That is also one of the 'advantages' of using a paid stream. You limit the viewers so you don't get a stream that is either to expensive or you need to use a peer to peer system like Octoshape.
Ofc I find the price they charge way to expensive, but everyone is so surprised they will have to pay for the stream but nothing comes free in life :x.
But 50$/month is way to much, I will just buy a day pass if I want to see something (And actually I think alot of ppl will buy these day passes if GOM manages to shut down the pirate streams (but I have no idee how they will do that )).

Ok, $1.95 for live streaming isn't so bad, I'm willing to pay that to watch some of my fav players. But $30 for VODS? f that, i can just record the live stream for my own vods...
|
This is simply an outrage. I never intended to watch the games live because they happen at very early in the morning and I would miss them anyway. But to charge 30 bucks for the fucking VODs?!?!?! Who they fuck do they think they are. This 30 dollar VOD ticket better come with a fucking complementary flight ticket to korea so i can see this shit live.
Fucking ridiculous.

The samples are actually much better than I expected--even the LQ is better than the ESL free stream. The pixelated look is practically a GOM trademark--all their BW videos looked like that too. You won't be reading any text on the game interface but you won't exactly miss any action either.
Doesn't change the fact that a $50 combined price is silly, but at least I'm not utterly depressed about it anymore.
Edit: I also note that the samples run fine with no buffering/stuttering--they definitely load much faster than GOM VODs ever did for BW, though that may just be because their servers aren't under any stress yet
Edit2: as multiple others have suggested, the bandwidth meter on the gom site appears to be labeled incorrectly. It returns 440"Kbps" for me, but my router's bandwidth meter clearly shows that it's intended to be "KBps"

Really surprised that GOM hasn't responded to this yet.

ok quality wise wasnt impressed, but it was watch able and no laging which was very strange considering streams in the past (but a good improvement). Still the price.... Maybe ill just get the day passes for some games

Top of the OP. Read it.

I feel so sad about this... biggest thing ever and i cant watch it. To damn expensive
|
At least I won't be missing out on much when I don't watch the stream
They really need to learn from the examples of what has worked for the eSports scene in the past. AKA kespa, mlg, esl

worst news ever.
GG thx bye GSL.

Can someone direct me to a place where they explain how long this $20 will last me. I really don't have a problem paying the kind of prices they offered back in BW with their high quality streams. However, if I'm looking at $20/month, thats way too steep for me.
Wow, just found it. It actually is $20 for only a month of content. I have to just assume they want people to just buy the 1 day tickets, because idk who would honestly have time to watch enough to make the $20 a good price for the whole month.

From what I've learned, it last 2 weeks.

I was looking forward to this when it was announced. Now I couldn't care less about it. Even if the pricing was reasonable, there's no way I'd pay for something if I have no idea if it will even be watchable.

They don't seem to have much of a sense for reality No mac support... I second this frowny face
There's this: http://deuxdoom.net/blog/index.php/archives/160 But from what it reads, I don't think it can play the downloaded ,gom files? I tried it on the sample vids, seems to work alright.

Lasts 4 weeks, 4-5 games (bo 3) every weekday.

So I just tried the sample videos they put up, both high quality and low quality stream were horrible if you consider the price you'll have to pay to watch it. And then there is the issue that it will most likely lag like hell when you are watching live.
They have definitely overpriced this.

Yea, but as far as I can tell, they've made no response on their site either.

So it's 50 dollars a month to watch, based on the quality of GOMTV's previous "high quality streams," laggy streams at 5am and VODs that expire at the end of the month.
Right.
|
Don't say you're going to provide a free stream and then just don't.
I r angery.

Also just watched the VOD quality, and it is really horrible considering the price they want us to pay for it. I was actualy planning on paying on the VOD's but after seeing the quality im not sure - if they want us to pay that much, get some fucking prober bitrate on stream + VOD!!!
