SOOP (AfreecaTV) has announced the details for the 2025 season of the Global StarCraft II League. Two seasons of GSL Code S will be held, with Season 1 taking place during May 7-16 and Season 2 proceeding during May 28 - June 23. Each season will have 12 participants and feature a 40,000,000 KRW prize pool (~$27,800 USD). All games will be played from the FreecUP studio.

SOOP also announced that a portion of their Patreon crowdfunding will now be used to cover production costs, citing it as "a realistic decision for a sustainable GSL."

Delighted to hear it's all in person, and two seasons is great. Shame it's only over 6 weeks. I hope something can continue next year and be spaced out more. Assume there will be English commentary? (tasteless and state)

Only 12 slots is very sad, I hope next year is more drawn out. Also I do wonder if for SOOP whether it's worth it because Patreon contributions will drop with it only being on SOOP not Youtube.

We all know the only reason they have this GSL was because of EWC, dont expect GSL coming back next year or at least until they (unlikely) announce SC2 for EWC again.
