Boxer not quite managing to repeat his past performance, but still doing pretty well given the competition
Besides Hero, Liquid doing much better in pools than last time around, especially Ret and Haypro - but still unable to bring the fire in the championship bracket like Hero did in raleigh
Yeah, what happened with Hero? I don't think I saw any of his games.
Top 16, taken out by HongUn. Which is actually still a solid showing, but not as hot as last go around.
The irony here is that because of huk won, people saying "don't underestimate foreigner". But tbh, huk is already considered to be a korean, he was training in the oGs house for a couple of month. This is only a true non-korean win if people like stephano or incontrol, etc win.

Nothing... only non followers consider Huk a "Foreigner"
Anyone who trains in Korea under that atmosphere is considered a "Korean" player.
maybe we can get this thread to 1k after all
HUK KOREAN? DISCUSS
I'd see it more like hockey. During the NHL, there's a lot of foreigners playing for Canadian and American teams because the NHL is the biggest competition for ice hockey. (And lots of Canadians playing on American teams.) However, when the teams plays for the Olympics, all the the players return to their own countries. But Canucks fans will continue seeing the Sedin twins as their own, while Sweden will see the Sedin twins as their own.
Both are right. The Sedins are Canucks and play on a Canadian team. However, they are also Swedish and playing on the Canucks doesn't change where they were born.
So yeah, still a foreigner.
The Sedins are Örnsköldsvikare first, then Swedes (and their parents are my neighbors). :p
well I wanna give huge props to mlg since their tournament keeps getting better and better every time... ever since that first major screw up they've really stepped up their game. without a doubt mlg providence is going to be one of the biggest tournaments of the year

20% of what Stephano got for IPL. TT
Although MLG has already announced that their prize pool will be increased next season.
But because of the GSL partnership winning a MLG is more impressive than a IPL. Not saying that Stephanos win inn IPL wasn't EXTREMELY impressive!
IPL didn't have Koreans?
MLG had better Koreans
Debatable.
MLG had more Koreans (though IPL also had a high number).
MLG had Bomber, but IPL had MMA.
The highest finishing Korean Terran in MLG, STC, was also in IPL.
The only thing IPL was missing was MC, but it had Inori, and it had Alive, and it had a couple of Korean Zergs which MLG did not.
It didn't have MKP and Polt, though.
MC was at IPL. Alive was at MLG. Inori was at MLG as well. Pretty much the only Koreans IPL had that weren't at MLG were SlayerS (other than Boxer)guys and FXO Lucky.
MKP, Polt, Bomber all being at MLG makes it better.

sad. He plays such a technical macro pvp and really destroyed huk with multi-tasking.

The thing that really annoys me is that MLG''s tournament system is horrible, and they aren't willing to change anything until next year.
Some of the biggest problems are
-Players like Incontrol constantly being seeded into the pools despite loosing all the time (no disrespect to InControl, i know hes a great guy). Basically if you place well in one of the first two MLG's, you can ride that seeding through until the end of the year. -Extended series ruining exitement -Still only bo3 in the semi finals? Are you kidding me!?!?!? The semi's should be bo5 and no extended series -A system where the grand final can be over in 2 games. What a joke... -Grand final should be bo7 no extended series. -Pathetic prize money
The grand final consisted of 2 games. Both games were decided within the first 5 minutes (4 gate micro win and a failed cannon rush). This is a combination of bad maps, bad balance by blizzard and a bad tournament system by MLG.
I can't stress enough how disappointing the final was for this tournament. Idra vs Bomber was true grand final in my eyes...

I dont think mc was there at the time.
he was but the wind put him out first because he felt he was the best chance to get an all-kill so if anything it shows that MC was rated higher in the team than Huk, not to take anything away from Huk but having him as their ace was not based upon who was the best player on the team
There should be a designated thread for the pointless Huk's nationality debate. Every time he plays the subject comes up, and it seems like it pollutes every thread around.

More != better.
I'm talking about the average skill level of Koreans being about the same between the two tournaments, unless you feel that July and HongUn are much better players than Lucky and Ryung.
