TOURNAMENT RULES
Competition Mode: 1v1
Race Selection: Free choice between matches, Random is allowed.
Game Speed: Faster
Maps: MLG Shakuras Plateau, GSL Tal'Darim Altar LE, MLG Metalopolis, MLG Shattered Temple, MLG Antiga Shipyard, GSL Daybreak, GSL Bel'Shir Beach
**The WGF committee may modify this map choice at any time. Players will be informed before the tournament of any such modifications.**

Tournament procedure:
This is changing for the actual tournament.
The 128 players will be split into 16 groups of 8 players. Each group will play a round-robin bo1 series against everyone else in the group (total of 7 games played by each player). From here, the tournament progresses into a 64-man double-elimination bracket.
The 1st and 2nd place players from each group will be placed into the upper bracket, the 3rd and 4th place players will be placed into the lower bracket, and the 5th to 8th place players are eliminated from the tournament.
From here, matches are bo3 up to the finals which will be bo5.

Procedure of map choice for best of 1 matches: the maps for the groups stage games will be determined by the WGF committee before the start of the tournament, after registration has closed.

Procedure of map choice for best of 3 matches: Player A and B will be decided by coin toss, with Player A being the winner. Player A removes one of the maps, player B removes one map, and player B thumbs down one of the remaining maps, that map will be used for the third match if necessary. Player A then picks the map for the first match.

Procedure of map choice for best of 5 matches: Player A and B will be decided by coin toss, with Player A being the winner. Player A eliminates one map, then Player B eliminates one map. Player B thumbs down one map, that map will be used fourth, Player A thumbs down one map, that map will be fifth. Then player A picks the starting map, and player B picks the second. The remaining map will be used 3rd.

After the match is over, the players must save the replay file to allow a tournament official to check the match results if needed. If the replay file is not saved, the player may be given a warning or lose by default at the tournament director’s sole discretion.

ADDITIONAL RULES
+ Show Spoiler +
Players will sign-up with their real name and SC2 Character Code with their account on http://www.sctechcomm.org and show ID at check-in. WGF reserves the right to not allow a player to participate in the tournament if the player refuses to show ID.

Players will use SCTC’s proprietary tournament management system.

Players must bring their own computer to play on (BYOC). There will not be computers or peripherals provided at the event. Please have StarCraft II®: Wings of Liberty™ installed and updated to the latest patch (currently 1.4.2) before the event begins. Players are also requested to bring their own power strips and/or Ethernet cables.

Players are expected to arrive on time. Players that arrive more than 15 minutes late for the start of their scheduled matchess will be seen as having forfeited. Players that do not flag ready status 10 minutes or less before the start time of a scheduled match will be given a warning or a loss.

Players are expected to have manners, and any inappropriate behavior, as decided by the tournament master, can result in disqualification.

Any attempt to cheat will result in automatic disqualification. This includes but is not limited to intentionally viewing the other player's screen, map hacking, intentional disconnection of the game, or unauthorized plug-ins/third party programs.

If there is no battle for a certain amount of time during the match and the winner cannot be decided clearly after a certain amount of time has passed, the winner will be determined by the highest overall score.

Match Winner is determined by the following:
The player who destroys all the opponent’s buildings
The player whose opponent surrenders
The player with the highest overall score at the end of any time limit imposed by a tournament official

Players are not allowed to pause during the game unless it is due to technical difficulties or disturbances. Any other reason for pausing can result in a warning or loss. If the game is paused, it will only be started under the consensus of both players. If a player starts the game without the approval of the other player, a tournament official may decide on a warning or a loss.

Members of the WGF committee may join as an observer for tournament operations purposes, such as verifying match results or gathering match data.

Participants of event must be over the age of 18 or approved by parent or guardian.
By participating in the event, you are agreeing to all aspects of these rules.

BUGS/EXPLOITS/DISCONNECTS
+ Show Spoiler +
Any other intentional practice that is determined as unfair and/or usage of a program bug, at the sole discretion of the tournament master, can result in a warning at the minimum or loss by default for the offending player.

DISCONNECTIONS
+ Show Spoiler +
A Disconnection includes (but is not limited to): disruption of the connection between match players due to System, Network, PC, and/or Power problems/issues.
Intentional Disconnection: Upon judgment by the tournament official, any offending player will be charged with a loss by forfeit.

When any Disconnection occurs:

1) If disconnection occurs within 3 minutes of start of match: Match Restart
2) If disconnection occurs after 3 minutes of start of match:
If both players agree to a match restart, the match will be restarted. If the players cannot reach an agreement, the winner will be determined by a tournament official after analysis of the match replay file or by the final score at the moment of disconnection.

Penalty for Unfair Play
+ Show Spoiler +
Unfair Play includes (but is not limited to):
1) Use of any map hack program
2) Intentional disconnection
3) Use of any settings exceeding standard and permitted settings
4) Excessive and unnecessary/malicious chatting during the match.
5) If a tournament official decides that external conditions (Press, Player, Spectator, etc) gave an unfair advantage to a player, the player may be given a warning or loss by default at the tournament director’s sole discretion.

