Life went for 2 base muta because he's a super aggressive player. The build has been a staple of his since he showed up (my friends and I used to call him ST_2basemuta because it was all he did). I think he thought it was a nice counter to hellbat drops (which it was) but he was going to do that kind of shit anyway. Also its not like the early game lost him the game, he got behind later on when he couldn't break the base and wouldn't transition out of mutas.
No, you should watch more of life's games, he doesn't rush for mutas and completely sacs econ, he stays on ling/bling quite a while. Like I said he decided to not do roaches against hellbats and go quick lair, since going for roaches doesn't seem to work to well either for him on Dreamhack vs both uThermal&Sjow.

Did I say I'm for nerfing them or something like that. But putting it like "hellbats aren't worth it unless you kill 923783589287 workers" is simply bullshit. Of course they could do more. They could win the game straight up. But Fantasy was surely not in a bad spot after the drops.

The locust upgrade enforces a dynamic where the zerg can be miles away before you get hit while one acts like a deterrent.

I've seen people use them pretty well against marine/medivac. You just need static defense as well and you've still got the 12 mutas to kill drops.

I've been watching Life play since he was on Zenex. He used to be a cheesy piece of shit. Hes refined his aggro style a lot, but he has always preferred an aggressive style over econ. Come on man, hes famous for 10 pooling people.
