Kiwikaki is what nationality now?
i see FXO taking this 3-0 or 3-1 tbh.
This is not even fair. FXO is vastly favored. Maybe if Inori was matched up against Oz, he might be able to snipe him.
Those Koreans are way too good. 3-0 FXO.

FXO really taking this league seriously, sending their 4 best players.

Copy-paste fail. Should be fixed now (Also, fixed Kiwi being swedish xD)
Huh... Kiwikaki isn't Sweden, he's canadian
reign just outmatched... suprised if they can take this to ace.
slush has a good chance against oz. it's been too long since I have seen kiwikaki play but i think he can beat just about any one when he's playing his best. artist should be able to beat lucky. inori vs leenock is the only one i'd be absolutely shocked if reign won all the others i believe reign atleast has a chance.
The FXO Four? Jesus, this sounds like a slaughter. @.@
I think Artist can take Lucky and Kiwikaki maybe Gumiho, but we will have to see. I just hope it isn't a 4-0 for FXO.
Doesn't look good for Reign. They should be happy if they can take a match down. But cheese might happen and stuff so never count them out completely.
Eh Reign could win this but it would very much be an upset in each match.......

damn, would've liked to see choya or some other less-well known FXO players to pay. they should steamroll this no problem, unless sleepiness/lag is a problem ahah
Inori vs his former team, cool :D
I think Artist beats Lucky but that's it for Reign I'm afraid.
I don't think i like seeing their whole lineups right away :[
Artist and Inori are going to really have to carry this team against FXO, as I think they're the only players who might even stand a chance. If they could have gotten Artist against GuMiho and Inori against a non-Leenock player they would have been a lot better off, but as it stands I think they wound up with possibly the worst drawing possible. Lucky's ZvT against Mvp in the recent GSL has made me a firm believer in his talents, and Leenock is Leenock.
I don't know that anybody in the NASTL has a solid chance at beating Leenock because he's that good and there aren't a whole lot of players in the world who I would honestly say are favored at beating him; but that being said, his stats in Korea would make me think that ZvP is his worst match-up. But at MLG his play against NaNiwa, HuK, and Oz all was really amazing (I'm not sure who else he played) and I don't think that Inori is as good as those three. Then again Inori (to the best of my knowledge and from what I've seen of him) has a very macro-oriented style, which most Protosses--especially Koreans--don't have). He may just be able to beat Leenock, but that's only if ReIGN can survive the first three matches.
FXOz is good at everything he does, and SLush is French Canadian. The only real shot that SLush has is pulling out one of his wacky-strats that Oz has probably never seen before because it's that wacky that it will probably never get played on the Korean server. SLush is good, but he's not FXOz good.
GuMiho has some of the sickest TvP's in the world, and while there is no chance of him losing a Bo3 or more against KiWi, KiWi (and SLush as well, I suppose) have the advantage that it's a Bo1. Once again KiWi might have some ridiculous timing up his sleeve that GuMiho has never seen before; that being said, I really doubt that KiWi will be able to take down a vP powerhouse like GuMiho.
Lucky's ZvT is ridiculously good, and while Artist is good, he's not as good as Lucky. I know that I personally was one of the people who bashed Lucky for a while (it probably has to do with the fact that he kept knocking out foreigners from Code A ^^; ), but after his matches against Mvp I'm convinced that he is not only a good player, but he's a Code S caliber player. Artist on the other hand is still a good player, but he's not at the level that Lucky is at. That being said, anybody who take a gander at his recent TvZ (or his TvZ in general) would see that he's a monster at that match-up. He's won his last 10 games against a pretty solid line-up (including DIMAGA and sLivko), but I actually think that I'm more impressed by the way Lucky played against Mvp in his recent Code S games. Yes, he lost, but that second Bo3 he played against Mvp (not the first one, that was actually brutal how badly he got thrashed) was absolutely amazing. This is ReIGN's best shot at winning a match, but it would have been better if they could have gotten Artist matched up against GuMiho or even FXOz.
Or, if Artist manages to beat Lucky/a French Canadian catches their opponent by surprise:
EDIT: Also, why on earth would ReIGN send out SLush on Tal'Darim Altar? It can probably be suspected that a Protoss is going to be going out there on that map, and ZvP on Tal'Darim Altar is a nightmare. No good third (depending on the spawn, if the Zerg spawns clockwise to the Protoss they'll have a decent third, but it still isn't favorable). I feel like sending out a Protoss on Tal'Darim Altar is just the best choice, and it would have been especially nice to see Inori go out there. His PvP is absolutely amazing, and if you're going to try to get him matched against a Protoss that's the best shot.
Holy shit The Final Boss , that's freaking impressive.
it's rather surprising that they didn't send inori out on altar. but i suppose they just have that much faith in inori (and slush for that matter) wining in any matchup on any map.
Great write up The Final Boss. I agree with your predictions, FXO is sending out a fantastic lineup, Reign is sending out their best as well but it's going to be rough for them to pull through (but Bo1's, anything can happen!)
Well, speaking of Bo1's and something crazy happening. Haha.
Oz hwaiting!

how the heck did slush mess up that terribly i mean that cannon rush really wasn't all that great and he handled it the worst he could possably handle it after scouting it immediately.

