Man I stayed up just to watch and root for Haypro. Haypro really should have expected an aggressive push, though. He just had way too few units.

Imo, Haypro shoulda 6pooled on Scrap after Game 1.

I feel like the hatch before pool isn't really the deciding factor in these SCV vs zergling showdowns, zergs haven't made enough spines or banelings to handle the pushes. 15h 14p 13g can get slowbanes and a spine or two, maybe not enough income to support 2 immediate injections, but creep doesn't hurt either.

When one person plays really well, it makes the other player LOOK like they are playing really bad.

only if they're outplayed.
there are great games where both players play really well, but the loser doesn't look bad other than maybe 1 mis-micro'd battle that ended up costing him the game.

I just don't understand the insistence to hatch first. Ok, you can pull it off on Scrap but you'd better be scouting like a crazy man. What he needed against that push was speedling/bling/queen, not roaches.

Did Foxer pioneer this SCV/marine all-in? I don't remember anyone talking about it up until I saw him do it.

I'm not making a claim about balance, but I think due to the current metagame Terran WILL win this season of the GSL. Not because the 2 rax is unstoppable, but because right now if you're terran you can make them play your game for the first ten minutes of the game. You can put up two barracks so they are forced to put up a baneling nest. They put up a baneling nest so they're gonna be a little slower on their lair. They're slower on their lair so you can get some solid kills with a cloaked banshee. You can diminsh their income with the banshees so they'll need to spend more larva on drones to replenish. They're spending more larva on drones which means they have a smaller army than you therefore you can win.

My logic could be WAY off here, but that's the way Tasteosis seems to be saying these games will play out and it looks like that's what's been happening. I'd very much appreciate your guy's thoughts on this.
I root for Euro Zergs, NA Protoss* and Korean Terrans. (Any North American who has beat a Korean Pro as Protoss counts as NA Toss)

stop calling scv pulls all in.

everyone knows that is not true.

and pulling scv is always smart for Terrans no matter what. as Day9 puts it.

60 scv + 1 mule against 60 probes/drones is 10 percent economic advantage.

6 scv + 1 mule against 6 probes/drones is 100 percent economic advantage.

No reason whatsoever not to force the opponent to trade workers.

Sorry, but since its obvious, that if Terran fails with this push with scvs, hes gonna gg right away.. So whats the definition for all-in? If theres no transition, its all-in.. What is the transition for this? Start from 0 Scv against 2 Zerg base? Please.

You can transition into losing your whole fucking base.

For this game I think Haypro didn't make a baneling nest because, like Artosis said, he saw a potential blue flame Hellion play which would have crippled him. So he went Roach Den, saw Banshees, teched to lair, and got timing pushed with lotsa ground units and no Baneling nest.

I don't think it's lack of practice. Based on what a lot of top foreigners have said about the Korean ladder, it seems that players are doing these kinds of all-ins and fast pushes every other game. Just read Huk's interview in the latest Liquid Weekly #17 for his thoughts on PvP on the Korean server. Haypro and all of the other top Zergs must have had plenty of practice by now against this build in particular.

In the second game it's possible that Haypro didn't know the timing of the push and was caught offguard, but in the first game I don't know what he was doing. Either he was overconfident that he could hold the Marine SCV push, or he was just stubborn and decided to 14 Hatch anyway. Either way, they were disappointing games in my opinion.

LMAO

Terran here all I see is cheese in the form of scv all in.

that wasn't remotely allin

it's just a terran weapon

Bringing SCVs in a push is only an all in if scans are used or offensive mules are called down far from a CC.

He didn't bring all SCVs in game 2, it's hardly all-in to bring workers if it can at least guarantee you a dead hatch.

Good point.

However, by your logic, it is ridiculous that bringing a shit ton of workers can guarantee a dead nexus/hatch. I have found this to be the case only with terran. Altough, I rarely if ever bring workers in the other races, So I will have to experiment more.

That's a naive comment to say the least. Haypro is a phenomenal player that was caught out of his element. In terms of raw skill, he is probably one of the best foreigners around.

No offence but your counter-comment sir, is naive as well. If you claim that Haypro is a 'phenomenal player', I would appreciate you back it up with evidence / proof claiming he is of such standard. From what we saw today (and I'm assuming many ppl have not seen Haypro's play much), wouldn t you agree that he does not fit the bill of a 'phenomenal player'?

In my opinion, Haypro has much to improve on. He may possess the mechanics to make him a good player but I personally believe he needs to improve his gameplay sense, to be able to counteract what he's being faced with.

Here's how they'll nerf early rax pressure - second hatchery now requires Spawning Pool.

Remains to be seen how effective it would have been had Haypro gotten banelings. My guess is that with banelings Haypro has no problem taking that out.
