I hope dayshii busts out the mech and crazy builds to make it out of this group. He drawn very bad groups this entire year. This is 2nd time he's been in the same group as forgg.
Going to be MC and Stardust, I freakin' WISH Dayshi would pull off a miracle and get through the group but he's going to have to play out of his mind at least MC and Stardust usually (99% of the time) play great, fun to watch games.
As sad as it is, I don't see Dayshi going through. :-( Although, you never know. French people can't handle being favorites, but they're really good when everybody counts them out (see: football, basketball, tennis players, and generally everyone that isn't playing handball or Sebastien Loeb 'cause they just win all the time) !

Dayshi won game 1 against MC at HSC9 and lost 3-1. But it's still a good start.

It was bad because TaeJa was wearing a headset onto another headset.

Hasn't that been the hallmark of his entire career? Mixing beating GSL champions with getting swept by foreigners.
It's not whether he loses or wins, or executes badly. Sometimes you see him play with his MC timings, sometimes he plays a relatively standard macro game.
Then you have games like the last one, where he doesn't really look like he has a plan and goes for a less tight timing than we expect, then transitions into weird things like zero ups.
Well he did get a forge at like 16 mins that game in fairness!

One thing you need to remember too is that Dayshi's starport production was super super late... he reason he held that blink timing so nicely was he delayed his factory in order to get out more bio, then he started making widow mines out of the factory / delayed the starport even further. The decision to go for 6 (or was is 8?) medivacs before starting vikings on the other hand wasn't great, but he didn't see the Collosi for a long time either.

Dayshi could be so much better I think, he just misses a little something to go from being good to being a winner, dunno what it is but it's a bit sad to see him not winning as much as he could.
The Widowmines Dayshi did have kept getting sniped. Hard to tell if MC was target firing well or if Dayshi made them stray too far in front of his army

Widow mines are pretty terrible once Collosus are out and Protoss open Collosus in most games these days.
When I see Templar openers working it reminds me of Bbyong meching out Classic, it was more the latter playing on autopilot than an example of mech being good vP

think that stardust should have warped in more defensive dts, forgg was only on 2 OC (I think) and there were lots of times where a dt would get warped/scanned and then there would be another 30second+ gap before another dt got warped in.

Looks like it. I think he actually will lose now
I thought Stardust was in a better position because I thought he had Thermal Lance because I saw the Robo Bay dancing earlier on, but I guess he cancelled Thermal Lance to get more units so that he could hold as long as he did.
He definitely cancelled it. Why he did is a complete mystery to me.

Yeah, I meant when the Protoss doesn't open Colossus - which is happening more and more, apparently

It's either perfect or a costly folly to do that. Stardust is usually a very smart improvisational player and may have assumed that ForGG, being aware of the DT tech may have been saving OC energy for that very eventuality.

True, I was just surprised.
Was pretty annoying, Snute has showed such a high level lately really thought he had a shot at the whole thing this season

Look at the players that advanced. Bunny has been one of the strongest foreigners recently. Happy has been good for awhile and he got a favorable group draw with only foreigners. MMA is expected (he was there when Protoss was at their peak) YoDa is expected, ForGG is expected. But no don't look at the players names just look at their races...

Like I said, it's a worldwide phenomenon. The best players just happen to play Terran. It has nothing to do with the race. It's a coincidence. Protoss players are mediocre and Zerg players are noskill scrubs. None of this has anything to do with their race.

MMA is expected (he was there when Protoss was at their peak) YoDa is expected, ForGG is expected. But no don't look at the players names just look at their races...
Like I said, it's a worldwide phenomenon. The best players just happen to play Terran. It has nothing to do with the race.
Oh come on. I'm talking about this specific iteration. The Terrans that advanced are all highly skilled players that have been highly skilled since before this wave of Terran success. If Dayshi had advanced I wouldn't have a leg to stand on but as it is this result tells you nothing.

