I guess thats the problem with a non elo based invitational.

Well you were pretty close but no one said the last game was that good, it was good but most definitely not game of the year material. Except that fourth sentence everything else was right on the money.

I'd seriously rather have either of those guys, OR Snute over Jaedong. Well we'll have to wait and see I guess, we could even end up with Scarlett and Bunny at Blizzcon. I wouldn't mind that. Scarlett going to Blizzcon would mean she won WCS AM this year and that would be fucking rad, ditto with Bunny. Jaedong going to Blizzcon right now is just due to his traveling and the sheer number of events he's been to. His results in WCS AM have been terrible. The fact he's even in danger of losing his spot after how many events and free points he's soaked up just speaks enough on its own to how nonexistant his results have been this year. He hasn't looked like a player that should be competing at the culmination tournament of the year at all this year. Let someone else more deserving have it.
I think traveling to every tournament is a form of hard work too and should be rewarded. Jaedong did everything in his power to get to Blizzcon, traveling that much isn't easy at all, while still trying to be good. He recently is playing a lot better again, as he showed by winning WEC (he wasn't invited but qualified over Bomber, but still got no WCS points from the only tournament he won) and getting top8 at DH (even beating classic only losing to solar closely who won in the end). Sure he didn't perform in WCS, but he also had extremely hard groups and the system right now works the way it does. Jaedong did his best in the current system to get to Blizzcon and if he does it he deserves more than any player who didn't get there. For example Acer would have sent Scarlett to more tournaments if she wanted, but she didn't go to as many. So if she doesn't get there she doesn't deserve it more than Jaedong, since he took every opportunity and just tried harder. Now if she wins WCS AM, she deservers it more vice versa of course, since she just performed that much better in WCS.
I hope they change the system next year, so only WCS gives WCS points, or at least only top4 of DH/IEM etc. gives WCS points, but that's not how it's been this year. So anybody who has the points deserves to be there this year, regardless of how they got them.

Well, a Zest vs INnoVation finals is possible if INnoVation gets 16th seed and zest gets 2nd/3rd seed, or if INnoVation gets 15th seed and Zest gets 4th seed.

I don't think that travelling that much is easy, but my problem with that approach is that travelling per se has nothing to do with Starcraft skills and certainly adds nothing to the scene. "Performing well while travelling a lot" is not a skill I'm interested to see in any player.
Plus let's be real, travelling is easier than being better at the game, otherwise the pros wouldn't do it that much.

This and nothing else. Everybody knew how the system works. If players are too stupid to understand or too lazy to travel they don't deserve to be at blizzcon.

Yeah, I hope Polt, MC or Bomber gather enough points so that we avoid a Zest - INno ro8.

Yeah chances are someone will jump Zest I'm guessing. That's more likely that someone jumping Bogus. MC making the finals, San winning, Bomber winning, Polt winning. Those are more likely than the scenarios where someone jumps past Bogus.

Hm I think traveling koreans add a lot to the scene, holy shit, how much more hype was IEM because Flash went there? I also think you underestimate how far behind you fall by travelling to tournaments one after the other. It's really hard and many pros decide to stay at home, so their chances in WCS increase instead.
Edit: Also the amount of games your opponents get to study, it's a calculated risk pros take by visiting non WCS events, since it's only worth it if you go really, really far.

haha no, what I mean is that travelling per se doesn't add anything to the games, or to the players. Of course it is needed for Koreans to attend foreign tournaments until they could establish themselves in Europe, but as I said "being able to perform well while travelling a lot" is not a skill I expect the players to have, I rather have them all being good at mindgames, series planning, etc something related to the game itself.
Not sure if I'm making my point clear :/ it's too early in the morning
