Well, here's to hoping Nani can fight through whatever his deal is so we can see better play in the later rounds.

And if he looses so be it, JRech is showing of a very strong style, even if he hasn't made the best battle decisions it's a style that should really catch on as an alternative to the early-third/mass roach style.

i've seen protosses play a defensive late game style where they aim for mothership/templar/archon/blink stalker/carrier etc composition, and just play insanely defensive forever trying to lose less money in units than the zerg and then eventually win a big fight with their 200/200 and kill the zerg. or starve the zerg.

it actually does bother me that nani snipes hatch, has perfect timing in his attack (just before corruptors), has incredible positioning, and still almost lost that game.

i cant remember how squirtle beat ret i feel like he macrod up a bigger army faster than naniwa does? and constantly had perfect control/positioning i guess

Naniwa takes forever to push across the map once he moves out, gives jonny like 3 minutes to mount a defense and morph broods, Squirtle moves out and just kills you before that. His timings are better.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

Yeah, they can just defend the whole game and then move out with an invincible army and very little micro required.

why didn't naniwa just kill a base? He could have easily killed the third or natural by forcefielding properly, but instead he failed to kill ANYTHING. I don't understand the decision making there.

Agree. Naniwa is playing poorly, even this last game. Recco played a safer than necessary, had a weak supply and Naniwa hit all the right timings. Everything went Naniwa's way but it was still close.

yeah it kinda looked like he forcefielded off stuff all over only to just trade armies. I think he expected to win just then and there.

Honestly I think it came down to the lack of upgrades for Naniwa. Losing the warp prism was also important for the sheer speed of being able to produce reinforcements.

what i remember from squirtle vs ret is squirtle lost the first game where his 16 carriers got killed by what looked like 19 corrupters and 6 infestors

then in the second game squirtle did 2base immortal allin and crushed ret dont remember games after that

Not saying it's imbalanced or whatever. Just that i don't like the matchup at all.

Either you hit before broodlord with a colossi gateway ( perhaps archons ) army with upgrades and blink.
Or you turtle hard and get an early mothership, harass a bitmore, then either try to win with a good vortex or the new trend of going carrier.

And or the other side there's the Immortal 2 base all in / +2 blink all in / mass gateway unupdraged all in.

Voilà, that's pretty much PvZ in a nuttshell.

I am not so sure. The matchup seems the same - hinder the zerg before he can do what he wants. Major's games yesterday are PERFECT example! Bad, bad... HELLIONS, ROASTED DRONES, YAAAAAAAAAAY!

One game with a 2 base all-in.
One game with a 3 base timing, where Ret suicided all of his Infestors.
One game with a 3 base timing, where Ret went 12 min Hive after opening Muta/ling, suicided all his mutas into cannons, and had no units at home to defend.

Basically, your choices are two-base timing, three base maxed attack before Broodlords, or tech to Mothership fast enough to have a Vortex ready when the Broodlords reach your base.