Also Terran hasn't won a GSL since March 2012 (9 straight GSLs won by a Protoss or Zerg). I CAN CHERRY PICK STATS TOO! :D

You should rather bring Korean Zergs in WCS Europe if you want to even out the racial distribution.
We did that once. Bunny killed him.
That reverse kill was sooo good.
Who is the player you guys are talking about?
Sacsri.
Ahh thank you! Now I remember the series. Sacsri destroyed Bunny two games in a row and then lost, right?
Yeah. Sacsri had just won Dreamhack and was seemingly the toughest player in Challenger. He went up two games fairly convincingly and Bunny brought it back

Stop this BS whining.
In Europe you have a Korean contingent including an in-form Yoda, three GSL champions in MMA, Mvp and jjakji among the Terrans. Among the Protoss you have MC, San, First and Stardust.
You don't really have that many Korean Zergs, and the good foreign Zergs didn't play their best Starcraft this season

Terrans have won 4/7 Premiere Tournaments since the 'infamous' patch on July 25th... Zerg has won 2 and Protoss has won 1.
edit: No idea where your numbers are coming from, even if you include the previous two tournaments (Terran wins before the patch) it's 6/9 not 6/8.
edit: No idea where your numbers are coming from, even if you include the previous two tournaments (Terran wins before the patch) it's 6/9 not 6/8.
Yeah it's a typo. 6/9. Why are we supposed to act like we're not seeing a trend? Is this an issue we're supposed to be all hush hush about? Is it a sensitive subject that in a 3 race game a trend has been started that one race wins 2 out of every 3 tournaments and places second in the rest? Can we attribute this to only variance?
We can talk about how Zergs need to shape up their game and how Protoss need to adapt their strategies, but we don't need to act like Terran players just somehow got more skilled either. They got help from Blizzard, and the results are showing. Why is this such an offensive idea?

I'm not so much biased towards the Terran pros who now enjoy success, because they have all certainly been through tough times too and kept playing, than against the general idea that the game is in a good place. It most certainly isn't, because it isn't balanced.

It's not an offensive idea. I personally believe Terran to be the strongest race at the moment. But the absolutely HILARIOUS thing about this is that Zerg and Protoss have both had huge high points since the last time Terran was strong, and I didn't see you asking for a balanced game then. You have picked a time to whine so incredibly fast after Terran has become strong again after Protoss was the strongest for months. You know what Terran got told when they were losing to blink? Get better. Adapt. Oh look sensor towers are the answer! No wait siege tanks are the answer! Find out how to beat it.
So saying a race is strong is not an offensive idea, it is just funny that now you have come out like this has only happened for Terran and this time period is the peak of imbalance in Starcraft 2.

Out of 5 terrans in WCS UE ro8 3 are Koreans. And not bad Koreans. Even Code S champion Jajkji didn't make the cut.
In fact we get 6 good Koreans (out of 8 in premiere league) and the 2 best EU players atm, seems ok to me. So your question is more like : why there are mostly terrans in outside-korea Koreans players ?
But ehh maybe you prefers when the first patchzerg/patchtoss wins top korean terran consistently..... but in this case don't talk about balance :D
And yeah, as Sated (who is a Protoss player) very maturely stated: the map pool is a very big factor to Terran success right now, much like the map pool of maps like Yeonsu and Heavy Rain was a big reason for Protoss success earlier this year.
You know what Terran got told when they were losing to blink? Get better. Adapt. Oh look sensor towers are the answer! No wait siege tanks are the answer! Find out how to beat it.

Well that's just a blatant lie. People didn't tell Terrans to get better or to adapt. In fact the most vocal balance whiners in our community are few certain popular Terran players, and sometimes they have the facts on their side and sometimes they don't. Either way they succeeded and pushed through changes in the game. The interesting thing is that the same people still complain about Terran being underpowered, despite Terran winning everything.

You're hardcore cherrypicking stats (taking wins from before the patch, including one that had top tier T vs mediocre Z and HuK being the best Protoss).
Since the Patch, 4T wins, 2 Z wins and 1P win.
Obviously Terran got buffed and as a result is doing better...
Are they overperforming right now? Possibly vZ, doesn't seem likely vP.

