Someone from playxp wrote a clever analysis of GSL Finals failure:

"In GSL, after the quarter-finals, the time given to prepare is just too much.

With so much time to prepare, players come out with perfectly prepared build/timings.

However, when such build/timing fails, because it's just too perfectly planned out, we do not get a long intense game but rather one landslide victory.

Either win game 1 and win it all, or fail game 1 and lose it all.

Unlike the Finals(-esque[better build order player winning rather than more skilled player winning]) Games, it's more of Build Order fight.

But with drastic number of games like NASL format (many tightly scheduled games), it is unusual to be a build order fight. It will be a Finals of more skilled player coming on top, solely depending on players dedication and practice and talent.

And with such practice and commitment to the game, it will only result in Good Games."

TSL3 had quite a bit of time in between matches to prepare though. Might be an exception to the rule I guess.

Oh well he still won. Anyway was the best finals from sc2 i have seen.

unlucky? he was out played. only reason he won game 7 was because mc decided to go all in and it didn't work.

Maybe if Protoss wasn't simply better than Terran in a classical late-game situation, Puma would have won 4-0 (yes I play Protoss but I'm not enough biased to deny this).

But last games were mostly won by the balls anyway.

All games were very good but games 5 and 6 were such nailbiters that I was actually twitching every time there was an engagement.

I am, why is that a nickname?

I don't know what skin problem Puma has, but I'm just glad that the price money will be able to help him deal with it.

People might find it funny that he would want to use the money on skincare, but trust me, if there's a problem with your health then that's more important to you than a say a new car, ect.

This. Not to go too much on a tangent, but keep in mind certain treatments (laser etc) do require quite a lump of cash. There are plenty other malign skin conditions beyond ordinary acne. It could help much his self-esteem and personality as a young person..

Yea I think it was an amazingly mature and honest answer. Don't get why it's funny.

This applies not only to the GSL finals but to every scheduled game in the GSL. In the finals, I think evenly matched players will always show great games, but there is always one GSL finalist that does not deserve to be there, aside from GSL season 1 and MKP.

Showed that Terran can beat MC? I think you must have missed Bomber and Polt's matches with MC before =p PvT is clearly MC's weakest matchup, but as you can see, its still friggin' beastly o_O

When I read comments such as these, I ask myself whether there are Protoss players to whom PvT isnt the weakest MU.

haha true, though I think the only exception to that is Alicia, his PvT is substantially better than his PvZ.

maybe because foreigners dont spend as much time as koreans on building build orders and practicing to perfect it. Plus, koreans are in teams where each player practices a lot so they could help refine the build.

I believe, Puma showed us today that this is not the case. Remember the game on metalopolis where he was down 40-50 supply against 200/200 toss and won due to incredible ghost control?

Iam glad for everyone that the final games were so great. Made up alot for the time waisted watching day1 and day2 with all the problems and breaks between games.

I also liked Getorp and Incontrol casting the finals, even tho I really hated them during the season.

So NASL now just has to fire the sound- and cameracrew and it will be awesome(or excellent) in Season2.

Puma won because he was better.

From these games, I think Terran just has a higher skill cap. I honestly don't think Puma outplayed MC because of MC was so spot on about the drops and insta reacted to everything, but Terran's harass options are just so strong.. especially when you have a top tier Terran player doing it.
