ah i see, that makes sense... you need an uneven number of maps....
a few thoughts:
have you given any thought to the map vetoing system not being loser picks? i know its the been the vetoing system of choice in past 2v2 tournaments, but imo in some circumstances it leads to teams being gifted free wins (e.g. when GSL was still loser picks during the infestor broodlord era and every zerg picking daybreak after a loss or in 2v2 games TZ picking reclamation in the most recent 2v2 tournaments). that is why most tournaments have adopted a different vetoing system so the worst maps for a player/team can be excluded. it just leads to higher quality games.
if the system stays with loser picks, are teams allowed to change races between maps? most tournaments specified rules on this.
with the choice of the map pool have you thought about what types of games you want to see and what perhaps will give a new face to 2v2 for outsiders? I think a big stigma that 2v2 has is that its "only hellion/ling" or "reaper/ling" or "double proxies" or "marauder ling" and of course it is far more than that, but perhaps it would be good to select a map pool that presents the most interesting games to spectators (mostly arguing against crooked maw here i guess if the vetoing system stays loser picks)

crooked maw is impossible to wall in time (i have no idea which moron had the idea to make the ramp that wide on such a small rush distance)
maybe there are ways to hold early ling pressure or w/e rushes. but if there are real imba early allin strats (that cant be hold efficiently even while scouted + gm micro) i would take it out of the pool.
on the other hand i dont mind games which develop from holding early allins. can still be funky^^

I wish craj was around for this..

So you suggest adding 2 maps to the pool, and then let each team remove a map from the pool (possibly excluding the starting map), and then losers pick?

I would suggest this format (quoted from the WCS player handbook):
For all Best of 3 Games Matches, Player A must veto one Map first, then Player B must veto two Maps, and then Player A must veto one more Map. The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Match. Player B must choose the Game 1 Map and then Player A must choose the Game 2 Map. The Game 3 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen or vetoed.
For all Best of 5 Games Matches, Player A must veto one Map first and then Player B must veto one Map. The vetoed Maps won’t be played in the Match. Next, the Players must alternate choosing each Game’s Map, starting with Player A choosing the Game 1 Map. The Game 5 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been vetoed or chosen for Games 1 - 4.

Dont like playing 2v2 but I do like watching it. Going to follow this if I can time the cast.

if new maps are needed I could jump out of retirement for a moment and make something better than what blizzard throws in the map pool.

When will the registered teams/ a bracket be revealed? It'd be interesting to see if any notable players signed up for this
Best of luck with running the tournament, Baz!

i think it should be easy for someone like u to find a decent ally since ppl could be lucky to have u on their team. in case they are not active atm just play some rt games until u reach max mmr. there will be enough ppl u can meet on ladder looking for a good ally i guess

(binarybeast could be rather constructed for 1v1?^^)
however we maybe can make a list with who is on which team, so ppl can look it up somewhere

I'm going to stick with losers pick veto system for this one. I've removed Crooked Maw, added Old Country in.
I assumed binary beast required two people to sign up to make a team, guess not...I will contact each team and make a full player list.

ok guys here i just did some math:
bo3: top64, top32, top16, top8 --> 4*3 = 12 bo5: semis, finals --> 2 * 5 = 10
so extended case scenario is like 22 games on one day. aww

Not sure if this has been answered or not, are there any restrictions on team compositions? In the past 2v2 tournaments I've played in the only way to double race (ie Z/Z) was to play X/R and the random player lands on the same race as their partner. Is that going to be the case here, or are we allowed to queue up as a double race team?

hmm I haven't put much thought into this. I'm gonna leave it open for this one and let people choose whichever race they want. See how it goes and adjust for the next one in December.

For maps this tournament, I'm gonna stick with the ladder maps. For the next one I plan in December I'll definitely be considering adding some community made maps to make it more interesting.
All participants are permitted to stream their own games during the tournament. Still looking for casters for a main stream. If anyone is interested please email me with a VOD of your casting. Johnbednis@gmail.com
