Her progression has been just as impressive. i don't know about that, he's constantly showed us that he can get over the hurdles and new hurdles that present themselves. Whether it be the lessons learned from zvp to zvt or showing more patience and not throwing away all his shit. He's come along way and is one of the most improved players of the year. If I were to give him any award. It would be that and keep in mind, I'd still give him my most improved player of the year award regardless of winning this event. Hm, I suppose a win certainly did feel inevitable. I guess I was more pointing out how far he's come along. In any case, I agree with him being the most improved player.

Not even EG can buy JD's way out of service. In before EG conquers South Korea to get Jaedong out of his mandatory military service. General Geoff, Admiral Anna, and Smooth-talking Suppy DeMusliM IdrA got it covered: " Apologize for being that race." Just saying, he won't be around for much of LoTV, if at all.

How many times people said "lol Jaedong's time is already over, from now he will only fall"? I count IEM Shanghai, DH Bucharest, S3 finals, and recently DH Winter. But he always came back stronger and defeated top players. I am so glad he got a 1st place. JD ftw
oh i remember lol. the thing about jaedong is his perseverance and like I said, I'd give him that reward regardless of where he finished in this event because the way he comes back from his flaws is quite impressive from event to event.

Agreed, at the start of 2012 they weren't even potential threats, the second half of 2012 had Scarlett doing well in WCS and JD somehow becoming an ace match master in PL, but neither were in contention for top Zerg. When HotS came around they both improved even more, and now near the end of 2013 they're both great Zergs. Scarlett didn't win a premier tournament yet, but just the fact that she's now 43-38 since August against mostly decent Koreans (7-7 Bomber, 3-0 Life, 2-0 Maru) shows she has it in her to compete with the best of them (JD is 46-37 in the same period).

Given the number of times this tournament screwed up, they could have at least had some closure and closed professionally. Not only should the winner have his/ her moment in the spotlight, but there was also the hype around the fact that either "finally a foreigner" or "finally Jaedong" would win; either player winning should have called for huge recognition, arguably moreso than, say, Innovation or Life winning "yet again" (not to take anything away from them). But it was an ending suitable for Asus ROG, I suppose. Don't get me wrong! I'm not saying it was a good ending. It was one of the worst endings they could deliver! But I prefer to remember the better things and these "miss-steps" rather to forget Because I hope that they will learn their mistakes and get better prepared for the next one ^^
You kids and your silver linings Fair enough.

What about AIMAG? Doesn't winning that do something about military service or was that just an unsubstantiated rumor?

Just started to watch the JD vs Inno vods and I think Anoss should not be allowed to observe/cast a game again until he fixed his shit. He drops multiple times at every single tournament...

If he doesn't live in South Korea, how can they force him to do military service? I know Israel (as my step family are israeli) have a system where if you technically don't live in the country anymore you can't be forced to do the service. EG could just move him out of Korea if they wanted to avoid it
