Can any team particulate in this qualifier or is it just known/sponsored teams? + Show Spoiler +had to troll

8 teams are not enough!
Make it a 16 team league please!
Edit: At least 12...

I think Millenium and Empire can really qualify, since mille didnt have luck last time (how many losses 3-2...) Nerchio and Stephano are actually the best european zergs, they really deserve to show this.

Wow this is so unprofessional as has been expected from EG MCSL's management when it comes to teams. 1 days notice? Really? I really hope all the top teams have been notified of this at least 2 weeks before this "announcement" but I doubt that will be the case. It's a shame because everything on the broadcast side is great.

Yet two European teams fell out of the series, so Season VI is going to introduce an NA team at the expense of a European slot. Not sure how I feel about that, given that the EU server is universally acknowledged as the more difficult server.
If Empire enters, they will definitely win, (wait, why were they snubbed last season?) but that leaves out MYM, Millenium, Ai, and some other good teams. While the NA qualifier will probably bring in Reign or GoSu, and I can't say I'd expect either of those teams to be favorites against some of the European squads that won't be included.
Why not make this league a twelve team league? Eight teams is too few, twelve would get just about all of the good teams out there, but still have some competition for the final spots.

Agree, 12 teams would be much better.. Then if they still want the season to last 7weeks they could pick randomly 7 teams for each team instead of playing all 11 other teams.

As Colbi said: they consider having more teams in future seasons. Just give them some time and enjoy season 6 with "only" 8 teams. God like I hate people always complaining about everything. If they didn't do it this time, that definitely have a reason. Just accept it!
And even with 12 places, you could not give every good team a place in it. Every team has a chance to qualify ... so let's see who get's the spots

Completely open qualifiers would be cool with more notice, but well done getting this up on what was obviously short notice as I am a fan of qualifiers even if they are invite-only qualifiers!

I agree that European teams in general seem stronger, but if two Euro teams fell out of the league, whose fault is that? MYM and Millenium had their shot, with the former getting shellshocked, I'm not sure that MYM is "deserving" of a spot. And Millenium played decently, but yeah.
Reign on the other hand, is a very strong team. You look at Kiwi/Slush and you've already got a fierce two 1v1s and an ACE in Kiwi (assuming he has the time, based on the fact he's going to WSOP I feel like Reign may not be as scary), I think they're scarier than any of the European teams outside of Empire. And if Team Liquid ever resolves the issue regarding server play or whatnot, I feel like they could also be scary (don't know if they'd do NA or EU, I'd assume NA though).

I think 8 is fine. Too be honest I don't think 4 more teams will bring in 33% more viewers and won't make the league 33% percent more entertaining, but you will have to pay casters more and teams more for having to fight through all of that.

I hope you guys adopt the all kill format, or at least put serious considerations towards it. (granted you'll probably have to let go of the Bo3 format which understandably you wouldn't want to, or else one player would have to play waaaay too many games) Anyways, I really enjoyed last season, here's to another good season.

Having 33% more matches and therefore hopefully 33% more viewers is enough. More importantly though, is that a bigger league - possibly 12 or 16 - would make the competition more prestigious in the sense that it is THE team league outside Korea. I am aware that the SPL never had 12-16 teams, but then the SC2 world is a much bigger place with more teams than BW Korea.
If this tournament expands, it can really establish itself as the premier team event, and possibly the biggest event in international SC2. Surveys have already shown that people are more interested in team competitions than individual competitions, but we are just lacking a tournament with the courage and infrastructure to accommodate it.
Still, I don't like the fact that EG runs the team league, but there's no choice since no 3rd party has been willing to take that responsibility so far. Hopefully, EG can sell the competition for big bucks in the future and just partake as participants.
