This is not a question that can be meaningfully answered. You are not playing rock paper scissors. Asking how do I deal with composition XYZ without giving any context will get you nowhere.

Don't let him get there is indeed the correct answer. If you want meaningful help you should post replays and maybe somebody will help you understand how you could've stopped him getting there.

You can balance whine, or you can just accept it and play around it. Know that you can't beat it, so you know to pressure hard before the lategame army and you know to just pump MMM even after tempests come out and counterattack Polt-style. Modify your play so it works against someone trying to get tempest, know in what time in the game you have an advantage, and know how to capitalize on it.

How do you know that 2-base blink stalker is coming? In Hots you could scan and see blink being upgraded but in LotV it could just as well be the perma stim upgrade for adepts that is being researched.

So what are the tells for 2-base blink stalkers now?

They're actually building stalkers is one big tell.
Usually from my experience if it's a blink build of any sort they build around 2-4 adepts then just pure stalker so just poke the front and see his unit composition

Why do terrans complain about protoss? I have a lot of problems with 2 base aggressive terrans and I see some pros don't find it easy either.

Thats not really the purpose of this thread. If you have trouble with 2base Terran you should check out the Protoss thread for determining the best way of handling that.

Previously I felt similarly about Protoss but with the new patch I have high hopes. For me it was the ridiculous nature of early game TvP. Survive things like adept and proxy stargate. Get into the mid game and start to come back only to see 2-3 tempests protected by storms whittle away at your immobile army. The feeling of playing against the clock while being unable to do anything early game was a very frustrating experience.

Protoss survives to 4 bases and has a tanky, threatening army that is difficult to attack into. Generally, it involves at least high templar and disruptors and a state of game where they can warp in from a dozen warpgates to defend unexpected attacks, delay until their army gets there, or turn the tide against an attacking force. The HOTS thread said it right:

Q. After a major engagment, in which you come ahead but not enough to push their bases, because of warp in, what do you do?

TheDwf: Retreat. Unfortunately most of the time when you narrowly win a fight in TvP lategame all you have gained is the right to have another fight later, hopefully winning this one convincingly enough so you can at least destroy an expand before being forced to run away from Zealots' wrath.

Ver: For example, in TvP if the Terran loses a battle from an even scenario on 4+ bases, he is either massively behind or its game over as Protoss remaxes almost instantly, Terran has no/few ghosts and will likely lose medivacs/energy on them and his units take too long to make. On the other hand if Protoss loses a battle, the Terran almost always has to retreat and remake their army instead of pressing on (at most killing one nearby expo), as if you do you run into templars and full warpins that decimate your weakened army (Taeja/MC in NASL for example). This is why in lategame TvP's the Terran often has to win 3-6 big battles in a row in order to win the game, while the Protoss needs at most 1 or 2 victories.


It's gotten a little easier to win in a convincing style, but a lot of the frustrating elements are still there. You want to be the big bad hightech army forcing the enemy to flee from direct engagements, not the plucky guerrilla force attacking where they're not, harassing the villagers, and waiting for the enemy to be either whittled down or frustrated enough to fight in a very bad, very vulnerable place.

Like really, 2 rax reaper, how to defend it in Orbital? Or prion terraces? TvT used to be my best mu and If I discount the reapers loses, I'm still good at it.

If it's 2 base aggression/low tech with no hint of a 3rd that you're struggling with, perhaps you should tech up and defend, rather than take a 3rd? I'm not a protoss player, but liberators are expensive, and for the terran to get them quickly, he's going to sacrifice a couple of early rax and a lot of units - for the starport and the units. If it's mass units and allinnish just off barracks, well just tech and get storm or whatever as you normally would, and dont get your third. Just defend. After that, you can easily secure the third and he'll behind on libs which is terrans only chance late game, really, which can be dealt with with tempests.

If you mean just around 4 minutes with tech marine/cyclone uthermal style, well, just micro better, place good pylons and overcharge.

What is the best composition in lategame against Protoss? I guess it's just Marine/Marauder/Medivac/Liberator but how many Marines and how many Marauders? Should I have like 20% Marauders, more or less?

Also what is the best way to defend against Warp Prism harras or even just normal Dark Templar harras in lategame? It's so frustrating that I have to pull my whole army for one Warp Prism. And Dark Templars can kill all my SCVs since my army is far away from my mining bases. Should I actually just build PF instead of Orbital and put 2-3 Turrets each base since Darks can kill the one turret before PF kills them. If I reduce building Orbitals I think the lategame becomes much harder.

You have to use a 2 gaz opener before expand in this maps, like 2x reapers+ 2x hellions into banshee.

cc first or rax expand are not safe, and it's very diffcult to hold it with a reaper expand without falling behind (will be a coin flip on where the reapers will try to jump the cliff, basically)
If your opponent is of choleric temper, irritate him.

There is no best army composition, you have to build something that will counter your opponent army: lot of stalkers + disruptors => more marauders, templar => ghosts...

Against harras, you can use mines, tanks or even bunker if you dont feel confortable with multi tasking.
If your opponent is of choleric temper, irritate him.

i open 16 rax 16 gas reactor first every game and hold reapers nearly every game. You just need a bunker at the ramp and your units + a few scvs at the cliff. If it's proxy reapers I skip the reactor and pump out marines with a 2nd rax.
on orbital it's a bit harder to hold but doable if you dodge grenades.
