Only thing that kinda concerned me was Squirtle vs MvP, where there was literally 7 orbitals spamming. At one point I saw an expansion with one scv, 8 mules and its like uhh, who needs scvs! Yeah, he did it vs oGsHyperdub.. Artosis mentioned that this "TrueMax" theory which its called had only really been thought out in theory, but this was the first time it was used in a highlevel game..
But holy crap.. I'm still having nerdchills after that series.. Easily best i've ever seen...

you can if you buy the season ticket for season one.
However, I recommend getting the season ticket for the GSTL team league, the finals alone is worth it.

best finals and tournament weve seen so far in sc2. startale put up a great fight and IM won deserved with the overall sickest lineup of all teams.
teamleagues are just amazing and with the perfect finals to finish it off we really couldnt ask for more.
also the new maps def produce WAY better games on average then the other maps (even tho the results where kinda unbalanced with P>>T=Z). but even IF they have balance problems it now should be obvious that in that case the game has to change and not the maps. never saw so many "broodwar moments" in a sc2 tournament before.
|
The tournament itself had a lot of good games, that ace vs clide game was amazing, as was the finals. I truly believe though that the major victory to take from this tournament was the great success of the new maps, hopefully for the next season of gsl, they can use these and not have to deal with steps, delta, jungle basin and blistering sands.

Really great finals. I love team leagues so much better and the new maps (and removal of old maps) just made it so much better.

My point was to highlight how ridiculous mules are. People fear terran loses strength in macro map when in reality it means more bases which means more mules.

Remember, Xel'Naga is considered the most balanced ladder map. It provided very nearly the worst game in the series.
This should show that the GSL maps are leaps. and. bounds. better than ladder maps.

just bought the ticket for GSTL finals... on game 5 now
hahhahhahha at the dancing badmanner... thats hilarious
totally worth the 5$ for anyone debating buying

I declare squirtle the greatest protoss.
His play was fucking spectacular.

The finals really made the GSL-TL. Pretty generic/one sided brackets and then a f-ing EPIC finals. What a great series. :D

That's true, but the result of the game had more to do with the poor decisions made. He went down two tech paths and tossed away his initial units. Sure, a larger map might have precluded the doomed headlong charge to the Zerg expansion and/or afforded him time to mass the units he wanted without paying for his mistake, but just building your map pool around games where it's hard to play poorly enough to lose seems odd.
|
Well, even though it was kinda one sided. Especially + Show Spoiler +squirtle teamkilling the entire fOu team.. .. The fact that the less accomplished players, at least in the GSL anyway, showed so many amazing games is just great.
|
I mentioned this last night, but I want to reemphasize that games like MVP vs Bomber and MVP vs Squirtle are the type of games that we as fans want to see. Furthermore its what players like us want to get good at. Watching those games im so pumped to improve my multitasking, macro, micro, decision making etc. Its unfortunate that over half of the ladder pool currently wont lead to crazy games like the ones we saw.

Alright so I checked the recommended games poll and as always they say that all games are recommend. If you guys have to be honest, which ones are actually worth watching?

Fucking brilliant series. Should definitely spend money to watch this in HD. Some of Squirtle's PvT is just beautiful.

Watch them all. They're really good.
One of the best games, imo, was MVP vs Ggoboogie (squirtle) on one of the new GSL maps. Epic

I loved how much Artosis went crazy during the last games.
Good commentating is everything!

The ones with the highest percentage of yes votes, obviously.
If you're asking for personal recommendations, I'd seriously watch them all, but if you only have time for a few then pick games 6, 7 and 8.

This was an exciting ending to a brief, but fun filled tournament. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I know the stats are readily available on TLPD, but here's a few charts I whipped up so you can save yourself some time!
