That's sad it's too late for europeans. GO GO Stephano !
|
Aww, right in the middle of my exam today T_T guess I'll just have to skip Day 1.
TargA and Shuffle fighting! Gogo SEA ownage
|
Are this the only games that'll be casted from the RO32?
A bit disappointing, would've liked to see Grubby vs August, Pokebunny vs Major, Crazymovin vs Loner and Stephano vs LiveZerg.
|
gatored is going to take it
|
|
Interesting choice of games. I assume they've seen them all and picked the most exciting ones from the first round.
That said, I'm mostly interested in game 1.
|
We will release all the reps after the tournamet so people can see all the games. Due to time constraints ... We cant cast all the first few rounds.
|
That's completely understandable, I'd rather focus on the main tournament and just watch a few of the qualifier games, plus, the later rounds are more interesting anyway and I trust you that you casted the best games available from this round. That said, I don't really care about most of the games, because from my expectations I won't see most of these players in the final four anyway, so I wouldn't bother to follow their way through the tournament.
I'm always open for surprises, though.
|
:D. Can't wait to watch these games. Seems like some of them were played up to five weeks ago, but from what i've accidentally spoiled myself with, I won't wanna miss them!
|
livezerg was talking about being in top16 or 8 of some NASl qualifier, which qualifier was that

Probably the Open Tournament, that qualified him for this Semi Open.
Look at Bracket 2.

Not too bad of a line up. A couple of up and coming players like Mentalist and Gatored
|
What are these lovely maps?!
|
I'm sorry but Zelniq really needs to up his game.

This game just started, KR spent like 2 minutes hating on the map.

Zelniq...was horrible. Does he know about the fungal growth ability? So many times he had infestors with large amounts of energy just waddling away from large groups of marines. I can't understand why he didn't use fungal growth, surely he knows that marines are faster than infestors...

so not only was the casting extremely unfair, probably one of the most unfairly harsh casts I've ever heard.. now I've random hate that's just flat out not true. I just went over the replay, not a single time did that happen. In fact the only infestor that ever got killed with fungal energy was right before the end, when i was reacting to a drop and he sniped one infestor at that time.
I'll admit I made some bad decisions that game.. but the major ones weren't even mentioned by either of the casters because they were too busy criticizing me for things that didn't even make sense, overly berating me for things that were relatively insignificant, because their knowledge/understanding is lacking. Like for example they went on a huge tirade about how stupid and terrible I am for getting +2 air attack, when I had suddenly stopped muta production and switched to infestors. Is it really so hard to understand that I started that +2 attack before I noticed he was only going marine? My mutas saw a forward factory w/ tech lab, and most every terran gets tanks. But once I noticed that he wasnt getting tanks, that's when I started going pure ling/bane/infestor. They've no excuses, they both piled on me yet could clearly see how far along the upgrade was. Another example was shortly before the end, after a battle went in my opponent's favor, and all I had left over were a few infestors all with < 75 energy off creep, there were stimmed marines were chasing them down and there was no way for them to escape. So when the infestors spammed their remaining energy on infested terrans before dying, gretorp points out how dumb I am for casting the infested terrans in a spot that blocked the infestors from retreating.............except stimmed marines chasing them/even being microed to move and attack were going to kill the infestors no matter what anyways, regardless of where I casted the terrans? It's like you said.. does gretorp not know that stimmed marines outrun infestors?
Yet another example would be when my 3rd had just finished, and the larvae had just built up to 3, gretorp points out that mistake in some annoying fashion whose wording I don't remember. But he doesn't just stop there, no that's not enough. He has to use that instance of not-spending 2 larva before it goes up to 3, (which really was a fairly major factor in BW at all points in the game for zerg to try to avoid, but in SC2 after a certain point, keeping a hatchery's larva below 3 becomes fairly insignificant compared to larva injects/how well you're doing them. which btw up to 9 minutes it was perfect, each queen's energy was below 25 when the spawn larva popped off the hatch. at 12 min my queens have a whopping 30 energy and 34 energy as the spawns pop, OMG TERRIBLE MACRO), as his gateway to go into a relatively long rant about how terrible I am and how my macro's falling apart.
That was just the tip of the iceberg though. They berated me almost nonstop.. if I had the vod I could give more examples. I always hate it when casters bash players for nonsensical reasons or blowing relatively insignificant mistakes/imperfections way out of proportion.. but this was too much. And I only tuned in for the last 80% of the final game, I don't even know what they said about me before then. I don't know who that other caster was, but gretorp man I am disappointed.

