I feel very strongly that this is disadvantageous to players. It probably won't matter much to the players who are already at the top but I feel like the players who are at the bottom are at a disadvantage. This season's all about starting off by grabbing points so advantages and disadvantages alike are going to matter heavily. I'm sure that a lot of people will probably choose to play overseas but I think I'll probably just stick with what the eSF players are doing.
This leads me to believe a lot of Kespa players are going to play NA/EU The eSF players have no choice because they have GSTL on Fridays... and KeSPA has Proleague on Mondays/Tuesdays but the B-teamers don't care. They won't be sent out... but JangBi has no choice in the matter.

You would have to be pretty dumb to refuse that. Even if Naniwa tried to qualify for GSL instead he wouldn't have any chance of participating in season 1 regionals and finals. It's the same reason so many Code B/A Koreans are going to take seeds to WCS NA/EU because if they don't they're totally fucked. That's assuming there will be plenty of seeds for Koreans in other regions. The most deserving are staying in Code S and the rest rarely plays abroad. Look at the top 50 of NA GM. Now tell me if Revival, JYP, Oz etc won't be offered some of those 24 seeds if they declare that they choose NA as their region. Why should they? Seeds should be distributed according to accomplishments in the region or top 50 seeds would always go to Koreans. The way they made it, they better give seeds to players deserving. Koreans are superior and if you 'FORCE' them to switch region, because you screwed them to begin with, you better give out seeds to them. Ofcourse there is no measurement for 'skill' in giving out seeds, but seeds usually go along with common sense. Why would you invite a rather successful NA player when the Korean you could invite is easily superior and would be not just more successful but also more entertaining in terms of games? Because it invalidates any point of regional separation. Just put all that money in more Korean events if top level play is all you want. How does it invalidate any point of regional seperation? Your point would invalidate and nearly 'ban' based on origin (as mentioned in another thread). How can a player living and playing in Korea potentially be more accomplished in NA than a player from NA could be? Its flat out excusing and counting out the Koreans. And that's precisely what should happen. They have their own region and WCS aim was to help foreigner scenes. Despite what some people think Koreans swooping in every 2 months to carry away 80% of the prize pool won't accompish that. Blizzard is gambling that it won't happen due to sponsorship and logistics issues but if they are wrong (about NA in particular) the whole point of this system falls apart. Show nested quote +On April 10 2013 15:37 Type|NarutO wrote: Also, if certain Koreans come over, they are MORE accomplished in MLG, NASL. .. and what not. What do you want to count towards achievements? Playhem Daily? Last year WCS.
You could also argue that NA/EU players won't train harder and it won't help the scene, because now they know they can get some money without having the highest level. Koreans swooping everything does more good than harm I would say. Its not up to Blizzard to build the scene, its up to us. If no one wants to invest into the scene, no ones but our fault.
I already explained that its major events that gets Korean players attention, not smaller leagues with pricemoney. If you would run a GSL-style league with not more than 20000 no Korean player would come over to play it, because the time / money that they can get is not worth it.
Last years WCS as indicator lol, so you basically want a WCS global final with foreigners that get 0-3/0-3/0-3 first round and then watch Korea vs Korea? I'd rather watch Korean vs Korean all rounds OR Korean vs foreigners that actually qualified from a worthy field of players that can actually play the game and stand a chance against a Korean even in a bo5. Scarlett for example did very well in GSTL/acer teamleague, she's capable of winning and showing good games against good Koreans. If a foreigner would perform like that, thats a reason to cheer for, thats something that does grow the scene - 'banning' Koreans or not giving out seeds to them ignoring the fact that they are superior does hurt the scene.
If you like it or not - increasing the NA/EU players while Koreans travelled abroad and deny them their seeds, ignoring their superiority is hurting eSports because you cannot trait them differently. Media would shit all over the people who give out seeds aka MLG/ESL.

I think they can, but they'd miss this season. Also if they switch next season, they'd have to go through challenger league before they can play in premier the season after that, whereas if they choose EU/NA now and they're fairly well-known in the foreign scene, they have a good chance of getting seeded and starting in premier league.

NA GM would be a brutal bracket for cArn. I feel bad for the guy but you have to commend his dedication

So what happens if Bear loses his first match but it isn't casted by Wolfdor. Does it still count as a live tournament loss?
