It's a remnant of the bad blood that used to be there between Idra and TB. Twitch is being Twitch and, despite several attempts, the word keeps popping up in the censored list.

Seriously - how many people would really care and be passionate about baseball if it wasn't for rivalries like the Yankees-Red Sox, or the Cubs-White Sox? These are a deep-rooted part of the history of baseball. In the NBA, it's the Celtics and the Lakers, or the Celtics and the Knicks. You love one, you absolutely despise the other.
These add extra meaning to games that would otherwise be just simple somewhat meaningless matchups between two foes, games that hold little meaning in the grand scheme of things but now take on extra meaning in terms of the loyal fanbase.
Without the fans, these sports (and, by the same token, ESPORTS) become meaningless and diminish. Baseball fans aren't going to watch 162 games a year. NBA fans probably don't mostly watch 82 games a year. And I know I don't have time to watch every time IdrA plays. But god damn, if I know he's playing someone where there's pride on the line (CrunCher, for example), I will devour that match. Rivalries like this build a bigger, more passionate scene, and it's ok to absolutely despise the other player and hope that he trips over his grandmother and breaks his wrist and never plays again loses so embarrassingly that he wants to shrink away into the darkness. And if he beats my favorite player? You're damn right I'm going to call him a skilless fucking newbie who wins by doing stupid shit and berate the piss out of him.
Because I care.
Signed in just to say you nailed it. Anyone claiming that "we are above that" is just being pretentious. I will continue to be passionate about the players I enjoy watching because that's what makes it interesting to me.

He always whines about IdrA RQ'ng on reddit. That's understandable. 2GD is also in the autoban list by TB. That was yesterday, not sure if he whitelisted it.
why is 2GD on autoban O.o?
probably because of Dreamhack. TB's like Milkis but never leaves.

quoted for truth. I agree
But would you visit a forum that has fanatical fans from both teams bashing each other? Probably not, nothing good comes out of it. It might be funny at first, and feels pretty childlish very fast. In real life/barcraft/whatever this might be rivalry in all fun, because there are limits in normal human social interaction, but forums rarely have such thing.
Edit: Also, in real sports, despite rivalries there is some form of deep respect for the skill of the opposing team, although this if of course not acknowledged. Otherwise, rivalries somewhat lose their "flavor".
You are implying that sports forums are not full of trolling and team/player hating; in fact I have not been to any general (not team-specific) forum that isn't full of the stuff. It's all part of the fun.

Must quote this post again because I agree completely. Part of the fun of watching sc2, especially in these LR threads, is fans having stupid arguments about why their player is better than the other one, or how he shouldn't have lost because of this obvious reason, etc. Its harmless banter of the kind common among fans watching any sporting contest.
The whole racial bias thing only serves to fuel this, I don't see why its a problem.

Idra FIGHTING
not really. you didn't miss a great deal.

20 minutes
Could I get a quick recap then please? Thanks
i didn't see the elfi/select series, apparently the first three games were poor and the 4th was a decent macro game
idra/white-ra was idra smacking white-ra about something silly the first two games, third was decent enough but white-ra could never really gain a decisive edge and didn't have too many good engagements, allowing idra to deny mining and starve him out. someone else can elaborate further if they want but there wasn't good games to speak about

Part of the fun? A bunch of mindless people spewing out pointless insults? Where is the fun in that?
You guys want to make SC2 become more about this drama shit rather than about the game. This is why every time there is a tournament the banned thread grows 10 pages.

if everyone is somewhat grown up and well mannered then some trolling can be amusing. if it crosses the line into offensive/childish/whatever then that's when it'd become a problem

You should do like that thread and grow up.
The meta game is interesting. But it changes slowly.
So there are alot of games that are just standard, and not very interesting. Loving and Hating players gets you through those boring games and it makes those games where there are big metagame shifts even better.
