If i recall Sc did that a lot.
I remember he simply kept swarming marines against Losira without an end and in the end Losira simply got overwhelmed.

If Terran doesn't all in or cheat opponent that he will all-in, I think Terran has no chance to win with the same level.

Is the "Stephano could win GSL" nonsense finally over now? Can we just call him the best foreigner and leave it at that?

Whats impressive? Rolling the dice on not getting scouted?

One fucking ling infront of that base...

Come on, I'm a stephano fan but Innovation deserves credit for that win. The build choice for the game was ballsy considering what was on the line. His micro (those splits and target firing!) was awesome.

Its just fucking sad to see a player of innovations caliber turn to these all ins when he has the potential as shown in game 1 to play a long macro game.

Do a allin every now and then, but cheesing 3 out of 5 games is sad to see.

If there is a major hole in someone's play, why not abuse the hell out of it?

Well Naniwa was way less predictable, as I would imagine Koreans to study Stephanos play while thinking Naniwa was some sort of walkover win.

The surprise factor and also Naniwas massive will to suceed at that time brought him that far, still I would imagine Naniwa to sit there at home right now with a big grin on his face.

Honestly qualifying for code S ro8 with kinda favorable groups, and proceeding to lose to an unknown zerg player in the TSL (JohnnyRecco) right after is almost worse than racking up like 200k$ off tourneys wins and losing to a ro4 last season code S kespa terran.

Terran hard race right?

lol... just admit Bogus is more skilled than Stephano.

They were a good match for each other. I dont want to jump to any conclusions about who's more skilled by just one series.

Innovation made the Semis last season and beat a lot of top Zergs to get there. he's definitely quality.

But Stephano stuck right there with him and in the same night also outclassed Hack. He's a top Zerg even if his haters don't want to admit it. He got put in a tough group and barely didnt make it out. No harm in that, better players than him have said the same thing. Code S is tough and Stephano just learned that firsthand.

Are you serious dude? Bogus is so much better than Stephano. He actually has a chance to win the GSL for starters.

Dead serious.

Stephano is a superior macro player in general IMO but Innovation beat him using superior decision making and early game tactics. A lot of that has to do with a probable lack of preparation on Stephano's part which is normal considering that GSL is much different than any of the marathon foreigner events he's used to playing.

I think given time to adjust more to the way GSL is played as well as some better scouting I think Stephano could take him in a long series. His game number 2 was about as one sided as a TvZ can possibly be which tells me that if Innovation doesn't manage to secure an early advantage somehow that Stephano will crush him with his superior late game.

It's a normal dynamic between players of similar skill level.

I think Stephano and Bogus' macro play are on a similar level. But the game gives the advantage to macro zergs over macro terrans right now. The terrans basically needs to stifle the zerg's eco before it gets out of hand.

Did you see Bomber's games by chance?

I mean in general there's definitely an advantage for Zergs in the later game if they aren't harassed or pressured that's obvious sure, but game 2 was more than just the Zerg late game advantage. Stephano beat Innovation in virtually every catergory. Superior macro, superior multitasking, superior army movement and scouting, superior compositions, unbelievable creep spread that was almost impossible to check.

I mean yea Zerg has a nice late game advantage but I'd love to see Stephano try and trounce Bomber or Gumiho the way he slaughtered Innovation in game 2. Their late game play is far superior IMO.

Stephano's stellar play in games he won proves that he is able to stand his ground with top Koreans, and that he is without shadow of a doubt a Code S player (Akilon Flats game was a thing to behold), but I really dislike when players that refuse to scout. It seems gimmicky, can backfire in very ugly way (experienced players like Bogus will always take advantage) and I know timings are crisp, but really, do these players feel they can't win without their builds lining up 15-20 seconds faster? And they are not even allin builds!

Hard for terran to do well with these many zergs. Just hope he doesn't get last place in next group.

Another player known for doing it for a time was Bomber during his initial "surge". Though this was basically also at the time sC was making semi finals.

Fuck I miss sC. Most potential I'd seen in a newcomer since Leenock at the time, and then he bam'd to poor TvT into lung collapses =(

it was always pretty unlikely in realistic terms, but potentially, if everything went right for him and he brought his absolute A game.. guess we'll never find out in WoL

Yes, they did use the entire 2011 points for S1 2012 group selections.

It is going to be DRG, Life, MC, Squirtle if they do it the same way.

Problem is that it is more of a surprise/gimmick build. All 3 races have ways to deal with it fairly easily if scouted. Terrans with bunkers into tanks. Protoss with sentries before getting colossi. Zerg with lots of lings and banes.

It takes 7 banelings to kill 1 marauder with equal upgrades... I don't think it's a gimmick, it's a control play. Bogus had the economy to take a third out of that attack. It was a high eco Polt style attack.
