see why that is confusing!
On the quality, Enhanced HD is a higher quality than Source.

Again, not an expert, but how is it possible to have higher quality than source?

On the quality, Enhanced HD is a higher quality than Source. is the logic that source sounds the same as what twitch has so the max quality had to have a new name? the data has to come from somewhere, the streamer is the source, source means the original video stream sent by the streamer so it is the best, but I could see it just being a marketing decision to rename some things

i never won anything so i am just curious Beating Solar would've been a lot more about prestige and self confidence than pizza money.
Didn't see this but glad Solar won, he is one of my favorite players.

well being able to say i won WCS America is probably more important than killing solar in bo5 so i would say it is not that prestigious either

"Do I practice and play Starcraft for two hours and gain experience just laddering against random people, or do I practice and play Starcraft for two hours, gain competitive experience, compete with a high level opponent, and possibly win money?"
I mean.. why wouldn't he?
And of course 200 dollars is something to care for. Just because you're winning a good prize pool once every couple of months (which is a rare case), doesn't mean you suddenly devalue all money.