We're not broadcasting every match. Certain matches were picked to be cast within each round.

We only cast a few games from the ro32 + ro16 . We're going to release all the replays after the tournament so everyone can see all the games that were played.
Stephano vs LiveZerg and KiLLeR vs Drewbie were W.O's

What was the reason for Stephano not showing up? unless ofcourse those matches was played last weekend where Stephano was in battle of berlin?

He was at a LAN event I think and couldn't come, although we weren't informed until afterwards. Generally we were relatively accommodating to LAN's and other stuff and always gave people 1 chance to postpone... but when we don't hear anything from the player, we can't do it.
Just a communication issue~

I think the benefit of a month or so in Korea is marginal. You'd need a long term compitement for it to really start showing, it's not magic.

ThorZaiN just far too good for MajOr, well played.

To be fair, Thorzain has spent time in Korea too, and he was probably a better player to start with. At Blizzcon Major lost to Naniwa originally, and the same applies there really. He's a really good player, with great potential. I'm pleased for Thorzain though, nice to see him demonstrate his skills.

It's funny, because I seem to recall Gretorp used to talk about how hugely amazingly good every move was ("he's making a supply depot to make a walloff at his ramp, and that's HUGE" sort of thing). Now it seems to be the opposite, and everything is bad.

Id say his tvp and tvt is probably the strongest of any foreigner atm, his pvz is lacking alot tho which is why he never gets real far in most tournaments.

I clicked this thread by accident and decided to read through it after I saw some post on the bottom of Page 1 about KR bashing a map (which I thought meant Korea). Come to find out it was only KawaiiRice, but then I got to see some Zelniq drama! And some games were played too? Oh... Honestly, couldn't have told you if NASL Season 2 was even still running.

There's just no hype for tuning in to watch VoDs. Season 3 they need to hire a new main caster, and keep Gretorp around for what they have Wombat(Who I personally don't enjoy his casting)/Orb (Who's casting I love)/etc. doing. Then they need to play some live matches.
NASL Season 2 is basically live-watching VoDs....it's literally anti-hype

I've updated the bracket to reflect the games played If we didn't broadcast a game you wanted to see-- we'll release all the replays after the tournament is over

That's pretty much what every caster does and it's the most annoying thing about watching SC2 pro games. The guy on the Korean Weekly tourney does the same thing, always saying what these Korean pros should have done. The worst part is that the way he talks, it seems like he honestly thinks that he knows better than all of these high level Korean pros when they would destroy him in under 5 minutes. You don't see Dick Vitale (or any sportscaster) harping on every turnover or minor mistake that a team makes just so he can build up his own ego. Seriously, gretorp... not a good caster. "and that's a HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake." all he does is talk about what they did wrong, blowing it way out of proportion every time. This is something SC2 casters really need to be aware of and to just stop it. Orb says what he says because he actually does know an insane amount about the game, and he's actually pretty good at the game. On top of that, I see it all the time in sportscasters, that's why we see replays of turnovers and fumbles like 4 times in a row, and then more later on. The fact of the matter is casters are allowed to point out mistakes because ITS THEIR JOB. I'd rather watch Orb describe what the IDEAL response in that scenario would have been, instead of hearing "OMG FANTASTIC EMPS!" or "GREAT FORCEFIELDS" every time someone uses said spell. You don't have to be able to play at top tier professional levels to KNOW the game at a top tier professional level. Casters are able to make statements like that because they can see what the players cant, namely both players supply counts, production tabs, etc.
I prefer the analytic casts to listening to Tasteless talk about pirate birds while a player is losing an expansion.

The map is called "TPW Damage Inc" by Mereel (from The Planetary Workshop).

Does the "W" by livezerg over Stephano mean walkover or win? Just curious if he beat him or Stephano didn't show

We weren't informed until the LiveZerg/dKilleR matches were being played, but it was a walkover. Stephano/Drewbie are squaring off in the Losers Bracket in today's broadcast.
