Right. sums it up pretty good.

Can someone post a link to the VOD quality videos, or at least point me in the right direction. I can't seem to find them on the site.

Torch should be made an honorary member of TL if he can fix this.

Don't get me wrong, I love English commentary, but in this case forking out money separately for livestreams and VODs is ridiculous.
Yeah, I don't mind the Korean streams either in all honesty. I like to talk during the games and discuss the strategies going on anyway. I also think it's funny when Koreans talk, because it's so damn fast, and it's like.... my god.... look at them go!
And then they all get excited when something crazy happens and cheer. It's awesome
But yeah, if that's going to be restreaming for free, then I will totally hop on that. I don't need english commentary.

Any updates on the TorcH meeting? It's crazy that he was able to secure a meeting with the CEO.
|
will prolly happen later today Korean time. Or tomorrow, depending on what timezone Djwheat was referring to and what timezone you are in
|
Well it starts in 24 hours so we don't have much time..

Sorry this my about my third time posting in this tread but this is really too sad... For the first time in my gamer life I got the chance to witness a huge event, which could have become a symbol, like the flagship of modern esports, I was so excited for this tournament... But not only they announce 4 days before the r064 start that they will not provide a free stream nor free vod, but above all, their prices are really overkill. I'm willing to support e-sports but not at this cost. All in all, very disappointed.

I quickly mailed back because it sounded like the meeting was this very early this morning but it's now been postponed until tomorrow.
I honestly have no idea if this is just a "we'll listen but that's about it" type of meeting, or if they are serious about finding a solution, but I'm going to unload a ton of contacts and suggestions to TorcH to see if they would be willing to go with anything.
Thanks to TorcH for looking out and hopefully something can come from it.
UPDATE: I've sent TorcH an email with a ton of suggestions and I've also mailed the founder of UStream to try to get something to happen here. I don't know if this is all for show or what... but it sounds like the massive amounts of criticism has them at least paying some attention.
Pardon the language but you sir are a fucking esports hero. I am so glad that someone would take the time and effort to try to get things done in a positive direction. Big ups!
Oh and likewise to TorcH. If the two of you actually get some deal done here it will be a huge milestone in korean/foreign esports cooperation.

35 hours from this post, actually

I wont buy. Not because it costs, but because it won't fucking work without lag :-\ GomTV must know about the issue but haven't done anything about it.
And no, I won't registered to the website just so I can complain on your forums.
|
Network check says 190 Kbps but my network meter says 300 KBps (bytes, so over 12 times faster). Yeah, the meter does say 0 when I'm not running the check, so it's not other programs. Gom's network check is really fucked up.

DjWheat and TorcH just might end up becoming the saviours of the GSL. I can only hope all goes well.
|
The price is just way too high. In comparison you can get the ESL premium stream and hd vods for 2,50€ per month. (This is if you book for a year, otherwise its 3,x€ per month). And ESL offers a lot of sc2 streaming right now, as well as other games. I don't watch the other games, but i wouldn't watch all of the GSL games either.
But i am very excited to see what Torch and DjWheat can achieve.
|
Where do I go for the OGN stream? I understand some Korean anyway. Is there any sign up involved?
|
You got to be kidding me.........even OSL and MSL doesnt make you pay. You guys are worse than kespa.............
|
wow, considering what tasteless english commentary did for me and getting me hooked on SC BW from the Star Invitational, gomTV can really get a huge start on hooking and garnering to a foreigner fanbase. i mean its a global tournament, and well just restream the free korean broadcasts anyway.
makes me really dissapointed. i was really looking forward to tasteless, after listening to day9 so much. (not that there is anything wrong with day9, just getting commentary from both plotts is made of win)
i wonder what the koreans commentators are going to scream that ill be able to catch phrase. funguuu?

TorcH = luke skywalker djwheat = Obi wan kenobi

Lol Thats hilarious cuz im sure thats how everyone is feeling from a 9.5 to 0.5. Sad times

Jeez, its like they are purposely trying to get us to ignore pro sc2.
