Extended series allows for double elimination to make sense in the way that MLG utilizes it. This way no player can get an advantage by losing early to seed themselves differently, and players are allowed to stay in the tournament after losing.
Also the required amount of wins to win 2 Bo3's and 1 Bo7 are the same, 4. Certain combinations are obviously disallowed but it is balanced nonetheless.

The fact is in MLG if you lose you've just made yourself play at least one more game and if you aren't in the winners bracket finals it's often way, way, way more than one game. That in itself is a disadvantage enough and doesn't mean the finals or other late stage games should be ruined by ending in a player who easily beat this guy 2-0 before hand then starting 2-0 up on him the next time!
Extended Series gave us the crazy 4-3 IdrA over BoXeR game but took away a good HuK vs MC final.
Another thing MLG really need to sort out is bo3 semifinals and finals...

Props to EEhantiming too guys <3 Your work is awesome and appreciated.

The age of Liquid has dawned?
Can't wait for Zenio to enter the foreign stage alongside HerO who's paved the way.

Congratulations HerO! He looked so overwhelmed by all the cheering it was pretty cute.
Next stop NASL Grand Finals.

Oh, yeah thats one way of looking at it I guess.
People generally just see there favorite player start playing someone else. Then notice the score and go "OMG Y HE DWN PTZZZ"

I'm going to start of saying I'm a member of this lovely Starcraft 2 community since about 1 year ago. During that time I've been working on my own game. Trying to improve and reach the higher levels of the game. Easier said than done indeed, I quickly learned.
To be able to perform on the highest level possible requires extreme focus and utter dedication toward the game and I can't put into words how how much I adore these top players who manage to perform at the highest possible level.
This evening I've witnessed one of the most entertaining online events of my lifetime, and who should I thank?
Dreamhack, obviously. They got the right mindset towards gaming and delivered an incredible live experience I will not soon forget.
The players delivered an unforgettable finals and I can't recall a final game with so much on the line. About six or seven months ago I was watching the Stanley Cup finals of the NHL and being a huge hockey fan like myself, that is pretty much as good as it gets. It went to game six and the exitement was incredible.
This e-sports event went to game 7 and it gave me the same chills I got watching the Stanley Cup finals. To me it's amazing and I love how e-sports is growing larger and larger every occasion.
Thank you Dreamhack and thank you Starcraft 2-community!

DH system is good for the latest stage (bo5 semies, bo7 finals, how it should be everywhere) DH system sucks for group stages, they should use the GSL system but with bo3s. With the current DH system, the 3rd game of a player can mean nothing, so a player can "throw games" (not in a match fixing way, but in a zero incentive to win so I'll 6 pool so I can go home fast way) which makes the order in which the games are played have an influence on the outcome of the group. A system which gives players an incentive to lose can't be a good system.

Wish there was a loser bracket gg great tourney

yeah i dont like that groups stage where someone who already advanced has to play to determine seeding or someone else's advancement.

I echo your sentiments, Killedbydeath, right down to the part about the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs (except it went to Game 7, not 6 ^^).
I'm a Canadian currently living in Sweden, and had the opportunity to attend the event live. I wasn't able to bring a computer with me, and spent the entirety of the weekend watching StarCraft. Having it all culminate with the last 3 series we witnessed was something I will never forget.
The atmosphere in that arena was absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if it was captured on stream or not, but when Hero won that 7th game, the place went absolutely bananas. Seeing Hero on stage, receiving that standing ovation with the crowd chanting his name was an emotional experience equivilent to seeing your favorite sports team win a championship.
Thank you DreamHack for an amazing event, and thank you to AMD & Sapphire for being such huge sponsors helping to make this happen. I'm a happy man right now!

Think its also the match up... between 111 and predictable bio ball for tvp, terran really doesn't got that many interesting option... one makes you a villain and the other is a bit dull and uninteresting unit composition imo, and I like terran generally but just not in that match up, of course not puma fault but I think its one of the factors : / Thats why I find it interesting when mvp goes for the heavy marine/tank pushes/contains which "feels more terran" to me but people seem to hate that too *shrug*

Was epic to be a witness of this tournament live. The atmosphere was so good and the casters, well they were the best! <3 The only bad thing was that stupid host, wish James Harding had been the host as he was at the DH invitational.

EG won't lay one hand on HerO. how did huk "betray" teamliquid cant believe people are still crying over that, if you got a higher paying job at a different location and it will be better for you would you not take it? or do you think loyalty revolves around the whole world these days, huk gets paid top 3 in the world and enjoys being on EG even players on teamliquid supported him and there his teammates your just a fan simple as that do you see me crying? f no you want to leave that's fine by me I'm just telling it the way it is man. I think the problem could be fixed if they didn't use map score as a tiebreaker. That way even a player who starts 0-2 can still get into a 3 way tiebreaker under the right circumstances (see: Jangbi in the last OSL). Of course this would necessitate the use of tiebreakers which may not be feasible schedule wise. Then there are of course people who don't like tiebreakers but personally I love them.
