From a marketing standpoint, I will have to say that this is a terrible decision, especially at the listed price. I'm sure you would get more viewers and generate more money for a lower price. Also for an inaugural event I don't think that the current pricing strategy is a very good idea, unless the organizers went a bit overboard with the prize pool and are trying to recuperate it. (Which I'm fairly certain is a strong possibility, since they wanted the publicity from boasting the tournament). Hopefully there will be bare minimum in terms of advertisements on the stream, other than to give Nick and Artosis a few minutes break.

HD paid high stream Free VOD viewing DVD/Blu-Ray merchandise with recorded live broadcasts, interviews, and behind the scenes. Advertising team shirts to sale on the main site for all the pro teams. THAT personally is what I would go for.

You'd have a lot less sympathy for KeSPA and related affairs if you knew how big a jackass KeSPA was being about Brood War rights. Yes, this fee is kind of ridiculous, but at the same time they need to fund this "foreign" side of their venture somehow, and it looks like they're trying to accomodate us anyway. As for the "people who don't want to watch it," they do want to watch it. They just aren't being charged because of how mainstream and stable competitive gaming is in Korea -- it's got huge advertisers and is on two network TV stations devoted to gaming -- they don't have to charge. It's a lot smaller an audience with "foreigners," and they don't have the same corporate backing on that side of the project is my guess. I would much rather see a smaller prize pool if it meant that college students could watch it, I already went hungry for a week to buy SC2 (dont have a full time job while going to college) and now I wont be able to watch something that I have been looking forward to. I know Kespa are a bunch of dicks but so is Gom and so is Blizzard for that matter. I can understand Gom wanting a huge amount of viewers in Korea so they can get bigger names for the tournaments but killing off BW is no way to get BW pros to warm up to SC2. The way Gom is going about this whole situation is wrong. Edit: Yes, I do think I have a good idea of the back story, I have read every thread that I could dig up on this no matter how old. I know that Gom got exclusive rights to broadcast Starcraft for $1 and when Kespa tried to charge them for broadcasting BW with Kespa pros, Gom refused. After that Kespa took their pros from the Gom Classic and Gom went under, which is why we haven't seen Tasteless in a while. Gom was never the best of the stations either, they were always the second class citizen. They just had English commentary.

I really wouldn't mind ads, as everyone should be used to them with the OGN/MBC network TV structure. The problem there is securing enough advertisors at the last minute.

I would even pay for VODs if it would be for a year or something. This would probably be the best way to attract viewers. If they really like the content, they would pay to rewatch, watch in better quality, and get merchandise.

GomTV AINT Blizzard. You can't get paid when people don't like what you do. Only Blizzard gets away with that :/

Hello everyone, Many of you are very curious about your bandwidth check result. We can explain how the bandwidth check works on GOMtv.net Your result shows the internet connection between your computer and our server. Even though you have a very high internet connection in your area, if you are located in where far from our server, the result would be low. GOMtv.net server is located in the west of the US and if you stay in Europe or other country, you might have limited speed. That is why we recommend you do bandwidth check before watching live broadcasting or purchasing the ticket. We are trying hard to provide better service and sorry for inconvenience this issue may cause. We will keep up the posting to make you better understand our service. Thank you.
