I mean, I know the story was written so that there would be no canon option, and those events probably won't be referred to later. But just purely looking at how the characters should have behaved in those situations, what do you think was the right choice?
Personally, if I were Raynor, I would have betrayed Tosh. He already experienced someone trying to help him take down a corrupt government in return for some pretty hefty favors before, and look how that turned out. (Mengsk) I would think he'd be a lot less trustworthy of people trying to help him this time around, especially when they're a shady character like Tosh. Not to mention releasing a bunch of deadly criminals upon the galaxy would cause chaos that he doesn't need, and it would hurt his image in the fight against mengsk. And Nova might have reminded him of Kerrigan a little bit.
As for Haven, Raynor definitely would have helped the protoss. Look at the first mission in Starcraft 1. He sees an infested command center and immediately guns it down without checking for survivors inside or anything. It's pretty clear that he sees the zerg infestation as completely incurable. It would be so out of character for him to go down there and fight the protoss to defend these infested colonists. I know the game pretends there really wasn't any infestation if you do go down and help them, but purely from the information you're given before the mission, it's obvious they're infested.
What did you choose on your first playthrough, and do you think that was the correct decision?