The idea of balancing to get even winrates across the board is abhorrent to me. The only time you need to balance is when the game becomes stale or something is obviously broken. The rest of the time I want players to struggle against the unfairness of the situation and find solutions themselves.
Fruidealer won the first GSL on the worst iteration of zerg with the worst maps possible. Same for Nestea.
Mvp and Taeja beat BL/infestor. Rain solved PvP in WoL. Parting shot forward the TvP meta multiple times in WoL. Life beat pre-nerf WMs and Hellbats. DRG and Curious both beat pre-nerf WMs used by Inno.
Right now Protoss is doing worse in PvT, but it makes the wins by players like herO and MC more meaningful. The way Trap forced storm openings to work on catellena against Cure was amazing. I'd rather have the players and the maps force the winrates to go up and down than just bitch at blizzard to change the patch so we get approximately even results for all 3 races.
You know what Terran got told when they were losing to blink? Get better. Adapt. Oh look sensor towers are the answer! No wait siege tanks are the answer! Find out how to beat it.

It is not a blatant lie. I was literally told to watch random replays of TY holding off a blink all in with a sensor tower because he had, and I quote, "figured it out". And don't give me bullshit about Terrans balance whining the hardest. Players of all races whine. You are the one that is clearly biased by choosing only to see Terran whine

You have dozens of those posts in all the 'designated balance threads' at every forum that exists. I'm sure you can find the ones posted on teamliquid without me doing the work for you. The prevalent mentality that still exists is that when a Protoss wins it's because of the race being overpowered, and when a Terran wins it's because of skill. "nice a move bro"

Calling that game an e-sport is an affront to gaming. The skill cap is so abysmally low that the game plays itself. The design team even says as much in the interviews: The choices the players have during games is an illusion, and that makes it attractive to players of all (and non-existent) interest and skill levels. Anyway I rather talk about Starcraft, where real skill exists, despite the poor state of balance.
edit: No idea where your numbers are coming from, even if you include the previous two tournaments (Terran wins before the patch) it's 6/9 not 6/8.
I don't think it's the idea that's offensive, I think it's your bias towards the idea.
I'm not so much biased towards the Terran pros who now enjoy success, because they have all certainly been through tough times too and kept playing, than against the general idea that the game is in a good place. It most certainly isn't, because it isn't balanced.
Show us similar posts in the protoss era please
You have dozens of those posts in all the 'designated balance threads' at every forum that exists. I'm sure you can find the ones posted on teamliquid without me doing the work for you. The prevalent mentality that still exists is that when a Protoss wins it's because of the race being overpowered, and when a Terran wins it's because of skill. "nice a move bro"
Yeah because there aren't a multitude of 'Zest so good' 'Rain so good' posts around.
People had an issue with relatively bad players prospering because of their race (arguably), similarly in the time of BL/Infestor everyone respected the skill of say a DRG or Life, while bemoaning the rise of the so-called 'PatchZerg'
You're making out like everyone just sits there and says even elite Protoss players have no skill which is patently not the case.

Not bad. Don't really get the appeal of it as an eSport but Blizzard are on to a winner with that.
I think although there is an element of luck, I like to watch it because it has entertainment value (see people watching poker) and also has Warcraft stuff!
Although I haven't played in awhile because I didn't buy Naxx and those cards seem necessary to do well nowadays. I don't like Pay to Win stuff D:
It'll need it's own sub-categorisation at some stage

Calling that game an e-sport is an affront to gaming. The skill cap is so abysmally low that the game plays itself. People don't play Magic the gathering because it takes more skill to win consistently in it. Hearthstone is so random anyone can copy a deck list and get legend. That's your average gamer mentality right there.

I dunno. I played a fairly good beginner deck and went 0-13. Although admittedly my brother who plays hearthstone thought I was pretty good.

