In the end, we finally discovered the malfunctioning component: a power strip on stage providing power for the casting computer and their headsets. The problem has been corrected and we thank you for your patience. We hope you will enjoy the rest of IPL Face Off and stick with us for the IPTL debut this week. Damn that sucks...Hate having to search for that one malfunctioning component. However, I would just like to say that the inconveniences revolving around the sound could have been avoided almost entirely had one of the audio guys simply applied a LPF to the main out channel (or whichever would have been the master output). I did that and killed that high pitched hum in seconds. Granted the sound lost a lot of the upper register from about the 8K range on (iirc, might be too high), but it took seconds for me to fix on my end.

Why was the final on 2 series? And why IM won overall?

Double elimination tournament rules. The Theory is that you must lose twice to be out of the tournament. Because IM came from the upper bracket, they had not yet lost a series. Therefore in the Finals they had 2 "lives" left, while liquid only had 1.

taeja was two games away from almost winning it all for liquid with zenio picking up the only other win. Incredible run by Taeja.
Also, Taeja won more games by himself on sunday (7) than the whole IM team (6) did to win the title.

It's cool, shit happens.
But please, SHOW US HOW TAEJA WON VERSUS SEED (set 1)! That was unbelievable...

Arg can't believe I missed this! Oh well, really cool results.

Wooooooo..... Taeja clears house in the first match, then Seed finishes things up in the extended series. Like where these two players are headed.

But seriously though, the quality of the matches overshadowed what went wrong in the production. For me that is. the taeja story line saved an otherwise terrible event that only avoided being forgettable because it was just so bad. they should pay taeja for saving their asses.
Agreed, terrible terrible production. I really don't know how it could've ran any worse. The breaks were way too long. No entertainment between matches, so many technical issues, little communication before the event. Of course the matches were great (especially the ones that Taeja didn't win!), but the utter failure of the production can't be overlooked. If IGN was a brand new company running their first tournament, this might have been excusable. I hope the next event in the bay area is ran better.

I know I'm way too late on the finals, but since I was busy earlier the week I just caught the results and some of the VODs now.
Am I surprised? No. I knew deep down that IM would win because overall they were the better team. That said, TaeJa performed amazing as-per-usual, but holy christ TL needs to really, really pick up the slack.
It'll be interesting to see if they recruit any new players in the months to come. TL has one terran and essentially one protoss, with 2/5 zergs providing consistent results. I love this team and players to bits, but change needs to come.