Upon discovery of any player committing any violations regarded as unfair play, that player will be automatically disqualified from the tournament.

During the course of any match, the tournament officials and/or tournament master may determine other actions to be unfair play at any time.

im so proud of you guys

kick some ass this year

rock the house

i'll be there in spirit...or in person we'll see

EDIT: and for those of you who are talking about the Bo1's last year (that was because we had one day to finish the whole 128 man tournament, a difficult feat! the original plan did not have Bo1's but we were forced to do so to make the losers bracket catch up)

You got my hopes up when I saw Halo anniversary. It's just halo reach with halo ce maps. I still can't get over that. I don't know how to weight that previous sentence more, but whenever I realize it I just get this 1000 yard stare for 30 seconds.

The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

No official Brood War tournament is confirmed and final. I only mentioned to someone that people could put on an impromptu Brood War tournament on Sunday if they wanted and use some of our $25 gift cards as prizes.

Btw prizes for sc2 are about to be ridiculous; just not quite figured out yet.

Do you have to check in at 3 on Friday?

I have work in Hollywood until 4 PM, could drive down after that but probably won't make it until 7:30 PM. Is that too late to get in and do the round robin?

It's likely we won't be able to wait that long. :\ But if you get super lucky you might be able to grab a spot lol.

You'll have to pay for parking on Friday. It's $8 for a day pass or you can pay by the hour. There's pay machines in most of the parking areas that take cash or credit card. If you park in Gillman, which is the closest parking structure, make sure you buy the permit from the 2nd floor there, no other 1-day permits are good at Gillman. Here's a map for you. Price Center And Bookstore is north west from the parking structure.

Does anyone have a clever way to lug around a rig? I have my tower in a "bag" basically giving it handles, but I still need a second trip for the monitor and other stuff. It's heavy, and was a pain in the butt last year because I had to wait in registration line.
I may not have the collectors edition, but my copy of sc2 is signed by Jaedong :D UPDATE: also by MC

WGF's been here for a long time.

I don't know about a long time, but a while for sure. I remember the first one my junior year there (Feels like a long time ago though).

Unfortunately, like last year, I'll be out of town again this year and unable to stop by though I'd recommend stopping by to at least check it out if you're nearby.

Price Center And Bookstore is north west from the parking structure.

whats closest location to go if my gf is just gonna drop me off with my gear / etc?

Getting dropped off anywhere near Price center would be closest.

Registered!

Yo, are we allowed to share a computer with a friend? Or do we have to individually bring our own?

I have 2-3 friends bringing their comps, and I can always use one of theirs if I match one of them :>

Reason I ask, is because my computer is a complete mess. :<

I'll strongly discourage sharing computers, as it may affect the timeliness of match completion.
However, if you want to use your friends' computers, that's fine as long as it doesn't delay matches, or one or all of you may be in danger of loss/DQ.

Sorry for the confusion folks. Let me clarify:

The SC2 tournament officially starts on Saturday. Friday is just for people who live in the area who want to check-in (get wristbands) early and setup so they don't have to on Saturday.

Friday check-in is open at 1:00PM.
Saturday mandatory check-in is at 10:00AM.

EDIT: corrected times.

If you're confirmed as registered by our system when registration closes, it doesn't matter all that much if you don't show on Friday. However, if you're waitlisted, you should wait until Saturday.

Few questions, 1) how can we confirm we are for sure registered? 2) What time can we stay there until Friday? 3) How early can we arrive Saturday and Sunday, reason I ask is I will always be managing the NASTL qualis Saturday and the IPTL qualis Sunday. They start at 10 am, so I need to be on before the actual start time.

Thanks!

1) Usually you'd wait for confirmation e-mail when reg closes, but I confirmed both you and STX just now. 2) The venue will close around 10 or 11 but if you need to stay longer we can work something out. 3) You can come as early as 8AM on Sat/Sun, which is about how early the committee will arrive.

You can leave your PCs in the venue overnight if you are comfortable with it; we can store your equipment securely in the venue with lock & key that only staff have access to.

As long as there's space (no-shows, under reg cap), you can sign up for tournaments on-site. Though, you *can* sign up for multiple events online; just use the same registration site.

We will provide a significant amount of wired ethernet connections along with port-enabled high bandwith wireless internet.

The setup consists of a series of tables that seat 4 people comfortably with power runs provided and networking running to each.

Yes you can just come get a wristband at check-in and then go straight in with your rig on Saturday.

Agreed -- this could use to be more clear on the OP. This and the bracket link.

Also, link the stream inside of the Binary Beast bracket.

Of course I had to face Rhythm in the very first round of brackets after performing well in the group stages .

Brackets were really, really bad, were they randomly generated?