I got the complete Naxx expansion on both my EU and AM account without paying easily (I saved about a third of the gold needed in advance). I like to watch it too but as an esport it's a bit iffy imo. Depends on the format.

I wasn't disputing the skill/lack thereof of PassionStone, have no real interest in it. Just don't really get the appeal of watching other people play it, it lacks the visceral fun of SC for me, or a Quake.
That said I went on a browsing binge the other day and holy fuck the vast majority of Twitch content holds no interest for me. Must be getting old

Here's an idea for you. If you played PvP against someone and all your units had 1/1/1 upgrades built into their statline, you'd have an inherent advantage in every game because you'd trade so much more efficiently. You could still lose a lot of games against good players. You'd even lose a lot of three game series and get eliminated from tournaments simply because of variance and build order losses. That said, you'd also beat a lot of players who are better than you, or played better than you, simply because of the built-in advantage that you enjoyed.
What I said may sound obvious, but these sort of advantages exist for all races from time to time and seem to go in cycles, and there's no need for us to not act like they aren't there. Terran at the moment are playing the +1 race.
I suppose the negative reaction to someone voicing this fact is that noone likes to be told their wins are tainted. It's in our nature to think we're skilled in what we do, and that's coincidentally the way Hearthstone has been designed. Everyone who plays it and gets win streaks will think that it's because he's playing so well, when it has nothing to do with it at all. In Starcraft the situation isn't nearly as dire, but the differences are emphasised at the pro level where everyone are so good. Any (unfair) advantage might be enough to tip the scales heavily in your favour. It won't be enough for a scrub to beat a veteran, but it will be enough for a pro to win tournaments against other pros who thought they were well prepared and more skilled.

thats how asynchron balancing works and thats why there is the map factor that can make Terran -1. It just like that one time in WoL, were they went for anti Terran maps and then Blizzard brought in the changes that weakened Terran. And then they found out that Bio is fairly strong when Siege tans became abysmal.

He was referring to the guy who did the group draw by pulling the names out of a bowl. MC said the only person he didn't want to play was YoDa because they are friends/sort of teammates and of course the guy instantly pulled MC as YoDa's opponent. Therefore, MC found him to be a disgrace haha

The guy drawing the names out of the bowl drew MC vs Yoda, the only person MC said he didn't want to play (out of his options of Bunny, Golden, or Yoda). So he called him a disgrace

I feel like among the remaining contenders across all 3 regions, those 2 far surpass all others in the level of uninteresting they would bring to Blizzcon.

Not only there. Happy also knocked Golden out of Copenhagen Games, 3-1 IIRC and has never lost to him offline. Tbh, I think Happy is favored in this, but it should be close.

I think T is the strongest right now, but I also think P players are whining way more than they should (Zergs seem justified in whining, they are doing so shit at the moment).
You just had kespa cup like 2 weeks ago with Hero going 9-1 vs terran, including bitchslapping 2 of the top 5~ current terrans.
And if Zest hadn't lost the semi vs SoO 4-3 in GSL, I think he'd have probably been favoured to win this GSL season.... (Cure might have been favoured to beat him but I dont think Cure is gonna beat Innovation).
He has a chance, but I think his TvZ is still his best matchup by quite a bit, and there's a lot of tough Ts and Ps left. Traditionally I don't think he has the best record vs Korean Terrans?
That being said, he did 3-0 Cure in that tournament recently and beat Polt convincingly, so.... :D Go bunny!

No way Golden/Yoda will be able to go through MC, could be a three-peat finals though which would be awesome
YoDa is a beast and Golden has the power of the swarmhosts!
Swarmhosts don't do anything against MC, he is too good at buying time and out-maneuvering them until he has the army to crush the zerg or he just kills you before they come out.
As for Yoda, MC is just to strong with too many styles against terran, add to that MC probably knows Yoda better than anyone else which will make him more exploitable

I don't think there's that much Protoss whine. Ofcourse there is some whining (from players of all 3 races), but there will always be people who whine...
