Please have some respect for the players, teams, and tournament. Criticism is fine, criticism without anything to back it up isn't so cool. Thanks! |

He did win NASL 2, get 2nd at Dreamhack, and 3rd at Assembly and IEM World Championship.

HuK played well but he did have an easy group, even the people that came from open bracket were easier than most
It's not really hating, even EG players like IdrA and iNcontroL joke or make comments about HuK being lucky with his brackets/groups.

I never played WC3 and didnt follow it, but Grubby doesnt seem to have the overall mechanics and multitask to dominate a game such as SC2.
Specially when koreans are on field.

HuK always has the easiest path in any competition he enters. i dont know why, but its simply a fact in the last 6 months :D not saying hes not good or so, but his results are probably a bit higher than they should - he didnt impress me too much in the last gmaes tbh. too much 6-8 gate allins, too many dts, just nothing solid and spectecular. but he has those timings down to the second!
still one of the best foreigners obv.

again, I meant not disrespect to Grubby, I know that he makes his living through sponsors because he is such an articulate and likable individual. But his career as a player is not going anywhere if he is not willing to make the necessary sacrifices just like all the Korean players and top foreigners (Naniwa, Huk) and fans can only really watch their idols under-performing and fall so many times before they decided to stop caring about them, and then Grubby will (most likely) loses his sponsors. I think with his game knowledge he should transition into being a caster/commentator it really suits him better and it allows him to take care of his wife & family.

Is there any way for a peasant like me to watch the MKP v Thorzain games without a pass?

I am comparing him to Naniwa both of whom switched from WC3 and both play Protosses. Naniwa have done impossible upsets and came close to taking out the most fearsome Koreans. Grubby just.....iono although he did take out Violet so that was good for him! Different games, different metas, different times. Grubbys still learning. Give him time. You'll see the same seemingly odd variance results when brood war pros switch over. Some of them will take to it like a fish out of water and perform amazingly and some of them will be a shadow of there former selves. He's had MORE than enough time, that's not a valid excuse at all. Also, "different metas"... ?? What exactly are you expecting from him. He was competing against several top tier Koreans who've all been playing the game longer than he has. Different players can skill take different periods of time to peak than others. "different metas" simply refers to that present state of Sc2 requiring different skill sets than WC3. It's entirely possible that if the meta shifted sufficently so that the average game length/micro became more like warcraft 3's, presumably from an expansion, then it may improve grubbys chances. Not that im saying that is likely to happen. I think people just think his play is sub par. No one is saying he has to be the best in the world but his Play against select was pretty sloppy. Storms that required a relatively low level of skill (compared to the skill required to counter) were the only thing that kept him in it.
No arguement there.

Really, since when does pointing out that he gets incredibly lucky with brackets (Which he does!) equal hate? I haven't been the biggest HuK fan lately, but I certainly don't hate him either. You can't really deny he has earned the nickname LuK the last 2-3 foreign tournaments I've seen him at he has had by far the easiest group/bracket.

I have never watched Grubby stream but what he said may be true. I had followed WC3 scene for quite long time and I know how good Grubby micro is but SC2 requires much more mechanic skill than WC3 because it has macro and much faster.

I may have no idea, but have seen Grubby play many times already and he always lose units for not looking, react on time. Falls behind on macro and so on.
Offcourse he is improving a bit from month to month. But reaction time is a skill that transition from any game, and he lacks it.

For some reason I think Oz is going to take this tournament, he's going to take one eventually and from the games I've seen he is playing very strong this weekend.
I was hoping for IdrA and NonY to go farther in this tournament as well. That second game against Polt was just terrible luck for IdrA. That was probably the worst time for Polt to pause for him. If Polt's lag was that terrible I can see why he would pause, just that was an awkward place for both players in terms of when to pause.

Over until tomorrow, spl Khan vs KT starts in 13 minutes though. Its BW but Im sure you will like/ enjoy it give it a try

I think HuK's luck in getting easy groups in foreign tournaments is balanced by his bad luck in code S and up/down matches. Last year in the GSL he always seemed to hit the eventual code S winner or runner-up in early rounds and was out earlier than he probably deserved.
Karmic balance.

You are so wrong, he has a fan base and fans don't simply stop caring for him or follow him if he does bad. Great example of that is Boxer.
Grubby is still one of the best protoss foreigner, if you think he should stop because he had one bad tournament then you should really think about what you are saying. If the cut off line in skill is Grubby for people to quit playing then you just cut off 90% of foreigners. Let's have Naniwa, Stephano, and HuK be the only foreigners playing this game (sarcasm).
