Should have seen Halo:CE, best console shooter ever

Which doesnt really mean a lot ^^

I would not have a problem at all with Halo if it wasnt that they play it on an inferior format for competative gaming...

indeed, console fps is a joke

I understand saying a PC is the only way to play an RTS but you cant give me a good reason why an FPS has to be played on PC. (actually when Halo 1 was on PC it was terrible)

The reason is that mouse+keyboard controls have no skill ceiling on how well you can aim, whereas there is a limit to how fast you can turn on a 360 controller, lol.

Don't start with this PC elitist crap, If I took a top PC cs or quake gamer and made them play against pros on a console game they wouldnt get destroyed and exact same if I took a console pro and made them play on a PC.

Actually I think if you put someone like avek/toxqj/cypher by himself vs an entire team of Halo pros working together, he would win. I would bet thousands of dollars on this. (In Quake not Halo)

Ok, you're one of those people who absolutely refuse to believe anything other then the "PC master race", no point arguing with you at all.

I don't believe that being good at Halo or mastering gamepad controls takes no skill, it's just that the skills are not transferable at all to PC FPS and especially Quake. I would be willing to make the exact same bet for the best Call of Duty PC players.

The question is would you make the reverse bet and if you wouldnt then you are basically holding onto a theory that one takes way more skill than another which I have trouble accepting when no one has said anything to support it.

I really wish Id didn't back off the idea of making a q3a style game in their new engine.. I love the simplicity of quake compared to all these new games with xp, classes and hats (though I used to love TF2)

Its like you could play SC2 with a Madcatz TE stick and if everyone did it it would be a level playing field, competitive and entertaining but it seems weird to use a worse tool for the job. That's why people including myself think console FPS is silly.

And anyone playing FPS with a keyboard and mouse will body anyone playing with a gamepad at top levels.

The difference is in controls. A mouse takes more skill to control since it can move insanely fast with the right settings. It does not have an infinite skillcap but the cap is much higher then any human can ever hope to achieve.

A gamepad has a set (pretty low) speed that limits the skillceiling.

To me the controller is the better tool for the job. Ive used both and aiming in PC shooters is laughably easy just as it is in console shooters. Once you figure out sensitivity for both you have basically locked yourself in to a mass amount of headshots. I am sure it is odd for a PC gamer and difficult even to use a console controller because it is different and it takes time to adjust to just like going from xbox to ps3 takes a few mins even for an experienced gamer.

Look at the speed of halo and then look at the speed of quake. That is the difference between a game that is made with the limits of analogue stick controls in mind and a game with the utility of a mouse and keyboard in mind.

Actually I think if you put someone like avek/toxqj/cypher by himself vs an entire team of Halo pros working together, he would win. I would bet thousands of dollars on this. (In Quake not Halo)

Ok, you're one of those people who absolutely refuse to believe anything other then the "PC master race", no point arguing with you at all.

wow sweet ninja edit with the (in quake not halo) . You didn't even read my comment correctly. I said that Console pros will beat the best pc pros on in a console game and vice versa. Please read what I wrote

Just as Rapha would own the entire Halo team in Quake, one Halo player would own 4

Exactly, It's nice to see some people are understanding my point and actually read what I said properly.

You didn't even have a point. You responded to someone that said m+k has a higher skill ceiling because of practically infinite precision, unlike a console controller, which is true, and said blabla PC elitist blabla. You're the one that started this argument over nothing. You asked for it. What did you expect?

Honestly should have seen Halo2 which might have been most entertainign shooter i have ever seen.

Just as Rapha would own the entire Halo team in Quake, one Halo player would own 4 Quake players in Halo.
The difference is in controls. A mouse takes more skill to control since it can move insanely fast with the right settings. It does not have an infinite skillcap but the cap is much higher then any human can ever hope to achieve.

A gamepad has a set (pretty low) speed that limits the skillceiling.

If you ever saw any halo game (beyond CE) on 10 sensitivity then saying one moves way way faster than another would almost be considered funny.

Never watched or played Quake before today but it's pretty entertaining. I've learned enough watching a few matches to pick up the basics of the game.

Although I don't know what they mean by 'rail' or what gun that is. Like I don't know the name of the lightning gun thing and the laser gun. I'm assuming one is the railgun?

Why does it always boil down to some X vs Y discussion ;>?
Quake is a great game, I love it, and I have to say Reach impressed me somewhat, seeing as I stopped caring about Halo around 2-3, but it does look decent.
It appears I have been chosen.

The laser one is the railgun yes, basically a sniper.
