Silly. still I think and I gues you wouldn't argue, that it is damn impressive to have a 16y old getting such results. How can you be consistent if you're still that young. I wouldn't call him best at the moment but he is THE Player to look for in the future for sure. So, not the best but the one of the most noteworthy.
Definitely noteworthy. And a huge future prospect. So yea I guess I agree haha

It's really silly. There's no denying all those players are really good, but just because someone does really well at something recently certainly does not make them the best.
Yup, the underlying points being: a) Luck plays a huge role in SC2, much more so than BW. b) Compared to BW pros, pretty much every SC2 player -- except maybe for MVP -- sucks big time as it only takes a few weeks for his style to be 'found out'. c) There is no best in the world in SC2 ala Flash, Jaedong or Bisu -- maybe except for MVP -- there are several players at the top, who can take off games of each other at any point, tournaments and stakes level.

leenock on such a tear right now, ya sure he might not be the best, but i'd say CURRENTLY ( this season) hes looking unbeatable. You just take one look at his mlg run and the people he had to beat even with unfavorable odds ( extended series) and he still won. Now hes demonstrated beating mvp was no fluke and has done it again . Im very happy for him, something just seems to have clicked recently for him.
We always new he was a great player, just had bad luck(marineking prime) always has his number.. I believe he was code S before, then got knocked to Code A, and finally back to code S .

Oh wow just got back from university and watching the vods, and I totally didnt expect Tastosis to be there because I'm still in this major tournaments end on sunday circle and thought they wont make it. These guys have a crazier schedule than most players :D

lol I'm waitching the VODS, but now have to pause it, and google SPORK. What the hell is a SPORK?

While that is true this is quite different tough. We are not talking about silly ladder rankings or a winning streak. Leenock always looked great ever since GSL open season 2,remember him and clide on skakuras back then? It was awesome. For some reason he had terrible luck with the players he went up against. Now we seen him doing 34 - 5 sets at the most stacked MLG there is and taking down MVP, the claimed best player in the world. While saying he is the best is still early its not the same in competition/consistency in examples. This is exactly why people can't claim leenock is the best. He's had 2 good showings. The consistency isn't there. You can call it bad luck, I call it not being able to handle the top players (until recently). Considering the fanboys reaction after Stephano's IPL 3 run the Leenock hype is really not that bad.

Leenock went from rags to riches in a couple of weeks. He deserves it too , he was always one of those strangely unsuccessful really good players.

Am I witnessing a Cinderella story for Leenock ? :D

Epic stuff from Leenock!! Very happy about it and looking forward to seeing the matches! I just really hope jjakji and Leenock can offer a good finals. I'm a bit scared but I hope for the best finals ever! Go Leenock!!

Spork is a utensil with one end fork and another a spoon, thus spork. Quite useful to have when camping or so.

Holy Guacamola, this kid is a freaking inspiration, that all i can say after seeing third game.
Just finished watching all games, so happy for Leenock, i guess in last game he get some kind of extra luck sniping 4 drops i think that was that didn't do any damage at all. PvZ final , exitement!

whew, normally i watch vods before looking at the results, but this time I was just too excited i couldn't help myself. omg congratz Leenock, and the games look to be AMAZING too. time to watch VODS now ^^

Leenock rising? That kid competes with a level of composure that is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond any 16 yo I know.

I'm pretty sure Nestea and MVP have been considered the best in the world in SC2 for more than "a few weeks". You act like Flash, Jaedong and Bisu never lose games and win every title. There are plenty of top players in BW that can take games off of each other at any point in any tournament.

=O
Amazing leenock. Go for it kid!

Wish people would stop with the "kid" and "so young" comments.
He has played SC2 for 1.5 years, same as MVP, same as NesTea, same as random platinum players.
He wins because he has a good team practice environment, work ethic, and talent, none of which are related to age. In Brood War, you could argue that some players had been playing many years, and Flash coming and owning up so fast was special, but this is not relevant to SC2.
A 14 year old could win a GSL with enough talent and drive. He is 16, mature enough to control his own life, emotions, drive, work ethic, and future.
Him winning at so young is abnormal, but not really "amazing" and shouldn't be brought up so often in articles and stuff =/

Yeah but SC2, as well as every other sport, needs story lines to make it more entertaining for fans to follow. He just won MLG Providence so you can't even consider him much of an underdog anymore. Other than his age, what else differentiates him from every other pro? Personally, I think his age makes for an awesome story line.

The flaw in that thinking is you're making the assumption that when people switched to SC2 their BW experience wouldn't help them. There's no absolutely objective way to judge whether it has, but I think it's safe to say that playing BW for a few years probably helped MVP become as good as he is. If MVP had just picked up SC2 without having any prior BW pro experience, it would be a lot harder for him to be the best.
This is why it is shocking that Leenock is doing so well: he is so young that he cannot have had any prior BW pro experience, so he is what SC2 fans have been waiting for so long: a star that grew from SC2, rather than being a star who already played BW. To be truly successful, a few posts have argued that SC2 needs to have its own stars, rather than washed up switch-overs from BW. Whether or not I agree with that is irrelevant - the fact that he is so young IS relevant, so don't dismiss it so easily.

Wrong, a Spork actually has the fork and spoon on the same end, it is a spoon with teeth on the end
