Capoch beating down two Korean giants... Well, not a surprise here, even tough He can only play after his workday, He was 6 o 7 years ago a top AoE2 player. That doesn't matter at all.. Someone that was good at some other game 7 years ago beat 3 very good sc2 players at sc2. That is very impressive and very suprising, as Capoch is an unknown player who was only really good at some other game 7 years ago and went up against 3 players in a row who were very good at sc2 (the game currently being played in this tournament). See why this can easily be labeled as surprising? x.x
Well then: yeah it is a surprise for the people who doesnt know that He is a very good RTS player, for the people who knows his background it is not.

lol wow... I emphasized SOOOOOOOOO much in my previous post that it did not matter what his background information was he was still expected to lose vs all 3 of those players. Doesn't matter if he was #1 at w/e RTS he used to play a long time ago he was still expected heavily to lose at least one of those games, thus, no matter what his background, it was still a big suprise. *sigh* I'm being a bit harsh, welcome to TL.
Anyway, hopefully Capoch becomes famous so then he can fulfill his agreement of becoming famous, so therefore I can say I was a fan before he was famous.

i knew capoch for a while, if only he could go farther in owc

You're not getting what he's saying. He's saying he's not surprised because he knows Capoch's history. Capoch is also not an unknown, he's been a top NA/LA player since beta started, placed well in many tournaments and is on Inflow Gaming. I certainly wasn't surprised at his wins. Maybe you're not familiar with him and were surprised, but you can't make the assumption that everyone was surprised.

Yes we were aware he was good (hes possibly the 3rd best NA protoss), but they were big upsets all the same.

uh what? 3rd best NA protoss are you kidding?

HuK, Kiwikaki, TT1, iNkA, IefNaij ... that's 5 that are all better/more accomplished than Capoch just off the top of my head.

Xeris has a point. Capoch is VERY good but he's not THAT good.

Nony maybe if he ever really gets into sc2

Latency matters a lot in these matches but them's the breaks for online international tournaments.

You can't say someone who was only like top 40 in MLG is better than Capoch, I don't care what his reputation in BW was... he's not that good at SC2 (yet). Wait until he gets good before putting him there.

Tournament still going? awesome sauce

**EDITED FOR MANNER, THX PAYAM**
Seriously, this was supposed to be done by Sept 8th and its now Sept 14 and still no info. I'm just going to post publicly because I'm pretty pissed off.
Due to how fucking horrible incredibly inordinate the tournament organization has been, iFixit is not interested in sponsoring any more SC2 events for the time being. I was talking to them about sponsoring the CSL but now they don't want to because they've had such a horrible wonderfully terrible experience with the GGI. I know the guy from iFixit was trying not to publicly post about their awful experience here so I'll do it for him.
I'm mad that scrubs inexperienced people who try to run events ruin things for the rest of us people who try hard (and have done good work for years) to do things for the community.

THE
WIN!
**EDIT #2**
To be fair, I think Saechiis has the best of intentions, the organizers just put no thought into the logistics of working out such a tournament, and due to the fact that they have no reputation, weren't nearly as forceful to players about scheduling and playing matches. If you don't have enough presence to make players listen to you, it means you're not respected enough... which lends itself to a really poorly run event.

TY for saying what I've been thinking for a long long time now.

and imo this type of tournament format is horrible and unprofessional.. tournaments are ment to be played in 1 day (at the most u can have it take up a weekend) as a player i just want to focus on playing my match, i dont want to go throught the hasstle of contacting my opponent in order to setup our matchtime
why would we need a tournament admin if were doing his job for him
|
Maybe it would have been better to start dqing players that didn't play their matches on a announced time. Right after launch I can understand giving the players extra time, but now? The main tournament is stacked enough. Will still watch though.
