So with the new U&D format change, the winner gets Code S and runner-up gets to choose his group? Or is there no benefit for coming second?

Think it still needs a patch to have other build orders more viable. Not to kill the 4 gate, just something which makes the 4g a riskier build. As it is, 4gate in PvP isn't risky, it's a 1 base all-in with no risk unless your opponent 4 gates.

doesnt need a patch, it needs players that are good enough. It's been almost two months now that we've seen plenty of pvp from players that are good enough to make anyone who 4gates look like they belong in diamond but these two not so much. This time it's the players not the game.

they dont suck, they got here through playing good. Their pvp though isnt really up to snuff. Watch a pvp with naniwa, mc or huk playing a similarly good player and you will be blown away when comparing it to what we are watching now.

Puzzle beat MC in a pvp long time ago when MC was still invincible in it.
Oh and I'm pretty sure that they have better PvP than NaNiWa/HuK...

First place gets auto-Code S.

As for runner up...yeah I'm actually not sure also

yeah, it tilts the hell out of me that blizzard pours sixty million dollars (or a hundred million -- however much) into developing SC2 and they didn't hire someone with the wisdom to point out that eliminating defender's advantage is a really stupid move.

MC had a pretty sick game on Taldarim where he held the choke with 2 FF's versus XiaoT


That game was awesome.

2nd place goes to the up and down matches. No benefits.

I wonder if a shield battery building would help. Maybe allow the defender to regen shields on their stalkers, and 3 gates, while not cutting probes.

Because he had already won. He could have made 20 Ultras with that money and still won

this explains why my game vs HwangSin in the TLOpen #19, he 4gated and I didn't because clearly I was the superior player.....(/endsarcasm) that said 4gating is a solid opening in PvP generally safe from tons of other builds and can give you essentially a free-win if your opponent messes up (i misplaced my ff by a pixel allowing him vision to warpin and cripple me lol)

Confirmed

Tassadar stacks his probes on the close patches, Puzzle does not. This makes a HUGE difference in a matchup built on razor thin timings. Makes about a 6-7 second difference in warpgate timings.

PvP micro is certainly exciting, but here is the problem:
If this was a TvT, the first game would finish only now. Worst case, we'd be in the 2nd game.