Who is the other caster?
Also, go Kiwikaki!

nice play kiwikaki wash that bad taste right out
edit though i can't help but think if slush had handled that cannon rush competently reign would be up 2-0 right now

Still seems abit weird though, surely NASL could've slapped up their own overlay over the blizzard ones to solve this little problem
Kiwikaki showing how to own face.

Awesome games tonight....cannon rush followed by a 7 gate wooo. Hope for better games, Artist vs Lucky should be good.
Very interesting all-in. Gotta steal that
wow...way to not mention all of stephano's losses and only his wins
I would love to see a Reign upset.
go go go LUCKY!!!!!
Show us your awesomeness!

who thinks the name of the league should be North American Team Star League not North American Star Team League

And Lucky still struggles to have a consistent ZvT.
lagged abit so artist won?
Go Reign! Take the win!
+ Show Spoiler +If Slush had won against the cannon rush, Reign would have swept 3-0

inori vs leenock is going to be sick. inori is just so good. but vs zerg well i thought it was his worset match up but it actually might not be as i know he's beaten check and other great zergs crazymoving, bbong and others.
really don;t know what is going to happen.

True, few would have expected the current score. However, keep in mind that Inori and Leenock are former teammates. Weird stuff might ensue.
holy shit, just turned this on and see KiWi take out GuMi...shit man nice one how close were the games?

edit for badfat
slush fell apart to a cannon rush and then got his far expansions destroyed easily with no resistance
kiwi was awesome
artists game was pretty close but at the same time artist was winning most of the time.

Thanks man, good stuff, tbh I'm pretty surprised inori is holding his own against Leenock on bel shir at that, wow
He's letting LEenock Macro...might be a bad idea
Has Inori forgotten what micro is?
might be an off night. seemed like slush had one too.
also kind of interesting but most of reign actually didn't play for most of december/january
thinking reign has to pick artist.

TheBest is coming out to play. ^^
EDIT: It's just Lucky.
Hmm, FXO looks favored here. Lucky has good ZvP.
if anyone wants to watch a zerg throw a won game...watch Game 1!!!!!!
unexpected result in game 1 :O
Why the hell would they send out Lucky T_T
That was just a terrible game from both players
HOW did he lose that. 1 giant fail engagement
United States15275 Posts
Lucky has good ZvP but bad base management. I don't think he ever saturated that fourth.
yeah ace is best of three right? so reign one game from win !!!!!!
What a terrible game. Lucky totally threw that away.
Lucky......how did you lose?
Heh. Suckered him into maxing on roach. That's why he never attacked. Zerg maxxed on roach vs P maxxed on... not roach.
What a terrible angle to engage at by lucky, he had that game.
Gogo, Inori fighting! -cheer cheer-
On January 22 2012 12:25 Ruscour wrote: Why the hell would they send out Lucky T_T
Lucky has a 80% winrate ZvP in Korea and 100% winrate ZvP international. He had a terrible engagement though, allowing Inori to take the central position and prevent Lucky's forces from grouping together.
This is a bit irrelevant, but Xeris' resemblance to Spanishiwa is uncanny.
Inori no! Your economy can't sustain that kind of stress! 10 gates!?
Making probes, 2 gas and....
10 gateways O_O

Yeah but that win-rate is pretty inflated by his games vs Naniwa :p
And I personally think Leenock is a better player in all 3 match ups so it was still kind of a weird decision
tied up lucky is good
whatever happens no one can say either team had it easy.
well it was nice anyway, I hope lucky would see the twilight council

Yeah, Leenock is an all-around better player than Lucky. I guess there could be a multitude of reasons why Lucky was chosen.
gretorp seems angry today?
darn why didn;t they go with artist?
no offense to inori i love your play but artist is the zerg sniper not inori and reign had too know the ace would be a zerg weither lucky or leenock.
Well reign gave it a good run, lucky played well in those last two games.
I'm an Lucky fan.... but those games were... weird. Not great or really bad, but just really weird. Then again, I remember they're former teammates so I guess I should've known...
On January 22 2012 12:50 durza wrote: Well reign gave it a good run, lucky played well in those last two games.
I don't think it was so much Lucky playing well as Inori playing...strangely. 10 gate?
Is it just me or does Inori seem to have a penchant for throwing his own units into artificially created choke points? It really seems to hold him back. Having seen his epic PvP performance, this very much disappointed me. I suppose ZvP just isn't his strong point.
i guess i am being really unappreciative of the great series reign made of it great job reign if nothing else you have continued to prove to those neysayers that you aren't going to be swept. I am just frustrated because i know reign could of won that series at several points with different reactions/different player choices.
kind of like finalboss said you went up against what paper would of said was bad matchups or atleast not ideal and still came with in a hair of wining it all really great job every one.
also please please give your thoughts on the series i'd absolutely love to see them.
Fu, I didn't watched cause I tought it would be a roflstomp, and now I see the results and I regret greatly not having tuned in TT The stress I had when I opened the ace match spoiled and saw Reign one game away for the win would have been *10000 if I saw that live Not that I don't like Reign, but top3 control FXO fan.
well that is what happens when you let fanboyism turn into blind fanboyism. even when i don't know how good reign's opponents are i make it a point to find out before i predict a cake walk.
Kiwi took out gumio. Gj man. I had you written off as a loss. Proved me wrong lolk
Man i miss these team leagues - they're so exciting to watch. Thank you NASL for bringing us this team league!
they should have sent kiwi out as ace
never send a player who lost his game.. why would you ?
