So... is mech like not viable in PvT at all in SC2? Kind of how bio isn't viable in PvT in brood war (except for all-ins and the occasional nuke/lockdown)?

Pretty much... even Goody (historically known for going mech in every single matchup) gave up on mech TvP.

Just for allins really. SC2 toss was developed with SC1 PvT in mind, so they could counter mech. Blizzard just didn't fully realize that making all the units of toss counter mech would just make mech useless.

MC has won two "major" tournaments in 2012: IEM VI World Championship and HomeStory Cup 4. Bomber hasn't won anything significant since MLG Raleigh in 2011. From a spread the wealth perspective, I'm kind of hoping Bomber pulls this off.

No, sadly. The TSL4 qualifiers are the first tournament to have balanced spawns afaik.

If mech goes unscounted for a long time, it can be hard for the protoss to bring together the correct unit comp. However, since early robo is pretty standard in PvT, and a mech push only comes at the mid-late game, that's a pretty absurd scenario.

Once scouted, immortals+chargelots+HT (for feedback) destroys any mech army easily.
