My only explanation for that was he didn't know that his roaches could reach the tanks? He had a lot of opportunities to run over there and snipe them ;(
He should have known, especially with how far those tanks were shooting into his base and he must have had a glimpse of the tank at one point. I really don't know why he went for the marines instead there, take the tank out and you`re safe because the roaches will tear through the marines.

Bawwww, come on Ret you can do it!
Don't let all the naysayers get to you!

I didn't watch the first game. But the last two games weren't cheese.

yeah, he could have held that easily if it wasn't for so many wasted roaches
make a larger group of roaches instead of sending small groups to get killed.

I think Ret will be crushed in every game if he keeps playing like this. You're practically talking about every zerg out there I know as a zerg you have to fast expand but my feeling is saying Ret is doing it way earlier as other Zergs I've seen. I don't play the game so I can't speak from experience there but that's just what I feel seeing Ret play. I could be totally wrong naturally.
If we say GSL is the arena for the highest players out there it's safe to assume hatch first is best and most viable option as even the best zergs tried it even on steppes on war vs terran. This was Shakuras, pretty much the best map for hatch first. I would say he is doing things as good as anyone might. I don't even know what other things he could do. Why go later hatch when the map allows for hatch first? Pool first is worse eco-wise and only other thing that comes to mind is bling bust but that isn't that great vs good players.

Ret should have also thrown down a third. His opponent never scouted the map.

Ret did not mess up his play, but it's not anything spectacular either, while his opponents have been exceptional awesome. G1 is some nice bio micro by aLive, same for Ace's airforce in G2, and now Ret fell to a fresh drop & tank placement

Maybe if you account for this kind of strategy by breaking down the rocks as soon as possible, it becomes a bit easier to deal with, however on close positions vs terran I guess an open path would somewhat favor terran.
Alternatively maybe you can get an early 3rd base and creep up to it, make your Lair at the natural and just let the main be sacced without spending too much defending it.

That was actually pretty well played on Maru's part, he abused the map perfectly.
But how does he play so badly against Ace and then so well against Ret, and why can't it be the other way round?

If he beats NexFreesaga and Gilja he will be 2-3 at that point FreeSaga has a minimum of 3 losses as well and Gilja or Maru will need to lose 1 more match to be 2-3.

I would say outplayed.

In order to qualify:
Ret needs to win his last two games PLUS Either FreeSaga to lose every game OR FreeSaga winning 1 game that's not vs. Ret AND MaruPrime losing every game.
This is the case of a [2-3] that's not decided by the person that proceeds is based on head to head record.
If 2-3 records are settled by a tiebreaker, then remove the MaruPrime going 1-4 from the equation.

I think ret's only chance is if gilja and freesaga lose the rest of their games. And to think, I was really looking forward tonight and instead, foreigners just get a giant slap to the face.
Also, bo1 is really annoying

Way way too greedy play by Ret pumping Drones and fast lair in Swap of army and got punished Duly by some Delightful Micro by Maru.Prime
Roach speed.
and to be fair at that point he had to commit to roaches for defense or risk losing his main. As you saw the roaches barely held that main. If he had tried mutas that late he wouldn't have held.
Whenever I play this map I am going to tear down those rocks ;P
