The biggest problem was slacking on playing matches during beta, then not taking into account the fact that there were no server integration on release (people from US - EU - Asia... ) , and diff accounts and such had to be organized for people, but it was mostly left in the hands of the players (terrible idea, since players are lazy) ... etc

JMS took 100$ and turned it into an amazing tournament lineup and a huge prize pool, we should be thanking him, not berating him. I am highly anticipating this.

this is where I will disagree with you. A 1 day tournament is fine if its a small couple hundred dollar tournament. But a tournament with 700$+ should be longer then a day. It makes games more exciting just this was kinda badly run unfortunately but if it was ran like the HDH 1 (as much as that sickens me to say ) or the King of the beta tournament and stick to your deadlines it goes much smoother.

Its more exciting when there are huge matches every few days rather then a huge tournament with this much money all in 1 day :S.

But wish this was ran a little better but whatever shit happens nothing to be done about it now.
When I think of something else, something will go here

theres nothing wrong with having one match per x days, its just the admins need to be far more active in that kind of tournament to make sure things actually get done.

also everyone needs to stop respecting capoch

JMS is awol as far as I know. And ultimately the tournament is for the viewers so we do have a right to express our feelings about it.

^^And lol at Idras jab at Capoch.

Yes clearly Capoch is a terrible player who doesn't use strategies that win him games. I'll make sure to let him know to try to mix it up and stop using successful strategies. There is about zero need for this BM of Capoch, especially considering he didn't even start anything in the thread.

Sup guys, is this thing still happening? Is it already over? Any chance of existing VODs being linked up in the OP with spoiler tags and all that good stuff? Clicking on one link that leads to all the vods in one big lump on youtube isn't very exciting. Or spoiler proof for that matter

As I understand it a new thread with those kind if things will be made for the main competition. There are only a few games left of the qualifying round so hopefully it won't be too long now.

Cool, that's good to know. That info should be righ up top in the OP tbh. I thought maybe it had been played all the way to the finals already and diving headfirst into that youtube page would spoil the whole thing. Looking forward to some good matches now

The OP is no longer associated with the tournament so the OP cannot be updated. Saechillis said he will make a new one soon....

**EDITED FOR MANNER, THX PAYAM**

Seriously, this was supposed to be done by Sept 8th and its now Sept 14 and still no info. I'm just going to post publicly because I'm pretty pissed off.

Due to how fucking horrible incredibly inordinate the tournament organization has been, iFixit is not interested in sponsoring any more SC2 events for the time being. I was talking to them about sponsoring the CSL but now they don't want to because they've had such a horrible wonderfully terrible experience with the GGI. I know the guy from iFixit was trying not to publicly post about their awful experience here so I'll do it for him.

I'm mad that scrubs inexperienced people who try to run events ruin things for the rest of us people who try hard (and have done good work for years) to do things for the community.

FOR

THE

WIN!

**EDIT #2**

To be fair, I think Saechiis has the best of intentions, the organizers just put no thought into the logistics of working out such a tournament, and due to the fact that they have no reputation, weren't nearly as forceful to players about scheduling and playing matches. If you don't have enough presence to make players listen to you, it means you're not respected enough... which lends itself to a really poorly run event.

I don't understand why you're making such a big fuss. You are in no way responsible for this tournament, why are you continuously trying to start a flamewar when the progress of the tournament is none of your concern?

I know you are a respected TO, but if you have problems concerning the tournament you can talk to me about it on MSN or send me an e-mail for that matter. Constantly making public statements about how you don't like how the tournament is being run isn't helping anyone. It just gives random people an excuse for complaining about things they don't know anything about. And this:

"I'm mad that scrubs inexperienced people who try to run events ruin things for the rest of us people who try hard (and have done good work for years) to do things for the community. "

The only cure for inexperience is just doing it, and that's what I'm doing. I'm not running this tournament for your approval, I'm running it for the community to see some sweet SC2. We have never pretended to be organisational pro's and our sponsors were aware of this when they decided to contribute. I think blaming me for "ruining things for the rest of us people who try hard (and have done good work for years) to do things for the community" is overly dramatic. It's not my fault you can't find sponsorship.
I think esports is pretty nice.

We don't need an excuse to complain about this tournament.

Because I'm speaking for others who wanted to see this tournament happen the way it should have happened? Because I have players in this event so I'd like to see it get over with? Because this event cost my own league sponsorship?

You apparently didn't read my post. This tournament was so bad that iFixit literally isn't interested in sponsoring more SC2 in the near future (sucks for me).

I'm not blaming you per se, I think you have good intentions (like I said) but just messed it up.

Regardless of how bad the tourney has been up to this point can we please just focus on getting the Ro16 underway? This needs to happen ASAP.

So, the GG invitational admins managed to bring in a new sponsor during beta, and because the tournament went poorly, that new sponsor that they brought in doesn't want to sponsor another SC2 tournament right now.

You poor thing. By all means, berate the admins of this tournament.
