And if I'm Taeja why would I use any real builds? I'll just proxy 2 rax every game so that IM can't see what I might actually have planned, as they would be able tell their players to adjust accordingly. The whole set up just encourages the teams to not take it seriously, as there's too much of a risk to have it negatively affect your performance in the actual match. IMO they should scrap it, or have it played afterwards.

Why would I want to send Taeja out and make him play seven games, potentially exhausting him and giving IM players the opportunity to practice against him? The pros of having the showmatch are obvious. It provides additional StarCraft 2 content for our live viewership as well as our online viewership. It works as a way to ramp up viewers online as more people become aware that the event is actually going on. Basically, we would benefit from it and viewers would benefit from it. However, the negatives are of course the performance of our grand finalist players. Obviously, as an example, using TaeJa and LosirA in this showmatch would be a detriment to each team's chance of winning the Grand Finals, the entire reason they are at the event in the first place. The players would be losing endurance by muscling through a potential 7 games of all-out SC2 for a smaller sum of money and perhaps a degree of pride or accomplishment. This would leave them potentially exhausted by the time their teams need them for the main event. Now, for example, if teams decided to use other players that maybe would not impact the Grand Finals quite as much, there's still a chance that they would need to be used in the main event and having any of your players not at 100% for this important match is a huge detriment to both sides. Basically to preserve the integrity of the games in the Grand Final, the big finale, the main event, the REAL reason why anyone would be watching Face Off in the first place, we have decided to scrap the showmatch and will instead be focusing on providing other exciting StarCraft 2 content in its place, as well as beginning the actual Grand Final match earlier. We understand that many of our fans and viewers may be upset, but please think about the value each player represents for their teams in this final match of Team Arena Challenge 3.

I wonder what the other SC2 content will be. Maybe a team monobattle, all random? ![]()

It was a cool idea but I think ultimately scrapping it is the best decision.

This also gives the players no excuses if they play bad. None of the "Oh he was mentally tired from this.. that.. etc" Love it, and thank you for explaining and justifying the reasons. Grand finals, we hope you're a good one! :D
