because why, it hasn't 9000 games played on it? Like ohana does (~7000wonwon), like CK does (bl\infestor everytime)? Why so close-minded and kespa-hating lol Lol, Kespa hating? He said PL was the IDEAL place to test these maps... How is that Kespa hating??? Fanboy much? a good place to test shit maps is a shit league, should i explain further what did he mean? You've misinterpreted what he was saying, he's a "huge fan of the format and games it produces" Also the scene is in far better hands with the kespa professional mapmakers switching than the guys at blizz who are largely clueless and just put out boring, macro maps these days to keep the community happy. I agree with what you're saying, but I think Blizzard mapmakers just fill a different niche than Kespa mapmakers. Blizzard is trying to make maps that appeal to everyone, from ladder all the way up to pro play. Kespa is trying to make maps that shake up the metagame, and that can be played in very controlled circumstances by pros who practice for a week for a single game in a known matchup. I like how out there Arkanoid is and everything, but if I had to choose between laddering and even individual tournaments on a conventional map pool, or the Proleague map pool, I would take the safer, more generic maps in a heart beat. That's not to say that Kespa can't or won't make maps that could work in a conventional map pool, but as it is right now, they're probably more concerned with pushing boundaries than making maps that could work in any other tournament or ladder.
Plus, aren't the new maps based off BW maps? So that probably makes it harder to make it 'conventional'.

He said PL was the IDEAL place to test these maps... How is that Kespa hating??? Fanboy much? a good place to test shit maps is a shit league, should i explain further what did he mean? No because I agree with what he said about Proleague being perfect place to test maps and not for the reason you made up. Its perfect because if a map is imbalanced you just dont play that race on it. Thats why they could make a map that is only good for TvT in proleague and it would be fine because you can just send out terrans for it. dont forget KeSPA has their map strictly tested by proteams as well. And so far theres no map that frequently features only once race, albeit a few PvP on Caldeum. At the same time, just look at Kerrigan Altar LE or Wonwonwonhana. Just tell me which map needs to be phased out after Round 1 please, no bias please. People calling Proleague a map-testing league just because their maps are unique is pure shortsighted
Different races are coming out because nobody has any idea what they're doing. Metagame takes sooooo looooong to develop.
Here's my question, now that I've thought about it: How can "interesting" maps (like Arkanoid) make their way into non-proleage format tournaments (like GSL) in a way that is tolerable to the tournaments, players, and community? The idea that mapmakers throw so much random stuff at players that the metagame can't keep up seems like a poor way to develop real game balance. But too much stability feels "stale" for the community. What was the situation like in BW? Was balance achieved through a deluge of unique maps that kept the metagame from stabilizing, or was there a standard (stale?) maptype with only minor differences between maps?

GOM probably ditches those in favor of normal ramp, easy 3 bases map while KeSPA order mapmakers to revive Arkanoid, Bifrost, Python, Nostalgia (those two somehow didnt make it) and create some weird others (transistor etc) It's a matter of direction. New Initiation vs Global Standard. I personally would stick with the former.
