Hey guys - These games are meant to be fun and for your entertainment. Caster and Player bashing will not be tolerated. Manner please!
Also, this is a Live Report thread - not the place to discuss your displeasure with the event or any of the people involved with it. |

You also forget that it is hard to place 1st in the Open Tournament. Especially with all the Koreans that play. You can't really call that "bashing some NA master league players." The Open Tournament will stay just as strong, at least until all the top Koreans make it into the league, but the Grand Finals will also get stronger (which probably means less foreigners).
All in all, I think the Open Tournament winner taking the entire event is an anomaly that had a good chance of happening this season, but will probably never happen again. Not THAT hard, since the only Koreans in the Open Tournament were a bunch of guys from TSL and Check. The rest were a lot of guys from NA server and a few Europeans. Season 2 Qualifier tournament had tougher competition and more Koreans.
It is somewhat hard, but really, the open tournament should get you invited into the league, not into the Ro16 with guaranteed prize money. The rest of the guys either had to place well in the league over 9 weeks of scheduled matches that they set time aside for, or place not-so-well and beat two other decent players to get the playoff spot. At the very least, PuMa should have been seeded into one fo the playoff groups instead of directly into the Ro16.

Sponsors
Beyond Gaming, ThermalTake, Sports, CSN, and Justin.tv all came to show their support for NASL's first LAN event.
Beyond Gaming is a social gaming network where gamers can play their favorite Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC games to earn great rewards. Their staffs will be showcasting their newest product, a multi-genre tournament portal for competitive sports.

If you are here for free stuff, crowd around Tt eSPORTS. ThermalTake will provide give-aways throughout this weekend of the very gears powering the sponsor stations. Weller, the Tt eSPORTS rep, predicts White-Ra to take home $50,000, rather than siding with his countryman, Sen.

All the bickering and debating about who should get invited and who shouldn't in the beginning... In the end, a guy from the open bracket takes the win. Pretty funny.

Typically the thinking is that the 1st seed SHOULD be better than the 1st place in the open tournament which SHOULD'VE given Ret the upperhand A lot of other tournaments do this as well (besides the Ro16 and prize money I guess) such and Dreamhack and MLG, I personally like it^_^ and basically with the thinking above, on paper you win $500 for an open tournament win and a chance at more if you are really talented(PuMa ^_^)

Is there any way to watch the finals without paying the fee?
|
It surprised me but I really liked Gretorp's/InControl's casting in those last 2 games. They were funny, yet very analytic.

Is that really how you remember the finals? Pretty absurd lol. I should remember it as something other than what it was ? I guess your a bit sensitive about lag complaints. Were you on the free or premium service? I was on 720p and didn't get a single moment of stutter or lag through the whole of Day3. I was on the premium service and got really bad stuttering issues during intense battles, even though I have no lag issues with other streams (and even with NASL during the first 9 weeks). During battles, it would drop to 1 frame every 3 seconds, and the audio would cut out a little bit. In the last battle of the last match, I saw the two armies approach, the screen locked up and I heard Gretorp shout about EMPs. Then after a few seconds of just sitting there, it cuts to Gretorp and Incontrol talking about how Puma is now the season 1 winner. I originally had it on 1080p+, but kept turning it down to try to increase performance, going as low as 360p before just accepting that it's not a bandwidth issue, I'm just losing signal sporadically. Like I said, it was fine during the first 9 weeks, it was only during this live event that it got really bad. This was my experience exactly. It was only bad during the moments that mattered the most, and changing the resolution didn't do anything to resolve it.However, when it was working (which was 99.9% of the time), the quality was phenomenally good. I can only hope that the quality of the MLG HQ streams will be close to NASL's.
Disable chat. The reason why it lags at the best moments is that thousands of people on chat are simultaneously going "OMGWTFOMGOMGOMG", so disabling chat should help ..
