Great work Jinro!! Delaying the third for so long wasnt really talked about on GOM but first killing the probe with the hellion and then the banshee was stellar.

MC getting eliminated could be very bad for SC2's chances in Korea.

I wouldn't be so sure . The studio errupted with each of Jinro's games (vs MC) when with a large number of other ones it's just another day in SC2 (not to mention excitement for Nada games, etc that day as well). SC2 is growing and with the number of all-ins in previous seasons, this is quite frankly the best one yet the all-ins we have seen aside. I tried to go to sleep last night, I really did but I was absolutely glued to the stream from midnight (EST) to 4am (following Jinro's interview) whereas with previous seasons I would stay up, watch a few games, get antsy and go to sleep.

This is the first season I have re-watched VODs more than twice. I don't think MC getting eliminated is going to hurt it at all. In fact, if the same player kept winning over and over, it would get dull, especially with most of MC's games being a face smashing push that while impressive ends the games relatively quickly. What it NEEDS is more macro based, longer games (Jinro, Idra, Nada, etc) to maintain/build interest. Like I said, you could see the excitement in the studio following both of the Jinro/MC games....it's been a while since there was that much energy in that studio .

Actually, having the same player win over and over is what leads to a high number of viewers. Think about it, what we really want to see is a bonjwa. To have someone like Flash/Jaedong completely destroy everybody else. Makes for excitement.

People will really go out of their way to contradict other peoples on the internet.

So being sure of the results beforehand makes for excitement ? No. Rivalry makes for excitement. Having one guy killing everyone for months makes for intense boredom and droping viewers.

If Idra wins, SC2 popularity will explode in Korea as millions of citizens take up arms against the invading Gracken.

This must happen.

Yeah, everyone thinks it's boring when it's happening. They hate that the player always wins yet they start tuning in every single time to see if someone beats them. Then, when that player's reign is finally over, everybody always ends up thinking back to how good that player was and how amazing it was to see them dominate the competition.

It's a fact that while dynasties are generally hated in sports while they're at the top, they're talked about because they make history. A little parity is a good thing, but a sport or esport being a crapshoot where a different person wins each match or tournament makes for far less entertaining results over time.
This space for rent.

Finally caught up with the GSL. All I have to say is Go Jinro!

Okay, I'll say more.

When he was matched up against MC the first time, my friends and I were devastated. Based on their history, I thought it would be over right there.

When he was matched against MC the second time, I was worried that the first win would be a one time thing.

Nope. Turns out Jinro's just that damn good. Can't wait to see Jinro vs. Idra. I know who my money's on. Figuratively anyway. It's on Jinro.

What would lead to a high number of viewers is people actually playing skillfully rather than pulling their workers and crossing their fingers.

Why players like Rainbow resort to trash play like that is beyond me. I'm glad he got beaten, and I hope everyone who tries crap like that gets stomped on. The sooner it dies the sooner we can see more games like the ones Jinro and Idra play regularly.

Rainbow was beyond disappointing. His TvP strat that he did not want to revea vs NEXGenius was... hidden expo.

To be honest, when I saw it go down I was really impressed. I definitely thought that it was a pretty ballsy solution to grab a lead in a game against a better player without resorting to retarded bunker rushing. + Show Spoiler +
Rainbow did get killed but to be fair that heavy sentry push by MC kills an awful lot of great terrans.

Edit: I'm crying protoss tears but singing Swedish songs. Just so you know .

Any comments on this Jinro?

This one move almost cost you the game, and he forum exploded afterwards, but most people shrugged it off as "oh he just messed up this one time...." when force fielding is probably the most important freaking thing a protoss can do when attacking

Dunno, mistake or didnt want to block his zealots from attacking the bunker/tanks.

Exactly! To everyone comparing MC's first and second game. The first composition was sentry, STALKER against MM in bunkers, the FFs are to keep the units from running away as well as prevent repairing.

In Jinro's game, MC had a sentry ZEALOT composition vs only one bunker and TANKS. If he FF the bunker then the tanks would eat up the zealots like nothing. There was also a turret on the high ground to prevent more lifting by the phoenixes, their high dps with low phoenix health would destroy the air force. That is why he spent more energy on guardian shield instead, to reduce the splash damage of the tanks which would do more damage to his units than just a bunker. It was NOT a mistake, it was his strategy and thought process which failed.

Guardian Shield is useless against splash damage. It does no reduction as it is not treated as a ranged attack. In fact against mech it pretty much has no effect what-so-ever. I think he could have used FF to block the bunker from being repaired without blocking the path to the siege tanks.

I think MC just did not execute his attack as well as he could have.

Different views, different opinions. Besides you are comparing two extremes. Having one player dominate the scene is boring and having a ton of them win all the time is boring as well, but having a mix of 3 or 4 players who consistently prove themselves above the rest is what makes for an exciting competition.

At the very least have one great player for every race to increase rivalry between the races and players as well. Add in a dark horse and you have yourself a real competition.

ZOMG I just saw the Vods at 5:00 in the morning, after I came home.

That was really amazing. I never expected that. I hope Jinro gets even further, that was so impressive - every single game!

And competition is good. I'm swiss, so obviously I'm a big fan of Federer. Having him dominate the scene was really nice, he played just so awesome. But having competition with Nadal and other very good players is the best thing that happened.

And seriously: I don't want to see players get roflstomped. Of course it's fun to watch, but it's over quickly and it gets boring. I rather see a 5-set match with tie breaks than a 3 set match with 6-1 and 6-0 wins.
