The quality of the games they showed and the amount of Korean players who came salvaged it . Overall, it felt like a downgrade from previous events. Less streams (no premium streams), even less content, big issues with streaming and HD passes, map pool still sucks, etc.
They should be glad the last day was as good as it was, otherwise it would have been remembered as a bit of a failure on MLG's part. Now, I doubt people will care, they'll only be looking at the finals, Flash getting 3rd and all that.
Yeah I guess some series and the LR carried it to some (or perhaps big) extent.

Leenock has been around for a while. He 6pooled NaDa in GSL Open Season 2.
i was just joking about terran doesn't seem to have next gen player who could achieve big thing.
Flashlings ragequitters would debate with you till the death. Good they left a few hours ago.
Yeah, everyone apologize for being a fan of Flash. Flash forbid -- I mean, god forbid -- well, you know.
That's not what i said
But that's essentially what happened, as Flash is a huge draw for fans. Many lose interest in MLG when hes out and you summarily generalize them along with anyone who would attempt to argue Flash becoming the next top Terran in sc2. What praise is any optimistic fan allowed to say? lol

Oh yeah, without the LR I wouldn't have watched any games yesterday after 9PM.
Sean Plott @day9tv Can't emphasize enough how much of a miracle #MLG Dallas was. Sandy trapped staff in NYC and @MLG still pulled the event off w little crew.

thats if the system carries them over into a new year

Taeja was sort of becoming that, but he's not doing so hot lately.
I am afraid that he will fall off the chart soon and becoming another "great terran" with the like of MKP,Jjakji.
I dont think Jjakji and MKP are that comparable. MKP never won a title, and has been a mainstay in Code S since the very beginnings of GSL.
mkp has been a top 3-5 terran since almost the beginning of starcraft, and was considered the best player in the world for the first few months of 2012, i think he's achieve far more than jjakji with all his 2nd place code s finals and his two mlg wins, plus a bunch more wins in smaller tournaments.
you never becomes legit until winning a GSL so jjakji > MKP/Taeja in my book regardless of how many MLG/DH they won
that's not really true at all :s, second place in gsl is still amazing, and so are mlg victories. MKP has been one of the best players on the planet for 2 years while jjakji was only a top player for one gsl really before falling off. There's a reason mkp is always always always one of the last people to be picked in gsl group selections, while jjakji is like code B. Mkp has also far outearned jjakji while only playing in really hard tournaments.

I really like seeing Heart and Hwangsin do so well. Many people give koreans who moved on to foreign teams flak for under-performing after their switch, but these guys work hard and consistently post good results.
More than the last two, but still worse than every prior MLG containing Koreans. If I wanted to seriously figure out this pattern, I'd have look at other day data though. Especially as I get the sense that foreigners have been having a decreasingly large impact on the final day compared to other days, and foreigners often drive post count.
Cool stats
Once again! Thanks MLG for another awesome tourney

There's no point on having loser's bracket if there is no incentive for winning everything other than survival.
I don't like extended series, but this looks like the other extreme.
It's a weird system, the championship bracket is actually two brackets with their own winner/loser bracket that meet up at the end for a finals without any extended series. The purpose is to guarantee the two players in the final have not played each other yet.
Can't say I like it too much, hope it gets changed for next year.
This was my first exposure to Flash, not having followed BW. Kinda underwhelming. For God, he made a lot of poor decision and seemed to have an incomplete understanding of the game.

I understand this, imagine Flash wins the extended series to Life. Then it's completely fair that both Leenock and Flash have no advantage. But Life did drop a series, so it just doesn't feel right.

Every system has its drawbacks. Single elim is the most 'fair' but you don't want players only having 1 chance and getting a bad draw. Double elim has 'extended series' issues.
As for Leenock not having an advantage despite not losing a series. Remember he also 'lost' against Oz in group play (but did avenge that lost). Plus even GSL has this issue, you can technical lose 2 series (one in Ro32, one in Ro16) and play someone going 4-0 in Ro8. And they won't have an advantage either.
